B. Smith'sGreatThis was my first time here (I was refered byba friend) They really didn't have many selections but what I ordered was excellent (fried chicken with gravy, greens, and hoppin john). Bridgett our waitress great.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent foodI enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. The servers were attentive to me in order to provide me with an wonderful experience. I would visit again.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Dining ExperienceThe atmosphere, food, and staff were great. It was my mom's birthday. The piano player even played "Happy Birthday" on the piano. It was my parents first time in DC. They are from Alabama. My father said that it was the best Fried Green Tomatoes that he had ever had. The Shrimp, Crawfish Étouffée was delicious and more than enough to share. The Red Velvet Cake was outstanding. My granddaughter even loved the burgers and sweet potato fries. I will definitely eat at B. Smith's again and recommend it to others!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Brunch SpotB. Smith is a classy place to have brunch with family or friends . The selection of food items varies from a waffle station to creamy
grits that melt in your mouth and it doesn't stop there . Other offerings include: catfish fingers, chicken sausage, bacon and an array
delectable desserts. The service is impeccable and the live piano player makes the experience truly unforgettable .6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday Brunch in Union StationB Smith's is a great spot for Sunday brunch especially for special occasions. It is a little pricey, but well worth the expense since the atmosphere is first class and the food is delicious. They have omelet and waffles to order, collard greens and mac and cheese, sweet potato pie and just about anything breakfast, lunch and dinner related that you can imagine. My wife loved the seafood choices on the buffet and I thought the fruit and dessert selections were outstanding. We had a noon seating and the restaurant was about three quarters full, but we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for anything. They get my highest rating for brunch.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodThe service and food were wonderful. I would go back again.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWith a little more A.C....You start with tiny biscuits (with a hint of honey) and cornbread muffins. The wait staff is attentive, but not in your face. The menu is nicely mixed, though possibly a little heavy for summer - which is why the excellent Caesar Salad is a standby. Add a prodigious amount of chicken for only $6. I would love to have added their delicious grilled shrimp, but couldn't bring myself to pay $10 for it. But we were told that Union Station controls their air conditioning, and they were sparing with it on the warm, muggy day we were there. It made the lovely, airy space feel close, and I really felt for the staff who had to be there all day. If not for that, I'd have rated everything excellent, because it usually is.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation CelebrationI chose B.Smith's for my high school senior's graduation lunch for several reasons. First, and foremost, I knew the food was great. I knew it would have entrees and appetizers for young people and the older crowd alike. As it turned out, everyone ... young and old ...followed my lead for Arnold Palmer's for their drink. Sweet, of course. The young people, surprisingly all ordered the "swamp thang" and loved it. The adults went for "appetizer entrees" to include fried green tomatoes ( a "must" at B. Smith's) and catfish tenders. We shared and tasted each other's dishes ... especially the two sides of collard greens. Overall, it was a perfect choice after three hours at Constitution Hall. Easy parking, easy access, wonderful ambience.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the experienceThere is only one problem that we thought took away from experience at B Smith's. There were 5 of us. We had to tally our own checks. Other fine dining restarants will provide a tally per person if all parties are paying separately. Nothing take away from a nice experience as having people pointing out whaat they had and then addind it up and then providing it to the server. Is that not the server's job?!!!!
This is why I gave a rating of 4 but after experinecing it all over again, I give a rating of 3.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSelective DinerThe brunch was fabulous. Great selection, scrumptuous food, wonderful presentation. I would recommend it to my affiliated organizations and friends.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery day is Mother's DayI treated my mom and daughter to B. Smith's as a late Mother's day gift (she had plans with my brother last weekend). We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The food was delicious. There was something for each of us.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI remain a fanI'm a long-time fan of B Smith's. It is one of the most attractive dining rooms on Capitol Hill, with good and often excellent service, and enough menu choices that I know a lunch guest won't be disappointed.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchWow! B Smith's Mother's Day brunch was exquisite. The food was wonderful, especially the greens, macaroni and cheese and all of that seafood (crab legs, shrimp, oysters on the half shell, etc.). They had omelets to order, waffles to order and everything we could have possibly wanted. If you haven't been there, the restaurant is in Union Station, but once inside you would never know that. It is like having an exclusive setting in the middle of one of the busiest spots in DC.
The service was seamless - every plate we finished was whisked away and our beverages were filled without our noticing.
The price was a little steep even for Washington, but in this instance, in my opinion, it was worth it.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayFood was excellent, staff was very professional and it was a great experience!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Sunday BrunchB. Smith's offers the usual buffet brunch fare - made to order omelettes and waffles, plus an assortment of breakfast, lunch, and dessert selections, including gumbo, jambalaya, and a pasta station. We went on Mother's Day, so I'm not sure if they added special items, but they also had bottomless mimosas, king crab legs, steamed shrimp, and oysters on the half shell on our visit. Everything was good, nothing was fantastic, but for a decent buffet brunch, I would definitely return. The ambiance is beautiful, in a stunning room at the Union Station. Need a second omelette station to keep the line down.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFamily Graduation OutingGreat Food, Fellowship and Family.... it was a great afternoon. !1 the Service was impecable, the waitress was great!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food not greatWe had a small group to have a send off dinner for a young man entering military service. The service was really good. Waiters were attentive and met our requests. The overall food quality was good. I was not wowed by the crabcake that I ordered nor by the desert peach cobbler. The ambiance is great. It may have improved if they had the piano actually playing during the dinner hours.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food and atmosphere...ourVery good food and atmosphere...our server was attentive and the noise level was not an issue. The typical array of southern staples created with a much healthier flare. Impressive!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways ExcellentB. Smith's is one of my favorites. The service is consistently excellent and the food is SO good.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOur friendly and attentiveOur friendly and attentive waiter made our dinner memorable, especially since we were dining before going to "The Pullman Porter Blues" at Arena Stage.12/19/2012 12:00:00 AM
