B&O American Brasserie - Hotel Monaco
The bar and restaurant areThe bar and restaurant are well above average for a hotel, but the parking is well below what is expected for a hotel, severely understaffed.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrated AnniversaryWe stayed at Hotel Monaco this past weekend. Due to our late Friday arrival; we decided to eat at B&O American Brasserie. I mentioned our anniversary when I booked and wanted a quiet, private table. Not only was this arranged, but the manager sent a bottle of champagne to our room and had another glass ready at our table! The food was great, attentive servers and loved the ambiance! I would highly recommend this place to others and we' ll be back for sure.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWould be our local if closerVeuve Cliquot for $7 til 7:59? I love it. Great HH prices, cool rustic industrial vibe. Had the Brussels sprouts, flavorful, the barrata was a bit too soft, the snapper crudot had nice freshness and the bison tartare was hearty. The fried chicken was decent....seemed iron skillet so crispy on one side....good mashed.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing ServiceWe called to ask if we could make our reservation, which we'd had for some time, still work given a tight window between two graduations. The staff offered to arrange for pre-ordering our lunch -- they emailed menus, called to make sure they were accommodating every dietary need in our group, and had our meal ready to fire in the kitchen when we called to say we were almost there. When we arrived after a busy morning of events -- and had only an hour for lunch -- everything went like clockwork. Great food and the most accommodating mangers and servers we've had at any restaurant in Baltimore. Food service has the word service in it for a reason and this was service in the old-world sense. AND the food was amazing. We'll be back and back....6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMloved it!Outstanding food and the best service in Baltimore!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything about this placeEverything about this place is great. I have eaten here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. On our last visit there was one dinner item that did not meet the diner's expectations. The staff (waitress and chef) were extremely accomodating and made it right! Everyone in our party left happy.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat drink menu & foodThe food is great, but it was the huge cocktail menu that really impressed us when here for dinner. Great for a special occasion!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMProbably best in the cityThis place almost always satisfies. It's tremendous and sometimes stunning. The drinks are even better but you better specify Brendan. He's the cocktail master.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Mother's Day BrunchWe spent our Mother's Day at the B&O with my future in-laws. We had great service, food and fun. There was a nice variety of food and it was all delicious and well prepared! Definitely worth a visit if you are near the Inner Harbor.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA beautiful location withA beautiful location with outstanding food! There wasn't a single bite that didn't have me regretting my order :) Very delicious and the restaurant is gorgeous.
Our server was (as it appeared) the only server working on the lower level and she was clearly distracted by the busy tables, but that didn't take away from the great food!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMReally like this placeConvenient to Everyman Theater - a 3 block, 5 minute walk. appetizers/starters were wonderful. The chicken, even though done sou vide, was still dry. Wine list is good but way overpriced!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and serviceWonderful meal with my parents who were in town. Great service. Only complaint is that for the price point, servings are quite small.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Very LoudWhen we began our meal, the restaurant had few patrons and was very quiet. As if began to fill up, the noise lever increased to the point that the four of us couldn't really have a conversation that all could hear. The food and service was very good. Between the four of us, we had three different dishes (2 fish, 1 pork) and all very very good. Dessert was very good also. I would have give the B&O 5 stars, but for the noise.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDate Night ReviewWe picked B&O American Brasserie due to its relatively close proximity to the Hippodrome. We should have picked it just to pick it! It was delicious and the suggestions made by the staff were spot on. I guess a new menu has recently been introduced and everything we ate was amazing. Top notch!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThis Kimpton restaurant isThis Kimpton restaurant is located in an historic building and the interior is not to be missed. Service and food outstanding. Highly recommend.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMlunchWe had lunch for a co-worker who is starting a new job. We were able to make reservations the day of the luch. There was a table ready for us with the number of people dining. The waiter was attentive, polite and efficient. The food was very good. None of our party was disappointed with their choice.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Anniversary dinner! My husband & I went here for our 1yr anniversary. They seated us at a great comfy booth. The strawberry soup the chef sent out was delicious and their cocktail list is not only extensive but creative and tasty. We had the mozzerella appetizer that we loved as well as a bison tartar that was very tasty but a bit on the small side. Both of our meals were delicious, ribeye, and rock fish. At the end of the meal the server brought us over champagne to celebrate which was a great little bonus! This was a great pick for our celebratory dinner thank you!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a magnificent mealWe had a magnificent meal and outstanding customer service. We highly recommend on the fish dishes and dessert. It was easily the best dining experience we have had in several months.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great and theThe food was great and the cocktails were excellent. The service was amazing. Our waiter was so attentive. The service is what you would expect in a restaurant, but you seldom receive these days. A very good place for dinner before a show at one of the local theaters.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMrecommendVery pleasant experience. The ambiance was delightful, no loud music or noise. The food was well prepared and there was a good variety of items from which to choose. Service was a little slow, but that was because our server was overworked. Considering all, she did a great job.
I intend to return.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service creativeExcellent service creative menu close to mariner arena4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Date NightThe food was amazing and our waiter was great. He was just the right amount helpful and absent and i hope I reflected that in his tip.
Fisherman's stew was amazing and the $20 burger was well worth it. My date had a steak meal and she was also very satisfied. I did like the nice variety of the house drinks and wines as I love trying new drinks at new restaurants. A little pricey for the portion sizes but the food is very good and we will be going back.
It was loud. However, it was happy hour Friday right before an O's game so that may be the reason. It did die down as the night went on.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe only reason I am givingThe only reason I am giving the ambiance a "very good" is that it can be a little chilly in the dining room.
The B&O have the best brussels sprouts in the city... and I have had my fair share or brussels sprouts. YUM!
The carpaccio and the the tartar are also amazing. The local root vegetables, although delish, were not particularly inventive....4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for brunch and the foodWent for brunch and the food was really good. Only thing I would have changed was to have our drinks always kept full.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI was pleasantly surprisedI was pleasantly surprised by the food last night.. the bison carpaccio was great and the tabasco sorbet on the oysters was a treat. We found the dishes to be creative and well executed. Only the fisherman's stew was a little lacking in flavor, overall. Our server was attentive and well-informed. A great choice when going to the theater (Hippodrome), which is a quick 5 minute walk.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDifferent and unique menu.Different and unique menu. Service, food and noise all good for business or friends. Will return.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, unusual combinationsGreat food, unusual combinations to die for, Great wine rec. Chardonnay, beet salad the best, shrimp with pea risotto.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThere are quiet tables upstairs. There are quiet tables upstairs. The lobby of the adjoining hotel Monaco is not to be missed - a vast hall of white marble with magnificent staircase. The Brasserie's flounder was astoundingly fresh and perfectly cooked! Our server was very helpful and attentive. Altogether a very enjoyable dinner.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had breakfast and dinner....foodWe had breakfast and dinner....food was very good but the long staircase to get to the upstairs dining area was a bit initmidating to a handicapped person ( I am one) going up and down. To enjoy a quieter dining area required more effort than I care for in getting to, as the dining area upstairs appeals more I would think to the middle age and senior set. Again the food was good but not worth the ascent and descent to/from the dining area on the 2nd level.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPopcorn garnished bisque wasPopcorn garnished bisque was good not spectacular. The fries were unremarkable while the burger was very good with a nice combination of cheese and bacon and cooked exactly as ordered. The service was attentive and accurate. The waiter could perhaps dial down just a little bit.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat staff. They tended toGreat staff. They tended to us right away. They came periodically and didn't even really interrupt our conversation. The service and food was great.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful meal atWe had a wonderful meal at B&O Brasserie. Our server was attentive, enthusiastic and knowledgeable.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMfood was delicious but onefood was delicious but one entrée was unfortunately served room temperature at best-
loved the crab macaroni and cheese
would return3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe downstairs bar area hasThe downstairs bar area has a mod, contemporary feel, but the upstairs dining area is more "clubby" with dark colors and leather banquettes. Especially enjoyed the privacy screens between some of the tables - it made for a cozy feel. The menu offered a number of local and seasonal (although for the end of March, their selections felt a bit wintery)elements. We enjoyed the cheese plate to start and for entrees, the BBQ ribs and ossubuco. We were not adventurous enough to try any of the signature cocktails - many were made with bourbon, not out favorite - but our drinks and wine choices were good. Service was attentive and very knowledgeable. Too pricy for everyday, but will be on our once-in-a-while rotation.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic!!Fantastic restaurant. Amazing food. Great drink list. Excellent service. Made our trip to Baltimore incredible.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy party and I enjoyed theMy party and I enjoyed the ambiance and the friendly staff. The food was flavorful and had generous portions. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good meal in a laid back artsy atmosphere.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent for allFood was excellent for all the diners (4), service was prompt and friendly.
Would return and would recommend this restaurant.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMamzing food & drinks, get a boothAmazing food & the perfect accessibility from our hotel room upstairs. At the beginning of our meal we selected our own cocktails after briefly discussing our individual tastes with the server - for our second drinks we asked her to choose - and she amazed us with two more perfectly chosen delicious cocktails - obviously remembering what we had so briefly mentioned at the very beginning of the meal, we were so impressed and they went deliciously with our dinner and dessert.
We were a little disappointed that we were seated in an awkwardly positioned table that left us on display in the center of the room where it felt like we were intruding upon the people in the booths, but by the time delicious food came it was mostly forgotten3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant restaurant, with theElegant restaurant, with the tables in a quieter area overlooking the lively bar area. Along with booths, tables are not jammed together, allowing patrons a more intimate dining experience. We went for dinner, and at night, this place is not a "family" restaurant; it's atmosphere is more appropriate for adults to enjoy a sophisticated night out.1/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of BaltimoreHad a business lunch at the B&O. As usual, the food was fantastic and the service was outstanding. We both had the soup and sandwich, and the soup was delicious. B&O continues to be the best restaurant in the Inner Harbor area of Baltimore.12/18/2012 12:00:00 AM
