A word from B&G Oysters
B&G Oysters is a modern yet classic take on the oyster bar. Located in Boston's South End, B&G Oysters has a decidedly neighborhood feel, combining polished but friendly service with fantastically fresh seafood dishes and food-friendly wines. B&G Oysters has received many accolades over the years for its cuisine and wine program including "Best Seafood" in 2007 and 2008 by Boston Magazine.

This subterranean spot draws energy from its open kitchen which is surrounded by a white marble bar. In warmer weather, enjoy drinks and more on the stone patio; a favorite outdoor dining spot in the city. Please note that all reservations are for the interior of the restaurant. Our patio is available solely on a walk-in basis.

Definitely a must go! The food, the staff, and environment was great! My group got there a bit early, so we had to wait for our table for a bit, but the staff was very accomodating and checked in with us from time to time asking if we were ok and if wanted anything to drink. For dinner we had: roasted squash cannelloni, fried oysters, new england clam chowder, squid ink spaghetti, and fresh oysters from Nova Scotia and Connecticut. Roasted squash was cooked very well as it was very warm and creamy and seasoned very well. The fried oysters were greatly paired with an in-house made mayo sauce which was very tasteful and not too salty. The new england clam chowder had a lot of seafood and potatoes, a bit on the salty side (possibly from the salted fish in it?) Wasn't as thick as I thought would be and not what I'm used to (I'm not sure how thick or not think clam chowder is suppose to be). But still yummy nonetheless! Squid ink was a first, so I didn't know what to expect. The spaghetti was black from the ink and with some sour notes, but overpowering. I have nothing to compare it to, nor do I know what it should taste like, but I would definitely get it again! The oysters were definitely fresh, no fishy smell, went down easily. Overall a great experience, good vibes, a great food! Will definitely try the lobster roll the next time!

I hadn't been to B&G in nearly three years but I'm sure I'll be heading back soon! I had forgotten how great it is-- both the food and the service. Our group shared the sugar snap pea salad (loved it-- very different from what I imagined from menu description) and fried oysters. Highly recommend both! And, the swordfish entree was delicious -- the gnocchi, hen of the woods mushrooms and sweet potato as delicious as the fish. The entree portions aren't large -- but, from my perspective, perfectly sized. One can have an appetizer and entree without feeling too full. There was a nice buzz (without being loud) and the service, as I generally find at Barbara Lynch restaurants, was lovely and helpful!

The quality of the food product and its preparation are generally flawless. However, the attitude of the staff and the service are, at best, indifferent and range from diffident to dismissive. So, this is a place to 'eat but not dine'.

We had a great lunch here recently on a Sunday. Table was ready upon our arrival, service was very nice and quick, and food was delicious. The owners might consider a brunch menu as the tab for 12 oysters, 2 lobster rolls, no alcohol or dessert was $115.

This was our first visit to B&G Oysters and were very satisfied with our meal. The oysters were delicious. We also order small plates including a wonderful arugula / butternut squash salad that I am still thinking about. The wine menu was very unique with a lot of European wines by the glass. The service was very professional and knowledgeable..would definitely go back!

The oysters were peerless--both raw and fried. The fried are the best in town, moist, not too heavily breaded, and they came with a perfect sauce. I also had a seasonal salad. It was beautiful to look at, had a light dressing that did not camouflage the ingredients, and was delicious.

Recommended by a local friend of ours as the "best of the best" was an understatement. This quaint, cozy and vibrant spot offered excellent service and just incredible food. A rainy saturday afternoon turned into one of our best Boston experiences. For starters a dozen local oysters set the tone with a glass of fine white wine. My wife ordered the lobster roll which is one of the house favorites while I had melt in your mouth fried clams. Needless to say, everything was SPECTACULAR.

The staff were polite, knowledgeable, and stayed on top of keeping our water glasses filled and making sure we had an opportunity to order more drinks before the glasses were completely finished. The oysters were fresh, and the food in general was delicious. We had made a reservation for four, and the staff were very nice about one of our party arriving half an hour late due to traffic. I would definitely dine there again.

Food and service were excellent. There for an anniversary diner, with a reservation. Started off poorly when host tried to sit us at bar after requesting a table. Repeatedly telling us there were no tables available even though there were many empty tables. Prepared to leave before he "found" us a table. Once done dealing with the host, everything else was super, but a disappointing way to start.

We were super pumped to try B&G Oysters after reading reviews on Yelp, Food & Wine, and Bon Appetit saying it was one of the best seafood places in Boston. Unfortunately, everything we had was just "okay". And what really surprised us is everything was under seasoned! I was super embarrassed to have to ask for salt, but it just wasn't worth paying the price we did and not enjoying it. I will say the decor is adorable, especially in the bathroom. However, all in all it was the worst place we ate during our trip in Boston. Not because it was bad but just because it wasn't really that memorable.

3 diners for dinner. Despite the restaurant being packed, we enjoyed friendly and attentive service. We had the best inside seats, the bench right inside the front window, was fantastic to watch the restaurant in action. Oyster selection amazing! We did 6 varieties, all terrific. Table bread a little underwhelming, the oil uniquely rich. Gem salad and corn appetizers Amazing, calamari was a disappointment (boring, tough). Cavatelli w crab was delicious, but portion on the small side. Salmon en papillote was a table pleaser. Blueberry tart tasted great, but custard was a little runny. Wine by glass overpriced, food items pushing it a bit too. Overall a great ambience and meal, we would go back, just a little shy on value.

Love B&G. I have been a few times, but this time was no exception to the great service and excellent food. Oyster selection is phenomenal, and we chose to eat a bunch of oysters and appetizers instead of any entrees. The food was delicious and when we didn't love one of the appetizers, without prompting, the waitress took it off our bill because she "would rather we were thrilled by everything on the check".
