I never had a better Italian meal than the lunch I recently had at Babbo. It was perfect. Fabulous prosciutto, not too salty, not too sweet. The pappardelle were also exquisite. I've had many scallops, but these were, bar none, the best scallops I have ever eaten. Not chewy, as they often are, but perfect., The lemon crostini dessert was fabulous. The service was perfect too: no rush as is common in many US restaurants, the waiter was highly professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I never write reviews, but broke my own rule just for Babbo because it was so special. Way too much salt on our food. Almost biting at times.
Would have loved a few more options for us to eat gluten and dairy free,as well as no sugar (desserts). The quality of the preparation is so high and yet the health value of the food was lower than we expected.
We thought there would be amazing array of fresh vegetables/ bean in the starter courses and were surprised the produce was not organic.

The food was good. The arugula salad was salty and the scallop entrée was small (only 2). The bass was excellent and a nice portion. Wine list was impressive. We had a great meal (lunch) because getting dinner reservation is almost IMPOSSIBLE...and good selections of wine too (pricey).
The ambience is nice, just not sure why they put that gigantic flower in the middle of the walkway...
The service is good, and our meal came in a good time between appetizers, entree and dessert.
Over all we love the place, we leave in Connecticut and dont have anything like this kind of restaurant for a certain occasions. We sat upstairs, which was bright. Highly recommend the grilled octopus app--best I've ever had. All the food was outstanding. We got the tasting menu with wine pairing. Overall the food was great but some dishes were lacking. I really thought only two dishes out of the 7 stood to the level of this price tag. In retrospect I would have went with an a la carte selection.

Everything was cooked just right - the octopus was the best my husband has ever had, the pastas were fantastic - we tried the bucatini, and the Brasato al Barolo was one of the most tender meat dishes I've ever had. However, I order a pasta dish that was probably one of the best I've had - Pappardelle with Chanterelles. I was trying to stop my friends from eating off my plate. It's a simple dish but the cheese and the mushrooms went great with fresh pasta. highly recommended.
The service was great as expected. The waiter chose an excellent bottle of wine that was exactly what I asked for at a very reasonable price.
