A word from Azzurra
Azzurra is a rustic seasonal Italian restaurant located in the heart of Chicago’s exciting Wicker Park neighborhood. Upon entering the restaurant, you will immediately feel comfortable – as if you’ve been there before.

Our menu reflects traditional meals served in a home in Italy. As is customary with home cooking – many of our selections are “fatto en casa” or home made. The breads, pastas, sausages and desserts will all be made in house by our team of chefs.

Another pillar of our menu is freshness and authenticity. We purchase what is best, and at its peak, in the market daily – another similarity with the Italian lifestyle. This seasonal selection process ensures our guests receive the freshest ingredients available. Azzurra’s menu is based entirely on this concept and change regularly, including specials. We know when these ingredients are in season, and at their peak, they are also the most flavorful.

We look forward to serving you!

I live nearby and have been going to Azzurra almost since it opened maybe 1½-2 years ago. For a small restaurant, the menu is large and varied, and it seems every dish is delicious. Serving sizes are not huge. Unlike some Italian restaurants, Azzurra impressed you with their quality, not necessarily quantity.

  • Italian & Tapas - Great Combo!

Had some friends in from out of town and went here for dinner w/ a group of 8 on Saturday night. Had a reservation, but quite a few of us ended up running 15 mins late. For a small restaurant, they were extremely accommodating & did not require our entire party to be there before they sat us. We ordered a selection of tapas, as well as a large plate of the pici pasta & the short rib dinner to share. The food was all above average, but the pasta & the proscuitto/pear tapas plate were by far the best. The only item I really didn't care for was the stuffed dates. I've had them before at other tapas restaurants, & these were not up to par in comparison. They were out of almost all of the wines we tried to order, so that was kind of a damper.

Seeing that it had a 2015 Michelin "Bib" rating we were expecting a bit more. The food was good (and reasonably priced) --just nothing spectacular or memorable. The narrow wine list was reasonably priced, but with that narrow a list you should not run out of a wine at 8:00 (as they did). And service was SLOW. Credit the waiter for recognizing it and bringing out a sample plate of some appetizers, but 2 hours for a dinner without desert was too long. I'd still go, but with much lowered expectations.

Had the dates , pear salad , gnocchi, orechetti , braised short rib , & porchetta. Everything was fantastic and the gnocchi was probably the best both me and my wife had ever had. The quality that this restaurant group puts out is amazing especially for the price in the city. 29 dollars for three items . Are you kidding me. You cannot find a better deal.

Possibly due to the tin ceilings, noise level can be deafening at times. Space is limited, and hostess let some patrons wait at the bar, practically on top of several tables. Food was decent; great but not memorable; although generally well-priced. Overall, there are better Italian options.

We were going to Davenport's for a show and needed a restaurant nearby as parking is difficult to find in that neighborhood especially at night. We found Azzurra on Yelp and due to the praises the restaurant was receiving, we made a reservation for 6:00. Note - the noise level was modest early in the evening but by the time we left, the noise level had risen considerably making conversation much more difficult for listening. Each item we ordered including small plates and 3 entrees were wonderful. Follow advise from reviews on Yelp and you cannot go wrong - the eggplant appetizers were great. The braised beef entree had a really wonderful sauce and the pasts were all wonderful.

We have only eaten at Azzura twice but have enjoyed both dinners. Food is both creative and familiar. And that's hard to do. Sorry the eggplant parm was not on the menu on our second visit because it was the best we have ever had but it was replaced with roasted brussel sprout leaves which were just as good.

Love the Monday no corkage BYOB. That's what the lured me...and the food is what impressed. The braised pork shoulder and the fresh pasta were standouts. They also easily accommodated a request to grill the calamari instead of deep frying it...most places use frozen, pre-breaded calamari...these guys grilled it up to tender perfection. There was no rush in service even though we ended up closing the place down...

It was worth plowing through Milwaukee Avenue traffic on a Friday night to have dinner at Azzurra, an Italian restaurant where you won't find the old standards but rather inventive and delightful pasta and other dishes. Portions were plentiful without being overly so and the wait staff makes you feel welcome. There is lots of street parking although it is limited to two hours, which is ridiculous on a street lined with restaurants, so watch you time and add time so you can chat over a cappuccino

Given the reviews I was expecting a better meal. The waiter recommended the fish special (polenta crusted whitefish) but it was disappointingly dry. Another person in our group ordered the duck and was also disappointed. The pastas were better in taste. The portions if the appetizers were small for sharing amongst four people. There were some different regional Italian wines on the menu that aren't often seen on menus which was one positive.

Got tired of long waits in river north so we ventured out west and were immediately seated in a cute restaurant. The menu had a lot of tasty small plates and is vegetarian-friendly (one in our group is a vegetarian). We loved all our dishes: salad, fried calamari, half artichoke, pasta, & pork milanese (albeit very thin). The lemon dessert was good, but the chocolate pudding was just ok... the texture was a little grainy and off. Cute neighborhood gem with reasonable prices, I'd come back.

I had a first date there. They gave us a nice table outside. They table was very wobbly which the waiter fixed. He was enthusiastic and friendly while he took our orders. The first course came out relatively quickly. Then he disappeared. It was close to 50 before before I saw him or our main course. Food was very good. Entertaining watching all the cast of characters walking and driving up and down Milwaukee Ave. Service needed some work. Parking on the weekends is a little challenging. Leave extra time.

I was really excited to try a new Italian place. The menu and the ambiance looked right on track. The food was good, but not special. The appetizer platter was just OK. The polenta fries were pretty but were served with a boring sauce. I think it was mayo with a little tomato blended in to it. The soprasetta pasta was pretty good. It was tasty and well balanced. My only gripe with it is that it was the size of a small plate, not the size of an entree.
