A word from B&G Oysters
B&G Oysters is a modern yet classic take on the oyster bar. Located in Boston's South End, B&G Oysters has a decidedly neighborhood feel, combining polished but friendly service with fantastically fresh seafood dishes and food-friendly wines. B&G Oysters has received many accolades over the years for its cuisine and wine program including "Best Seafood" in 2007 and 2008 by Boston Magazine.

This subterranean spot draws energy from its open kitchen which is surrounded by a white marble bar. In warmer weather, enjoy drinks and more on the stone patio; a favorite outdoor dining spot in the city. Please note that all reservations are for the interior of the restaurant. Our patio is available solely on a walk-in basis.

3 diners for dinner. Despite the restaurant being packed, we enjoyed friendly and attentive service. We had the best inside seats, the bench right inside the front window, was fantastic to watch the restaurant in action. Oyster selection amazing! We did 6 varieties, all terrific. Table bread a little underwhelming, the oil uniquely rich. Gem salad and corn appetizers Amazing, calamari was a disappointment (boring, tough). Cavatelli w crab was delicious, but portion on the small side. Salmon en papillote was a table pleaser. Blueberry tart tasted great, but custard was a little runny. Wine by glass overpriced, food items pushing it a bit too. Overall a great ambience and meal, we would go back, just a little shy on value.

We dined at B&G twice in a week and both times both the raw oysters and the fried oysters were superb/ People in our party had clam chowder, lobster BLT, fried clams and mussels and raves from everyone. It has been quite awhile since we ate at B&G but it will be a more frequent event going forward.

finally made it to oyster heaven in Boston. amazing selection of oysters. fried clams were actually CLAMS, not bits and pieces. tasty, succulent. lobster roll over-priced but all lobster, no filler. would go for mid-afternoon lunch, not for dinner due to wait.

Love B&G. I have been a few times, but this time was no exception to the great service and excellent food. Oyster selection is phenomenal, and we chose to eat a bunch of oysters and appetizers instead of any entrees. The food was delicious and when we didn't love one of the appetizers, without prompting, the waitress took it off our bill because she "would rather we were thrilled by everything on the check". Great service!

If you miss out on the fried oysters you are crazy - and go ahead and order a second plate because they are just that good. They are amazing. Small restaurant with great character. Pasta with crab was excellent. Service was great, our server kept an eye from afar and her timing was perfect. Will go again when back in Boston.

Food was good but Boston is full of restaurants that serve good food. There was nothing outstanding here. The noise level in the restaurant was intolerable. We finally gave up trying to have a conversation as it was not possible without literally yelling at each other. Service was ok but very difficult to hear server over the din. The halibut was very good. Oysters were ok

If you are in the mood for great oysters in Boston, this is the place to go. Since I'm not familiar lots of different kinds, i had to rely on our waitress to make suggestions. After just a few questions on likes and dislikes, she brought some over for us to enjoy. They were so good, we had to go back for seconds. I will definitely visit B&G Oysters the next time I'm in town.

I love this place! We had a 9:30 reservation so they had run out of lobster. Too bad because they do have the best lobster roll! Wait staff were chomping at the bit to get rid of us after an hour so if you want to linger don't go late! Well, ok, it was the Sunday night before Labor Day...

We found this restaurant about 2 years ago on a show on Netflix's. The lobster roll was the highlighted dish, and we couldn't wait to have one. Our first trip to B&G in 2013 surpassed every expectation and did so again on our most recent trip in 2014. They oysters were fresh, the lobster roll was sweet and juicy, and the overall feel of the restaurant was fun yet charming. Sits tucked away on a corner on Tremont St. and is definitely worth the drive from PA any day.

The oysters are delicious, however the portion size of the mains are small. The small lobster roll leaves much to be desired. It's not a great meal when you want your last bite to be a french Fry. The clam chowder tasted like bacon. It's clearly a funky popular spot but also overrated.

The three of us had a lovely late lunch sitting on the patio outside. Contrasted to the "lively" ambience inside, we first were the only table sitting outside, later joined only by another two tables. After an initial delay of having to wait too long for the waitstaff, the lunch and service were terrific. One-and-a-half dozen oysters, a tasty snap pea salad, a lobster roll and lobster BLT later, we left happy and satisfied.

This was my second visit to B & G Oysters and it did not disappoint! We had wonderful service (though we did find the hostess a bit rude and wanting to rush us out of our seats!) I will definitely be back- the food is delicious… we had oysters, a crab/lobster dish, and the cod. When we decided afterwards that we would like to have a cheese plate, we were secured a spot across the street at the sister restaurant, The Butcher Shop (another incredible spot!) I have now been to both B & G Oysters and The Butcher Shop twice and been thrilled. I will definitely try out their other restaurants on my next visit as I have learnt they have a few more sister restaurants :)

NOT A SINGLE PERSON MADE US FEEL WELCOMED. IGNORED THE ENTIRE time! My friend and I were celebrating a 50th Birthday and made notes in the open table. The staff made no mention of any special luncheon. Honesty, they could not care a less whether we were dining or NOT! This high price dungeon needs to greatly improve their customer service. I ordered the oyster three coarse pre fix that came to the table right away. My friend ordered just a bowl of soup and it did not come until I was completely finished with all three courses. No one ever ask him when he would welcome his entrée? The oysters were amazing delicious but we can get the same oysters at not your average Joes on Mondays nights for a $1.00 a piece your charging like $3.50 ech

I kept hearing that this restaurant was great and the lobster roll was amazing. Maybe I expected something that would blow me away like the Lobster roll at Neptune Oyster which I am going to say is the best Lobster roll in the world. This one was just mediocre and the menu was ok. Crab doughnuts were fun and oysters were fresh and tasty. My sea bass was just ok and dessert menu is very limited. Nice fun vibe.

B&G has a quaint patio and good service. The staff wasn't overly friendly or energetic by any means though. They are called B&G Oysters for a reason- come here solely for the oysters. They have a wide selections and are fresh. For entrees, they are over priced and small portions. The friend oysters and calamari were tasty appetizers. Overall I would suggest this restaurant for a drink and oyster- you can find better seafood entrees throughout Boston.

I took my parents here for my Father's birthday because he loves raw oysters. The service was friendly and helpful when he had questions and attentive throughout the meal. The fried oysters were great for the table and my favorite part since I don't eat seafood was that the restaurant just smelled like good food not dead fish. The bill was heavfty for lunch ($170 including tip for 3 people) but worth it to see my parents satisfied. I'm glad we finally made it here.

Weekday lunch was really duller than used dishwater. Raw oysters delicious, but cooked entrees were utter duds. Moules frites were drenched in an acrid/bitter lemon rind bath. Soft shell crab BLT sandwich was completely not crispy and tasteless . Order any frites, you get short little dreg nubs of potatoes, which are obviously the bottom of the bag, and are not appetizing. If you want real frites? Go to McDs. Love, love, love Barbara Lynch, but this resto leaves so much to be desired. Bottom line: order raw and don't touch cooked.

I really don't know what to say other than every course our plates were wiped clean once we were done. Started with some oysters and the soft shell crab. It's a beautiful thing when you order from the raw bar and the shellfish is shucked as cleanly as possible. The crab was cooked perfectly and left us wanting more. I ordered the black bass entree while my SO ordered the skate wing - both were incredible. To top it off, we had an amazing waitress who guided us through some indecisive moments. She was quite educated on what B & G has to offer and comical to boot! I would eat there every single night of my life if my wallet could manage the trips. Might even be the best seafood experience I have ever had. Thank you, B & G.
