A word from Babylon
Inspired by the opulence of the ancient Mesopotamian city of Babylon and the legendary wonderment of the Hanging Gardens comes a conceptual restaurant, lounge, and event space unique in its kind to downtown Raleigh's dining and entertainment landscape.
Hidden in plain sight on the cusp of downtown's Glenwood South District and the Capitol District, surrounded by a wall of brick and cedar, sets a seductive outdoor dining terrace exuding the sophistication of a southern European courtyard and the ornate tones of the palaces of Marrakesh and Fez.
An embellished oasis welcoming all to an unparalleled experience, Babylon inhabits a more than century old structure that has been painstakingly restored, reflecting respect for the building's original façade while seamlessly incorporating regal elements, all imported from Morocco.

My meal was good but the other two persons that was dining with me was not satisfied with their meal and was not what the waiter explained. I also thought it was weird for a Moroccan restaurant to play salsa music. The restaurant was not crowded at all for a Saturday night. Three of us were celebrating our birthday's and I was a bit disappointment wih the ambiance of the restaurant. I also thought the service was a bit slow. I am glad that I was able to visit but I will not be going back.

Staff couldn't be nicer! We were there for a special occasion and host/waiter/etc all were quick to note and did their best to help us celebrate. A high top table near the bar was intimate & quiet enough for conversation. Portions were great, service professional. We look forward to returning, again & again!

My group of six was seated promptly, the waitress was made aware of our time constraints (we had a performance to attend), and service was very attentive but not rushed, and we were easily able to enjoy our meal and be our on time. Dishes were generally delicious, although I thought the chicken tagine was overly salty and not warm enough. Wine list was nice and the bottle we ordered was very good. Menu includes small plates and larger entrees. I would return again and recommend it to friends.

I called and made a reservation, they did not inform me there was wedding that night as well. It was my daughters birthday dinner (just us two). They sat us outside and it was cold. The waitress took forever to come over. After about half hour, we decided to leave. The wedding party had moved outside and they were announcing the first dance. It was so noisy and the service was horrific. It was too late to make reservations anywhere else, so we ended up not having dinner at all.

Looking for a great change in the food scene? This is it. Very fresh, healthy, food. My wife and I had a great date night sitting outside under the fall stars in downtown Raleigh, NC The menu is not overwhelming and will not leave you wondering what to eat . The servers are dynamic. Very informative about the dishes and will cater to your pallet. The owner even came out to thank us for patronizing his establishment. The Wine and Drink list is full of everything to suite all drinkers. My wife loved the mixed drinks. Please check out this Moroccan gem in Raleigh , NC.

Morocco has entered the USA in Raleigh! Although familiar with Moroccan food, I had never had the opportunity to try it. This was particularly special and tasty! My wife and I had 2 different types of Couscous. She had the Marrakesh and I had the Royal. Both were absolutely incredible! Highly recommend an outside table by the pool!

This was my second time dining at Babylon. I wasn't very impressed the first time, but decided to revisit since at least a year had passed. First, they were hosting several large parties which forced diners like myself to eat outside. Luckily it wasn't too cold. Second I ordered the lamb medallions and the lamb skewers. The meat for both meals was extremely tough and contained a lot of fat. For this to be a mediterranean restaurant, the lamb was poorly cooked and/or was an extremely bad cut. Probably my last venture here.

Loved the outdoor seating by the pool. We had to move twice because of the weather. Started outside, moved under the awning and then inside when the rain got too torrential. The staff was very accommodating to our needs. Great cocktails as well! Will go back for their bottomless mimosa brunch!

The chicken in the Chicken Tajime was yummy! I wasn't a fan of the potatoes. Our appetizer was amazing and even the bread and oil were super yummy! I'd go back to try the lamb, it smelt so good. Sitting outside was nice but much rather would have preferred a standard table. Where we sat was uncomfortbale. Overall good place!!!

Enjoyed this restaurant for my birthday dinner. The ambiance and food were excellent. There was ample parking for a downtown location. The wait staff was knowledgeable and even told us the history of the building. I would definitely return to this restaurant as often as possible. One thing that would help is if Moroccan music were played in place of the same old American music played in so many restaurant.

I have passed this resturant many times, I am so glad to finally try it. The atmosphere is much more Miami or Las Vegas than Raleigh. The staff was friendly and attentive despite 2 wedding parties taking up most of the resturant. The appetizers were fantastic. The meal was ok. I think if I go back, I will just sit on the patio, enjoy appetizers, cocktails and soak up the atmosphere.

Beautiful outdoor setting but service was slow, the tagines were cold and fairly flavorless, and dessert was burnt (blackened pastry). Great potential and we would have accepted the slow service had the food been delicious or even halfway decent. No one in our group thought much of their meals or would go again. Huge disappointment.

We had a fabulous dinner at this restaurant. We sat outside and we couldn't have asked more of the service, food or ambiance. Even though the establishment is very near Capital Blvd. as it enters downtown, the enclosed courtyard was lush with greenery and atmosphere, and the feeling of being in an oasis in the desert pervaded. The lamb tagine was seasoned perfectly with sweetness and a bite of spice to counter it, and while the lamb fell off the bone easily, the other ingredients were tender but not overcooked. Cous cous with lamb and vegetables was very good as well. Great side benefit is that the restaurant has an ample parking lot. The interior of the restaurant is sophisticated and subdued, with a sizable bar area as well.

Food was great, and it was a beautiful evening for patio dining. It was also the night of a wedding reception being hosted there, with the DJ/dancing on the patio blaring bad wedding party music so loud we couldn't even talk at our table. We skipped dessert to go somewhere else and later found ourselves hoarse from trying to talk over the music. Our group decided we'll probably only come back on a weeknight just to avoid that scene again. If we were to come back on a weekend, we would DEFINITELY call to see if there was going to be a private party with music on the patio before confirming.

Great selection of middle eastern, french and Spanish foods and an extensive wine list. Great atmosphere and outdoor dining was especially pleasant with a pool in the center and seating all around with romantic lighting. Babylon is hands-down my favorite restaurant in Raleigh. The food is great, no doubt about that, but the ambiance is incredible. I really feel like I'm in an oasis, especially when I sit outside. Loved the atmosphere inside and out on the patio. Music an dancing on the patio were nice but the hookahs that came out later in the evening were a distraction. We ate on the patio and it was a warm/muggy evening...outdoor ceiling fans would be a welcomed addition. The hostess did help by moving some freestanding fans to help, and was most appreciated. The bartender was very helpful and knowledgeable. Loved the atmosphere.

Heard about Babylon and decided to try for our anniversary. Asked for patio seating but it was quite got and muggy. Other than looking out the open gate door to the traffic it was a very scenic and quaint place. Wife had tagine chicken which was excellent, I had lamb medallions which were a little tough and not much seasoning. Had these chicken wraps for appetizer and that was best part of the meal! Good drink selection too

We went for the special menu during a restaurant week and the food was good. But I asked for beer that would be on tap and the bartender suggested and brought one that was in a bottle. The food was very good, even though my salmon was raw in the center. The location is a hard and twisted right turn off Capital Blvd. right when it turns into Dawson. I barely saw it to turn in. Very easy to miss. The outside dining area has ample space, with a separate bar and small pool. However, the guy smoking a disgusting cigar right by the door put an end to any notion to sit outside.

We always have enjoyed coming here, but on our last trip they were out of the reasonably priced wines on their menu. We tried ordering two different bottles and they didn't have either. We went to Babylon to celebrate our 4 year date anniversary. Had a wonderful time and enjoyed the atmosphere and surroundings. Staff were friendly very knowledgeable about the food. The food was excellent, from the calamari appetizer to the entrees - lamb tagine with couscous and lamb chops with grilled vegetables, meats were flavorful and cooked to perfection.
