A word from Babette's Cafe
Dining at Babette’s Café is like stepping into Chef/Owner Marla Adams’ home. She is equally as known for the incredibly creative Rustic European cuisine that she creates, as she is for her welcoming personality.
For twenty-one, Babette’s Café has offered the flavor of a restaurant that is tucked into the French countryside. The dining room offers a relaxed setting and the outdoor patio, which overlooks the serene setting of Freedom Park, makes diners forget that they are just minutes away from downtown Atlanta.
Dishes such as Chef Adams’ Steamed Mussels with Strawberries and Serrano Peppers, Artichoke and Olive Ravioli in a White Wine Butter Sauce and Beef Tenderloin drizzled with Gorgonzola Sauce have kept locals and tourists alike flocking to this culinary haven.
Brunch is served on Sundays from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm and offers the "lightest Pancakes with Blueberry Compote", the "richest Shrimp and Grits" and the most "luscious Croque Madame", in town.

Food was wonderful, service was excellent! My friend who dined with me eats gluten-free, and there is a wonderful gluten-free menu! The halibut was exceptionally good, so get it while you can -- it's seasonal so it will probably not be available for a while after September.

I love going to Babett's for dinner. I know the food will be great, the service impeccable, and I always walk away happy. I love that when you sit down there bring you the best bread in Atlnta. When they change thier menu they always keep some of the Old Faithful.

Asked to be seated on deck. Good choice as was very pleasant and we were the only ones choosing this over inside air conditioning. Owner/Chef Marla seated us herself, suggesting most comfortable spot. Waiter Robin was attentive without being intrusive, and maintained a good humor despite having to serve us in the heat. Bloody Marys and a 1/2 basket of scones & muffins to start, then friend had Shrimp & Grits & I had Croque Madame. Felt such a pleasant experience was a good value @ less than $50 total, excluding gratuity. Free valet parking.

Although I don't live in ATL any longer Babette's is an always consistent dining experience headed up by special owner Marla. Long time staff - some from her 1st location down the road - ensure a good time. Simply delicious food - from a grilled corn chowder to always perfect veal piccata. Luscious desserts. Menu changes with the season - Marla has done that long ago! Convenient valet parking too.

There is not enough space to describe the exemplary experience of this restaurant. Not only were the mussels, lamb, fresh blueberry pie and service excellent but the atmosphere and pleasantness of the people were remarkable. There are dozens of fine food restaurants but only a few who pay attention to the finite details (and most of those are overseas). The boat-shaped container in to which I could put the mussel shells. The crumber between EVERY course. The grace of the waiter (name unknown - Turkish fellow) when I told him I wasn't ready to order. Didn't bug me but arrived soon as I signaled him. Lamb arrived rare instead of medium (happens) but whisked away and fixed promptly with effusive apologies. Limited wine list but good wines.

Always a pleasure to talk with Marla. Our waiter was helpful and we joked back and forth. Come here every time I'm in town for Brunch or dinner. Usually arrive as they open to avoid the crowd. Valet parking is a must here as Marla explains on her blog. It's the law when a place has only a 1 car wide drive way. Place is not big, so resi is a good idea.

Tan peach textured walls and a plywood bar reminiscent of 1992. Was this supposed to be a French restaurant? No French food. Top shelf for bourbon is Makers Mark and the wine list appears to have been thrown together without thought. Gazpacho was a standard tomato smoothie, corn chowder was sweetened with sugar, crostini was tomatoes (without any seasoning) and grocery store quality goat cheese on a couple pieces of bread, and artichoke ravioli were filled with canned artichoke dip. Bay scallops on risotto were passable. Entrees were a severely overcooked halibut and tough lamb chops. Punctuating the tired decor and mediocre food was the lackluster service - plates and glasses all over the bar. It wasn't cheap either - $100 a person.

Babette's rarely disappoints and Saturday night was no exception. I had paella, which was the equal of any Spanish restaurant in town and my wife had salmon. Dessert was an exceptional cheese tart. Service was, as always, attentive and relaxed; no hovering. We come back every few months and always enjoy.

Babette's offers a nice line of appetizers and soups, so that you can put together a good dinner with a number of tastes. Both the gazpacho and the corn chowder were well-flavored. We split a plate of 3 pirozhkis. If we go again, we'd each get a plate. The mussels were large and OK. Not nearly as good as Murphy's are right now. The scallops were wonderful—small and tender. One thing that Babette's does not have is a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc on their wine list. The SBs on the list consist of two CA wines and the undistinguished French version, which we ordered. Not bad, but nowhere near as flavorful or interesting as almost any New Zealand SB.

This restaurant is lovely, with a European feel to it; very cute tiny bar at the entrance. Our server was wonderful, very knowledgeable and offered recommendations without being pushy. The Manhattan was an excellent beginning to the meal. I had the scallops w/risotto which I understand to be rather new to the menu. It was delicious and I hope becomes a standard. For entrees my husband chose the lamb and I had the filet w/gorgonzola sauce. Both were excellent, though I wouldn't have minded more gorgonzola on mine. We finished by sharing a wonderful chocolate bread pudding with homemade banana gelato. The wine list was nice as well, I enjoyed a good cotes du rhone. Will definitely return the next time we are in Atlanta.

My wife and I made a third trip to Babette's for her birthday. I've lived in Atlanta for over 40 years; she nearly 30. We dine out fairly frequently, but chose Babette's over others because we had previously had such good experiences. We were not disappointed in any way. Valet parking, friendly greeting, choice seating, impeccable service, knowledgeable and attentive wait staff, excellent menu, superb food, good wine selection, wonderful desserts... . I could go on but that would serve no further purpose. Many restaurants set an initial high standard and then gradually suffer an erosion in one or more facets that contribute to your overall experience. Babette's continues to maintain them all, and if anything, improve.

Babette's never disappoints - if it wasn't a bit of a drive for us, we would probably eat there once every week. Marla does a great job of tweeking the menu for seasonal freshness, but there are always our favorites on the menu - especially the piroskis with tarragon butter sauce. Also love that you can get a cup of soup for just a taste. I love a menu where I have trouble deciding what to order because I know I'll like it all.

It was our "usual" experience at Babette's Cafe. How often does usual mean, "excellent?" Perhaps not often enough. As per usual, the food was great. My husband had the Mussels and I had the Gazpacho for appetizers. We had the Lamb Chops and they even prepared my husband's dish GLUTEN FREE! The wine selection was one of their special recommendations, a Verdana Pinot Noir that paired very well with our meal. And to top it off, I had an amazing seasonal Blueberry Tart (a WHOLE CUP of blueberries) and my husband had his favorite dessert there, the Banana Ice Cream. Who knew gluten free could be so good? So, once again our usual evening of great food, wonderful atmosphere, fabulous service and friendly hellos and good-byes. We'll be back soon!

We always order the filet because it is outstanding. The service is great and the ambiance outstanding! The wine list is excellent. When we take friends to Babette's we never worry about their liking it because the food is consistently wonderful! We consider it among the very best in Atlanta and is our personal favorite. The mussels are our favorite appetizer in town! Desserts are also wonderful - especially the bread pudding.

We started with the scones and muffin basket which was a great teaser to begin. I had the Benedict which absolutely melted in my mouth-I loved the brioche instead of the usually heavy english muffin. My daughter got the sausage and onion omelette-perfectly made French style. Her boyfriend had the Latke Salmon dish and devoured every morsel. Of course, while in the south, I HAD to order the cheese grits and OMG! The best I think I have ever had...Christina was so sweet and swift to serve us as we were short on time.
