Diner Reviews
  • "I wasn't terribly hungry. But I like the salad in a jar.."

  • "Went for brunch. Food was very, very good. Service was very, very uneven. Music was loud and bad. Oddly, in the bathroom, the music volume was positively deafening. The host was great and noted and accommodated our online request to keep a seat free for a friend who might show up late. But our first server-dude frowned a lot at us and seemed irritated we were there. I think one of the proprietors took over our table after a while, and she was delightful and attentive. The kitchen also poured smoke into the dining room at one point. So it just felt like the place was still figuring things out. I would go back for the food but it wouldn't top my list of choices just because I would be leery of the service and the blaring pop music."

  • "When Belga Cafe opened a restaurant closer to our house we could wait to try it. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. We will just go to the original in SE. It may be a bit of a hike, but at least the service is good and the food worth eating."

  • "Appetizers, entrees, & desserts were all outstanding. Beer and wine list was very extensive. Service was wonderful. Restaurant was full but didn't feel crowded or noisy. Couldn't have been a better experience."

  • "Very friendly atmosphere with a personal touch, great decor and delicious food! I had the waffle burger which had a hint of sweetness and very flavorful burger."

  • "Second time dining at B-Too and was not disappointed and glad I returned. Customer Service is GREAT and overall food presentation is wonderful!!! Great spot to take visiting friends who like to hang out."

  • "Went for first time for brunch....got the waffle with poached eggs and pulled pork- unfortunately it didn't blow my socks off. Lacked flavor and the avocado was hard. Our server was very nice, but brought the wrong bloody, then forgot my friends cofffee, then we reminded her and it still never came and in general she just wasn't around. Bummed about the food. Might try again for dinner to see if it was was an anamoly"

  • "I was really excited to try B Too for brunch. We had a reservation for 2 people at 12:15PM on a Sunday. We were there early and were not seating until 12:35PM. A waiter did not come to our table for about 20 minutes and when she did, we ordered drinks and food with the fear that she would not come back.. Our mimosas came out at the same time as our food, which is always a bad sign. The waffles were okay--Portions were not big and a bit overpriced for what you get. With so many great places on 14th street, I don't recommend this."

  • "We were a group of six with 5:30 reservations and a Studio Theater commitment at 7 PM. We had noted that on our reservation and the waiter said he would make it work. However, we were rushed at the end and were not able to have our dessert. I suspect the problem was in the kitchen. And certainly, we ad diners perhaps have to allow more time. The food is excellent here and all of us raved about our choices."

  • "My party of 2 adults and one child had a great brunch. The lobster waffle was fantastic! The nutella, banana, whipped cream crepe was very rich but delicious...would recommend sharing. Service was prompt and attentive."

  • "We enjoyed our meal. Our waitress, Jocelyn was fantastic. We had a 3 year old to whom they were great and accommodating. Our only issue was that we were closer to the back of the restaurant, and the chef continued to berate his staff through our brunch. We found it not only distracting to our ability to enjoy our meal but also caused us great concern for the well being of the staff. We would consider going back, but not sure whether we want to support such management."

  • "The brunch was very good, despite small portions. The service was friendly, but distracted. The music was so loud, however we felt like we were in a nightclub. We could barely have a conversation. It really took away from the meal."

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful dinner experience at B Too. We shared two types of mussels and were really happy with our food and beer choices. Frites were fine but not groundbreaking. Our only complaint, and what will probably keep up from returning often, is that the prices are slightly higher than feels appropriate. The cheapest beer is $8 and most are around $10-$15. The mussels range from $20-$25. We loved our meal, but it was definitely a special occasion place and sadly will not be our next go-to place for a night out. Highly recommend the garlic mussels though."

  • "We showed up for our 8:30 reservation at 8:15 and were told it would be 15 to 20 minutes. We were not seated until 9:20 and when they attempted to seat us at a table downstairs, other people had just been given the table. Over hearing our complaints, the owner did rush to get a table ready for us and we were given our second order of free fries and four glasses of Cava. After that complete disaster, the server and the food were great. However, the earlier delay really makes it hard to recommend."

  • "So glad I finally got to try to B Too. I am a Belgium fan and had heard of this restaurant a couple of times since moving to DC in August 2013. The hostess was from Bruges! That was so awesome - we talked about Belgium and I showed her pictures of Bruges from my two trips there in 2013. The beer selection is obviously fantastic and the mussels and frites were great! Really had a great time."

  • "B Too never disappoints. This is my third time there and each time is as good as the last. The food is consistantly delicious as are their drinks. I love going with groups so I can taste as much as possible. I would go back again and again!"

  • "All six of us enjoyed our meals. Since it's Belgian, there were plenty of mussels offerings as well as many other choices. Some in our party had the mussels, some had the hanger steak with fries, and I had salmon. All was delicious. The josper vegetables as an appetizer were great! When we sat down at our table, the blower nearby was making it a bit too cool. Within moments of mentioning it to our waiter, the chef came out, apologized, and told us he had adjusted it. Very nice! We'd definitely go back."

  • "Something in the kitchen kept burning and there was a haze of smoke that covered the main eating area. Was pretty annoying. If they can fix this they would get better grades. The food is always good. If you are looking for a different brunch than usual, check this place out."

  • "I've lunched twice at B-Too both with the intention of trying to love it. Both times I've been disappointed. I think in both cases it has been a combination of cold, impersonal service and a price point 10-20% beyond what I'd expect that has soured me. Food quality is very solid. Menu is diverse and interesting. But $21-24 for mussels and frites at lunch creates expectations the very solid offerings can't meet. Had similar sticker shock over a burger (can't access lunch menu online). And if these prices were accompanied by warm and friendly service, they could be more easily digested- -but they weren't. I'm afraid I'm not up for a third attempt to realize the charm."

  • "I went to dinner with my wife and parents. I would highly recommend this place - portion sizes were perfect. The plating was gorgeous, the food was very good, and the service was friendly. You can tell the owners really cared about making this a comfortable and yet high end place."

  • "Fantastic three-hour Sunday brunch. Amazing waffels, eggs. Chef is especially great with deserts. Beer that is even hard to get in Belgium."

  • "The single waffle I got for $12 was prepared well, along with the poached pear, apple, and whipped cream that came on the plate. But for $12, I would have appreciated at least 2 waffles, as they are not large by any means. I was not even close to feeling full after this "meal." My server was very short with me. He came up to me and his greeting was "you know what you want?" Really? Not what I would expect from a restaurant created by Chef Bart."

  • "Mussels were excellent. Will definitely return on Tuesdays for their $16.95 mussel pots. Food portions are on the small side for the price, but the combinations are very interesting. Macaroni and cheese dish was bland and would not get again. Very happy with the salmon dish and the scallop dish. Temperature in the restaurant was very warm. We were seated by the kitchen and it was uncomfortably warm. Since were with a group of 7, our seating options were limitied - they only had two large tables - but next time I would request a seat near the front of the restaurant."

  • "For a 10:15am brunch, the music was more suited for the evening lounge/party time. The eggs that were advertised as over easy were cooked throughly and the time that it took for us to get our food was quite slow given there wasn't many people dining yet."

  • "This restaurant is a sister of Belga Cafe. We had the lobster mussels and the 3lb steak. The mussels was dry and unflavorful. The porterhouse was also mediocre. We were disappointed."

  • "My wife and I had dinner for the second time, bringing along another couple. The food was outstanding, even more memorable than the first time. The lobster waffle is a treat and the B Too mussels were among the best we'd ever had. The entrees (we had rabbit, branzino and salmon) were again spectacular. B Too has a most unique selection of game dishes, which is one of several things that set it apart. Another is the extensive wine and beer list. We were very well tended to, and our server Greg was top notch. He was remarkably knowledgeable about all aspects of the menu. B Too may not have the best ambience and can get a bit noisy at times, but other than that there is no down side to this wonderful restaurant. Highly recommended."

  • "We had a very pleasant brunch with friends & an infant. Everyone was accommodating to our request for a spot for a car seat. It got a bit loud as more people arrived, but that's just a sign of how fun the place can be. The restroom doesn't have a changing table, but the sink counter is large enough for a not too wiggly baby (do bring a changing pad). The only thing is that there is a speaker just above the toilet in a relatively small space, and it wasn't the most relaxing for an infant, but we survived. Not sure if it's mobile kid-friendly, but definitely worked for an infant (we were seated downstairs, so restroom access was easier. Not sure if there's a restroom upstairs). Great food too! Do try the blood sausage waffle!"

  • "Went here with 3 friends to get some fabulous brunch waffles and cocktails. Bloody mary was great, not watered down which is my biggest pet peeve. Got the cornbread waffle with pulled pork, egg, and avocado and wasn't disappointed. Cornbread waffle was very unique and the meal was filling and not as heavy as I thought it would be which was perfect! I was jealous of the waffle quiche that my friends got because the taste and flavor was out of this world, although they were admittedly stuffed. The service was responsive and polite. But, not only do they have the presumptive non-splitting of the checks mentality but they also charge you based on how many times you ask for it to be split. Come on, guys. It's 2014. Maybe a little convenience?"

  • "We needed a place to have brunch before going to the Studio Theatre nearby. It's a busy area for Sunday brunch and everywhere was fully booked. Opentable helped me find a table at BToo and we were so pleasantly surprised. It was fun, delicious and friendly. This will be a new favorite go to for us."

  • "I would go back to B Too anytime. Food was awesome (Chef training under my belt!) and service was attentive. What else can you want?"

  • "This was my third dining experience here, and the service was stellar. We arrived 15 minutes late and had theater after, so we felt rushed. Everything went like clock-work. We were promptly seated downstairs and our server made sure the excellent dinner, perfectly cooked, was ready in record time. This has become my go-to restaurant in the Logan Circle area."

  • "Most disappointing was the bone-in ribeye steak, which was way overcooked. I ordered it medium rare. The slices put on the plate were tolerable because they had some pink at the center, so I decided not to complain and ate a few slices. But as we ate into the steak it got more and more difficult to eat, to the point where the steak was tough to chew. I mentioned it to the staff and while they were apologetic, didn't even offer to remove it from the bill. They offered to bring out another one or give us a free desert. What if you don't want to wait another 20 minutes for another one? What if you don't want desert? My friend's duck was also overcooked. Considering the prices, our experience was disappointing and will probably not return."

  • "Our waiter, Gregory, was rude the entire time we were there. It was as if we were unwanted house guests. I will go back because the food is amazing.....but I will make sure to not only NOT have the same waiter, but to make sure that he is not even working that night (I would trust food coming out of the kitchen if he was). I already complained before leaving & left him a 16% tip.....which he came up to me & made clear he wasnt happy about it. Yes, the bad attitude just kept getting worse. I am 40, my other friend is 38 & my third friend is 50years old. So we are not children & did nothing to warrant such a bad service."

  • "We found this restaurant through Studio Theater website, and were so pleased! The food was deliscious , the service was very good, and the atmosphere was just great. One note: it seemed much quieter in the downstairs section of the restaurant, which was more enjoyable for us ."
