The dining room offers a relaxed setting and the outdoor patio, which overlooks the serene setting of Freedom Park, makes diners forget that they are just minutes away from downtown Atlanta.
Dishes such as Chef Adams’ Steamed Mussels with Strawberries and Serrano Peppers, Artichoke and Olive Ravioli in a White Wine Butter Sauce and Beef Tenderloin drizzled with Gorgonzola Sauce have kept locals and tourists alike flocking to this culinary haven.

My mom was visiting from out of town and is extremely picky about where she dines. A friend recommended Babette's so we tried it. It is the only time in the last 5 years that my mom liked a restaurant that we have tried with her here in Atlanta. She liked the quiet comfortable atmosphere, our waitress was outstanding and the food was great. We all tried the price fixe menu that is offered Tues-Thurs evenings. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will be back!

When will Marla celebrate a quarter century here? It may be our 25th return for an anniversary, or close. Of course, we've "returned" in the intervals, too, as we've explored elsewhere on important occasions, but we've always returned for the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere. This visit, we departed from our "usual" entrees, and weren't disappointed, but our infidelity demands that we return for our treasured tenderloin beef and seafood very soon. We'll be back and back again.

What a great brunch. The shrimp and grits were excellent and the bacon and onion tart changed my outlook on life. Our server, Alex, gave great service and was accommodating with any special request. I'm just sad to see brunch gone from Babette's. It will be missed.

  • Chef Marla does it again!

As per usual, Babette's Cafe does it again. Went here for my anniversary dinner and it was spectacular. I have been here before and this was hubby's first time. Put it this way...the next morning, the first words out of his mouth was "Can we make reservations for Babette's?" Such great value here and the wait staff is friendly and not too stiff, which is what we usually encounter at other restaurants. Babette's doesn't ever feel stuffy but still feels special. That's hard to achieve. Chef Marla has taken care of all of the little things, including the amazing lighting(not too dim, not too bright), and acoustic panels that keep the noise way down. The art work is fantastic. Feels like you could have been dropped right into France. Love!

The food was average and so was the service. I had the scallops on risotto and it was too salty. My husband's beef strogonoff was decent. Was not worth the drive we took all the way from Alpharetta. I suppose for a neighborhood restaurant it may be ok.

We call this the "perfect restaurant" because of its consistency. You can see our ratings above, and it is the same every time. And we've been going to Babette's Cafe since it opened on Highland down the street decades ago. We’re home cooks and we unhesitatingly recommend Babette’s Café to locals and tourists. Marla knows how to cook, how to hire, how to schmooze with her guests and how to do all the other things that we have no clue about involved in running a good restaurant. One surprise, a unique blemish for this place: The slight, short, youngish woman who greeted us was, for this restaurant, unprecedentedly unpleasant, practically snarling.

I had not been to Babette's in many years since moving outside the perimeter int he 90's. I am compelled to revisit any place that has remained in business for over 20 years. I was not disappointed. The food was fabulous and the portions were a perfect size! Prices all reasonable or comparable to similar establishments. The atmosphere, lighting , etc are warm and welcoming. Our server was attentive and courteous. I would call this gourmet comfort food. Something as simple as french bread and butter was a sublime transport to any cafe in France. As the place filled up the noise level rose but thankfully not to shouting levels. I can't wait to go back!

Service was excellent; our foursome each had different meals, one from the fixed price menu. We all enjoyed our food. I had sole which may have been slightly under seasoned but was still very good. I appreciate the fact that portion size were appropriate rather than overwhelming. The wine list was reasonably priced, with, according to some at the table more knowledgable than me, a number of excellent selections.

Was really looking forward to our meal, reviews were great, everything looked great. Sadly though everything went downhill after meeting our waitress. We were sitting at a table by the kitchen and staircase, normally would be an issue, the food made it a non issue. The waitress though took all the pleasure away. I would give her name but she never introduced herself. All the food was great, but anything we asked for was met with a scowl. The only time a smile came close was when we were given the check. We had to ask for our wine well into the meal, that was an issue, also it hadn't been chilled down and would never had been ready to drink during our meal. Shame as it would have been a great meal if we had a nice waiter.

Babette's is a lovely place with reliably delicious food and wonderful service. This was our third time eating there. The spinach/mushroom crepes appetizer were excellent, and the grilled swordfish my husband got was as well. I gave 4/5 stars for two reasons: the mushroom soup we had as a appetizer was fine, but not great, and our server was not having a good day. She was fine, but crabby; she made me want to cheer her up. But it's such a cozy place the rest of the ambience made up for it.

Was here with my new GF (I'm mid-60s) on October 17, 2014 to celebrate her b'day, just the two of us. Love the atmosphere, service was okay, but I had snuck in a b'day cake and somehow the waitress didn't get tipped off, brought us a dessert menu -- so I had to spoil the surprise for my GF and go tell the waitress about the cake lying back in the kitchen. Food was good, but frankly, not worth the price paid . . . and I'm soon giving up on higher-priced restaurants in part due to this visit. It was my "tipping point." I am SO SO SO tired of paying eight or nine dollars for the least expensive glass of wine on the menu; at Babette's our glasses were barely half full. My scallops on risotto were warm, not hot. Overall food amount = bit skimpy

We booked a reservation for the 4 remaining days when we heard brunch was ending at Babette's. Last Sunday we ate there and were completely confused by the decision to change the brunch menu and remove two if the most popular items. Croque Madame and traditional eggs Benedict, two items which had to be the best sellers, had been removed. These were the two items we ordered every Sunday so this disappointed us greatly. We ordered something else and of course the food was delicious and well prepared as always but not what we traveled there every Sunday for. And with the surge of activity due to the publicity over the ending of brunch, the place was packed and noisy, and the food service slow. We Have cancelled our remaining 3 reservations.

I think we tried everything from the steak to the halibut to the duck and it was all delectable. The service was delightful, present when needed but not obtrusive. The ambiance was perfect. When Marla closes her doors at the end of the month, The ATL losses a perfect egg, wonderful cooked to order - Salmon -brochette - every dish to perfection ! And the best environment to enjoy an hour or so with friends, who really feel at home. I frequently dine for Brunch at here due to the strong selection of dishes. Both the Wild Mushroom and the Cauliflower soups are excellent ways to start the meal. And I personally like to follow that with their Ribeye Steak Sandwhich, but if you prefer omelettes I also hear good things about them. Another reason I continue to return is how relaxing and "at home" I feel inside. I simply love the environment as well as the type of folks that work and dine at Babette's. The only thing that bothered me this last visit is that I was never asked or brought back a refill for the beverage I had finished, and since I wasn't in a mood to bring it up, I settled with the water already on our table. Besides that, I will gladly continue coming back.

Babette's is our go-to restaurant for pretty much every occasion - holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. - but also our favorite place to go in general because it's like visiting friends - one of whom REALLY knows how to cook! There is a feeling of warmth that lasts long after we're home again and, if it's too long between visits, we really miss it. My daughter and I have particularly enjoyed our mother-daughter brunches over the past number of years - just the two of us catching up, having real conversations while being completely spoiled by Marla and Robin and the entire staff. I highly recommend Babette's to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience with amazing food and equally amazing people. A real Atlanta treasure.

We dined here for my birthday dinner, and I could not have been more pleased with my choice. The decor is lovely, the service wonderful and the food delicious. I started with a very tasty Whiskey Sour that I would order again. We had the corn chowder - yummy, I had the starter of bay scallops on spinach risotto - light and fresh, not swimming in cream and butter. We split the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly and finished off with their signature dessert of chocolate bread pudding with housemade banana ice cream. It was a wonderful evening, and I would definitely go back.
