Diner Reviews
  • "Dinner was excellent. Portion size was small but incredible tasty. Certainly one of the best dining experience in Atlanta!"

  • "Simply one of the best restaurants in the United States. Always a great meal with impeccable service in a welcoming atmosphere."

  • "First, let me say, the service is impeccable and the food is excellent. The restaurant itself is buried in the back of its sister retail outlet, Star Provisions. It was awkward finding it the atmosphere was very underwhelming. Many of the patrons appeared stuffy but, in also too many instances for my tastes, there were patrons who were very under-dressed to the point of inappropriate (e.g. jeans, no socks, no jackets, golf shirts, shirt tails un-tucked). While the food was incredible, it was also overly expensive considering we did not leave "full." The drinks were very expensive. We had four glasses of cabernet between us which totaled just under one hundred dollars...by the way, that was some of the best wine we have ever had anywhere."

  • "I took my boyfriend to celebrate a new job and every single server told him congrats. We had wonderful service and he can't stop talking about the Veal Sweetbread! I'm going to have to learn it now. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back again."

  • "Quite simply, Bacchanalia does not disappoint. It still lives up to its fine reputation. I look forward to going again, hopefully sooner rather than later."

  • "An exceptional dining experience - from entry to exit. Food, service, ambience, table spacing, sophistication of environment - love the experience. Live in Kansas and always try to get into you restaurant when I know that I will be in your city."

  • "Went to celebrate a birthday. The food was incredible in taste and presentation. The wait staff is friendly and well versed on each item of the extensive 5 course offerings. I have dined here more than a dozen times. It is simply the best that Atlanta has to offer. If you are looking for a special occasion spot for a memorable experience, look no further."

  • "What a lovely dinner. Our waiter was very knowledgable and attentive, the food was divine, the atmosphere was romantic. I give it 5 stars! Lovely absolutely lovely!"

  • "2 couples celebrating anniversaries. We all eat out often. Bacchanalia consistently knocks it out of the park. It's fun to walk thru the retail shop. The dining room is elegant and lovely. The lighting is ideal--enough to see, but subtle enough to create a sense of privacy. The food is always delicious, interesting and innovative. We thoroughly enjoyed the little extra tastes too. The service is professional and there is a genuine feeling of teamwork and pride (deserved pride). Finally we so appreciated that the noise level allowed us to have fun conversation w/o shouting or having a headache afterward. Yes it is expensive. But you get what you pay for and something more. A special experience that is in a class above the rest."

  • "Overall the food was fantastic. I would rate outstanding except entrees (one lamb, one NY strip) were a little dry"

  • "Our visit was a culinary adventure. The staff was great! They were very attentive and made our experience an exciting journey into the world of complex flavors. We spent about 2 1/2 hours there enjoying the ambiance and amazing food. At the end of our 5 course meal we didn't want to go! We wanted to just sit awhile and savor our last few moments recanting the fabulous meal we thoroughly enjoyed!"

  • "Everything was fabulous and we had a fantastic delicious dinner. The 5 course menu with its 5 or more choices for each course is a great idea and everybody can find a dish, he wants to go for. The wine list is notable and on a reasonable price level. Only the wines by glass are fairly overpriced and hence our evening ended at 400 bucks! Two good bottles would have been cheaper... Apart from that, great place for a special dinner."

  • "Bacchanalia is a true dining experience. The most difficult part of eating here is choosing all five courses at the start of the evening! It's one of the few restaurants in Atlanta that you can actually conduct a conversation over dinner without shouting and the service is superb."

  • "I've worked at and dined at many fine dining establishments and I can say that it didn't live up to my expectations. The food was the best part. I love tasting menus, and they had a great one in that you select each of your five courses. We asked the server for suggestions (he had been there for 2 years) and all he could say was "This one's good, this one is too..." and never went into any detail about any items on the menu. The table next to us got coffee service immediately before their dessert course, and we waited until we were done with desserts then ASKED the server if we could have some coffee. Service was professional but seemed to differ from table to table and didn't make us feel like other places that provide excellent service."

  • "Wow! What an experience! A 5-course pre-fixed menu with a few extra surprises thrown in the by the chef! The portions were just right so you could truly enjoy all 5 courses and what an incredible selection of food! The flavoring and presentation of the food was top notch as well! The service was impeccable as well! A "MUST" for a special occasion! It is worth EVERY penny! You won't be disappointed!"

  • "Haven't been there in a couple of years but still just as good as ever. The food is just fantastic and service immpecable. Don't know why didn't go back sooner. Still miss the old house but the new spot has alot more activity around it they it did a few years ago."

  • "We enjoyed every bite, we really did. But the tiny portions had me baffled. I kept questioning the reasoning behind them. Was it that the rich don't like food? That they just want a taste of something wonderful and then want no more? No, I think it is purely the fact that the restaurant has its eye on the bottom line and by doling out those tiny portions it makes the business more profitable. I am an average size man (6' / 185 pounds) and left the table feeling satisfied. However, had it not been for the 3 slices of bread that I ate during the meal, I would have been hungry. There's just no reason for that! And when we finished our bottle of wine before the 4th course I ordered another glass...another stingy portion was presented!"

  • "Bacchanalia was an awesome dining experience! Our first time here and for a special occasion, it was beyond our expectations. The service was terrific and the food flavors and presentation exquisite. We will definitely return for other special occasions"

  • "In every regard, this was a great dining experience. I have heard about Bacchanalia as long as I have lived in Atlanta (17 ), and I was very excited to finally try it. Bacchanalia did not disappoint! The food was amazing and flawlessly presented. The service was top-notch. The chef went out of his way to accommodate my dinner guest's gluten-free and other dietary restrictive needs. I was surprised at the end with a beautifully artistic, stacked cupcake "Happy Birthday" dessert that should have been on the cover of a foodie magazine. I haven't stopped raving about our experience, and I hope to go back."

  • "The food is exquisite, the service is superior, and if you're looking to treat yourself or enjoy a special dinner, you really can't do much better than this."

  • "I went here for my birthday. It was just what I expected AND MORE! It is very pricey but for the service and the food it is well worth it. If you are looking to get a plate full of food do not bother going because I don't want you to provide a bad review on the account of that. I expected that type of experience therefore I have absolutely NO complaints. I am ready to go back but I must wait until pay day :-)"

  • "A wonderful place with fantastic food and impeccable service. Although you might be put off a bit by the small servings, by the time you are done with your five courses (and added extras), you are totally satisfied with everything. Though I might have wished for a clearer description of the options, all questions were answered and whatever we ordered was delicious."

  • "A perfect dining adventure; an experience into food at its finest. Our third visit, and we continue to be awed by the exceptional standards from start to finish in food and service. Masterful flavors and intriguing combinations of the finest foods. Server recommened wine & champagne that made the courses burst into flavor. Thank you for another lovely evening; we appreciate all the extra treats!"

  • "My significant other and I had been wanting to go to Bacchanalia for years, but with it being as expensive as it is, we ended up finally going for our tenth anniversary. What a great experience. From the seamless service, to the delectable food! To be sure, its expensive, and the portions are small, but this is food you aren't going to find anywhere else. At least not in Atlanta. We had three servers waiting on us, and the execution was flawless, as was the food. We did have to take a second look at the first course (hamachi and the oysters), because it was so small, but the flavours are unparallelled. They also bring you little "gifts" from the kitchen, which were also very tasty. I would recommend it, especially for a special occasion."

  • "Our first time dinning at Bacchanalia and it was for our 27th Anniversary. This dinner will go down as the absolute best dinner we have ever had. Service was outstanding and every course was divine. We now have a new favorite "Go To" place. Thank you for an unforgettable evening!"

  • "Did a double header over a 3 day weekend with Eugene and Bacchanalia, and while Eugene had a few outstanding dishes, I much preferred my experience at Bacchanalia. Service was refined yet unassuming and the waiter was very knowledgeable and passionate about the menu. Good pacing and relaxed atmosphere. Compared to Eugene which had a few great dishes, several good dishes, and a number of okay dishes, the batting average at Bacchanalia was much better with several great dishes, several good dishes, and only one or two that were okay. The Lonzino, Crab Fritter, Veal Sweatbreads, Lamb, and blue cheese were outstanding. Despite being full, the Valrhona Chocolate and Fried Dough desserts were so good we cleaned the plates. Highly recommended."

  • "This was exactly what we were looking for! It was perfect potions and the timing on all the dishes was amazing. We left feeling full and completely satisfied. The food was amazing with great attention to detail and the servers were wonderful at explaining. I will definitely be going back soon!"

  • "I always enjoy going to Bacchanalia. The food and service are always top notch. The nice thing was we went on Monday night and the place was not that busy which lead to even better service. I always enjoy going here and trying new things. I try my best to always try something new and exciting except I always seem to lean to the crab fritter which is awesome."

  • "It is amazing I have been in Atlanta for 13 years and this was my first visit. We went there with my family and had the 5 course dinner. All the dishes are just the right size, very well prepared and had a fantastic presentation."

  • "Just take a look at their Zagat and at how long they've been number one. That speaks a lot. Might well be the most fancy restaurant in the southeast."

  • "We went here because reviews listed it as the best in Atlanta. It was! The food was excellent. The portions are small but actually the right size for 5 courses. You don't feel sluggish or stuffed at the end. The quality and presentation of the dishes was superb, service was attentive and outstanding, and the dining room scene was upscale. Would definitely return when I visit ATL again."
