  • "Had to take a cab from river north. For people like me who enjoy classic Italian, not your ordinary sugar laced food. Fantastic, we had the eggplant parm. Very fresh egg plant, great. I had veal piccata , delicate , like butter. Highlight we split lasagne, the best, even from particular Italian wife. The portion is huge, believe me and will keep me coming back. Hi five great service. Oh. The baked clams and the bread basket were right on task"

  • "Great neighborhood gem with fantastic service, lovely staff and quality food. The baked clams are not to be missed! From the warm greeting when you walk in the front door to the sincere good byes after a wonderful meal, you can't beat Bacchanalia."

  • "A friend of mine suggested we go for a date night. The staff was very accommodating, pleasant, and the food was amazing. We will keep coming back and we are bringing others to share in the experience!"

  • "Our first time here, and it was fine, but I can't say we'll be back -- there are too many other better Italian restaurants in the city. No ambience to speak of, dated decor. Quiet, because it was empty -- on a Saturday night. Food was good, but nothing special. Big portions at least. Waitress was fine, but when it's slow they tend to disappear because there's no one they need to serve nearby. First waitress didn't seem to know menu very well and not very helpful with suggestions. They have valet parking, which is necessary on Oakley as there isn't street parking nearby. Don't like the cash only policy -- which isn't well publicized. Probably one of the main reasons we won't come back in fact."

  • "The food and service was exceptional. We had no delay in being seated. The waitress was fantastic. Very accommidating to all patrons needs. Orders were taken promptly food was prepared in very good time. All the employees were very courteous and efficient. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this establishment."

  • "This is the third time I've been to Bacchanalia and each time the food and service has been outstanding."

  • "The prices have gone up, and portion sizes have gone down - ok, I get it, the economy....but the quality of the food is not as good as it used to be. Still like it, but I might try some of the other places along Oakley."

  • "Oakley Avenue in Chicago is a small sea of Italian food in Chicago and Bacchnalia is an picturesque island fit for family with all the good food, spirits and laughter that you would find around the table in any dining room in Italy. We loved it and the locale and recommend highly!"

  • "Employees were extremely outgoing. I felt like I was family. They only take cash or check which we didn't realize. ATM available for cash. Food was decent. Great place to go before Hawks game. "

  • "Enjoyed the special that night of 4 cheese lasagna. Taste buds were on high alert with the gentle flavors of the tomatoes and the four cheeses. "

  • "First time to Bacchanlia. The hostess greeted us warmly. Table was ready. Great selection of wine, appitezers and entrees. The food is scrumptious. Large portions. Attentive service. Very reasonably priced. Hidden gem. Everyone in the group loved it. Will definitely go again."

  • "Really a great restaurant - food is superb, service is outstanding & prices are awesome"

  • "At 20 minutes early for our reservation, we thought we'd have to wait for our table. But the waiter told us to come ahead, and sit, as long as we were early. The service was over-the-top (in a good way). Even the busers asked us how everything was, and were happyily engaged. We ordered drinks and appetizer, which was huge! Then the waiter drops by with bow tie pasta in vodka sauce, "Compliments of the house!" Our grown son ordered two appetizers and took a box to go home with what he couldn't eat there. My husband and I order entrees and had enough left over to feed four people! Baccanalia is a wonderful, and welcoming place to eat and go to a show, or meet friends, nosh, drink and dine the night away! Loved it and will be going back soon."

  • "I have eaten here four times thus far. Each time I visit, I am astounded at the excellent food and just plain great vibes. Bacchanalia has been in the same spot for over 30 years, and it is one of the finest restaurants in Chicago for authentic Italian food. Their minestrone soup is homemade with fresh vegetables, nothing canned, and comes to your table hot, not luke warm like some eateries. Their bread is from a local bakery, and their entrees are plentiful and very good. With only 14 tables, the place is small and jam-packed on weekends, especially Saturday and after local sporting events. They have a decent wine list, but try their house chianti for starters. Their Tiramisu is to die for and delight. Highly recommended!!!"

  • "Our 1st time dining in the Original Little Italy last Saturday. Where have we been all our lives! Bacchanalia's food was very good, but it was the people (from owners and staff, to the patrons) that's the real show. If you walk out of that place not knowing everybody's name by the end of the night, then you missed out. We are still talking about what a great time we had (both in the restaurant and the bar) and look forward to going back."

  • "I had a great experience, however, whenever I visit this restaurant I always have a great time. I've been here before and the food is always excellent, the service is warm and friendly and makes you want to return. I will be going back to try other dishes on the menu. Thanks"

  • "Found this place on Yelp. Had a group from work that didn't like that we were heading out of the city, but the food was worth it. Great little place...awesome value for the money!"

  • "Very old school, old neighborhood Italian. The food was great, some very traditional, some not. We were still talking about the baked clams three days later. If you have ever watched a movie about the old neighborhood "back in the day" and wished you could have gone to the place they all ate at...here's your chance. And then you'll go back because the food was fantastic."

  • "I'm married to a full blooded Italian that knows how to cook all the great Italian dishes. If we can go to an Italian restaurant and have a quality dining experience without the wear and tear on my wife, we have done extremely good. We really had a good time and enjoyed the food and excellent service, we can't wait to go back."

  • "We have been fans of Bacchanalia's for years. It is a shame that people forget about these little places that made Little Italy what it is today. The food is always fresh, there is always more than enough to eat, and the desserts are fabulous! Their signature dishes are to die for!"

  • "We had not been here for years and we were not disappointed. Waitress was helpful and excellent, bartender friendly and nice and the food was excellent. We knew ahead of time that it was cash only, and that was fine wit us. Dining room was full. Reservations on a Saturday night seem to be a must. Will go back."

  • "One of few restaurants that still has large baked clams(which are always tastey). You can select variety of sauces. Good wine choices with reasonable prices. Great chicken Marsala and white fish."

  • "We have been going to this restaurant for nearly 20 years, and it is still one of my wife's favorite restaurant. I offered to take her to dinner for her Jan 1st birthday and suggested a couple of her usual places and she almost cut me off before II could finish saying emphatically she wanted to go to Bacchanalia's. The food is simple in it's elegance, providing an authentic Italian dining experience."

  • "We were on a four day weekend trip to Chicago from Delaware. My partner and I ordered Chicken Parm and the special which was eggplant and veal parm combo. What a great dinner. The veal was amazingly tender and the marinara sauce was perfect. Server was professional and knowledgeable and instantly made us feel at home. Great night."

  • "Good place to meet a friend for lunch with homemade chicken soup, great bread, huge portions, very good prices. Food was very tasty. Quiet place to talk. Has valet. ONLY TAKES CASH. It does have an ATM."

  • "The restaurant is tiny and tables are squished together with narrow walkways between them. This is not a leisurely place to eat but great food nonetheless. Great spot before United Center events!"

  • "The ambiance is very friendly, and so is the service. The food could be more tasty though. Remember to bring cash!"

  • "Before I say anything, let me say that this is truly a neighborhood gem. The food was wonderful and every diner, except for my party, we locals. Huge portions, festive occasions and wonderful, friendly people. If I lived in Chicago, I would go to Bacchanalia on a regular basis. Not a native of Chicago, I had no idea where Bacchanalia was located. I was staying on Michigan Avenue and wanted to get out of the downtown hustle and bustle, and boy, did I!!! It was a hike in a cab, but I would do it again and recommend it to anyone visiting Chicago. Wonderful restaurant, wonderful people and wonderful food."

  • "Great neighborhood ambience, fabulous waittaff & bread basket, weeknite specials can't be beat!"

  • "One of Chicago's best secrets, Bacchanalia is a little off the beaten path but absolutely worth the trip. Everything is homemade and I've never had a dish I didn't love. Personal favorites are the Bacchanalia Chicken, the meat ravioli and spaghetti with bolognese sauce. You'll leave full and with leftovers! And don't skip desert - the tiramisu is delicious!"
