Diner Reviews
  • "My family was very excited to eat at Azurea. It was my parents first experience. My husband and I had eaten there twice before, and had exceptional service & food. We had wanted to eat outside, but the rain kept us in. The hostess made sure we had a great table, with lovely views. The food was still great, but clearly the restaurant was not staffed properly for the night. We dined right when they opened at 6pm... Trying to beat the dinner crowd. It seems like there were 2 servers for the entire restaurant. We started off with very attentive service that dwindled as the night went on. We had to ask several times for small plates for sharing of sides, coffee to be refilled and our (very empty) plates to be cleared."

  • "We partook in the chef inspired 5 course tasting menu, "Adventurous Palate." Was wonderful and truly inspired; on par with Craft and other NYC gems. The best meal we have had in Jacksonville!"

  • "I wanted a special place to take my lady friends & chose Azurea because of the beach views. Well, it was much more than that! Your experience begins with your walk through the Blue Tunnel entrance. Our server Katherine was exceptional. Our lunch was superbly prepared. My Azurea Seafood Salad was beautiful, but more importantly flavorful. The calamari, seared scallops & shrimp were not the over cooked fare served at lesser venues. This chef loves food! Just when you think it couldn't get better, we ordered dessert. My caramel macchiato cheesecake was great, but my friends Southern Pavlova should not be missed! I rate my experience with some of my favorite dining spots like La Mer in HI, Maxim's in Singapore or The Black Pearl in Newport RI."

  • "Oh my goodness! Azurea is the BEST restaurant we've ever been to. Our server Dwayne tended to our every need. He knows the menu so well and he was such a fantastic person. He suggested wine that complimented our entree. I love how they bring out sample foods and breads with cheese, they allow sufficient time in-between courses to allow you savor the flavor. You have to get the sea bass. It melts like butter in your mouth! Your visit to Atlantic Beach, Jacksonville would not be complete without dining at Azurea!"

  • "I read mixed reviews for Azurea, now I know why. The restaurant opens up to a small bar, which was crowded and noisy the night we came for a romantic dinner. We asked for a table in the back away from the noise, even though there were empty ones we were told by the rude girls at the hostess station that we had to also specify a quiet table when reserving. We asked if we waited would something quiet open up, and were told to come back at 8:30. We were then seated outside which in 20 minutes became pitch black with no lights except candles on some tables, but not ours. No one bothered to bring us one so we went and got a couple off other tables... the food tasted good, but we couldn't see it. Service was onlyadequate. Not going back."

  • "The presentation and quality were five star. My wife and I were upset that we did not know how fantastic this place was. The prices were very reasonable. We will be back very soon. It was nice doing the on line reservation."

  • "Great service. Free champagne and dessert for birthday girl."

  • "Took over 30 minutes to bring us coffee and OJ. Food took a long time as well and my wife's had to be re-heated and her bread was burnt. Wouldn't go back at this point for brunch. The food quality was ok, but they were severely understaffed for a holiday brunch and that clearly falls on poor management."

  • "Our group of 5 had a really nice Father's Day lunch. We had 1:45 reservations. The restaurant was not crowded, so we never felt rushed. The service could have been a little bit faster, but the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the Chicken Club, the Salmon Salad, and the Avocado Reuben. The staff were informative and friendly. We will return. Thank you!"

  • "My husband and I ate dinner here for our first anniversary. My husband has several food allergies and the entire staff was excellent at accommodating him. Our meal was delicious and we were treated very well. We would definitely return again for another special occasion!"

  • "We had about 45 minutes for a dinner before the play. I made the waitress aware of this fact. While she tried to accommodate us on timing, I ended up standing at the end of the dinner to get her attention in order to pay and leave. The food was not impressive at all. Seafood mix was just ok. Next time, I would go to 11th South or JJ's Bistro when I want a nice expensive dinner. Unless I want some mushrooms -- they were awesome (I am Russian) :)"

  • "This is clearly one of the best restaurants in the Jacksonville area when it comes to the quality of food, its preparation and presentation. Notable is the crab cake appetizer and the sea bass entree. It is a romantic setting with views of the ocean, one of the only restaurants offering such views even at the beaches. It is a great place for special occasions. If there is anything lacking, it is the service- waiting to be seated despite reservations and available table, and somewhat less sophisticated serving staff than might be expected in this kind of high-end restaurant."

  • "This is the ultimate place in Atlantic Beach Florida, that you need to go.If they could give a restaurant 10 stars this would be it.Extraordinary, exemplary service, excellent mouthwatering food.Incredible service with pure professionalism oozing from all staff members.Terrific atmosphere for all sorts of visitors, business ,pleasureable service. You want to impress someone this IS the place to go. • "I had heard about the restaurant at One Ocean previously but had never managed to eat there until my business had a business dinner meeting with our supplier from Europe. Needless to say, they were impressed both with the high level of service and the quality of the meal. Nice to know that we have a sophisticated high end restaurant with a great view in Atlantic Beach. Will definitely return at the earliest opportunity."

  • "Our food helpers were very good, but we waited a long time for our meal. The check was brought out before I asked for it, which was kinda uncomfortable because we wanted cocktails to go with the cigars I had brought. When I requested the cocktails our food helper was very helpful, but I couldn't help feeling that we'd put him out a little bit. The food was definitely an experience, expecially the bread. We ate every piece with every bit of the additions that were offered. "

  • "Dwayne our waiter was very attentive and recommended a great wine for our dinner. They also acknowledged my wife's birthday with two glasses of complimentary champagne. The restaurant manager visited our table twice to check on us. The food was excellent, particularly the Hawaiian sea bass. Truffles for dessert was a great finishing touch. "

  • "The food was amazing, especially the scallops. I came prepared to order what was on the online menu to discover that it was outdated. So I was excited about food that I couldn't order. But the food that I had was divine and tasty! The chocolate cake was fabulous. The beet salad needed more dressing but it was good. My boyfriend had the beef and I tasted it- excellent. I requested a table for 4 by the window and when I made the reservation they said this would be ok but then we had to sit in the middle of the room because there wasn't even a table for 4 by a window. The waiter was perfect. I don't see the need to charge $25 per person for a no-show to get a reservation, that seems extreme to me.Overall, it was a pleasant experience."

  • "From the snooty greeting to the apathetic waiter to the undercooked eggs... Individually these were not show stoppers but together they make for a mediocre experience. "

  • "Second time to Azurea. First time was wedding anniversary and we had a memorable one with Azurea's help. Disappointed this time bringing the wife and kids for Mother's Day. No brunch for kids, no kids menu. Wife and kids loved their food - mine was not good. I had a beef tenderloin and it was not flavor-full. Waitress was energetic, but forgot to bring out all of our meals and at one point flicked food/coffee on to my wife's white silk blouse. We were able to walk out onto the beach from the dining area and then strolled to the local marketplace where we did some local shopping. We also noticed that one of the blue walls near the beach entrance was patched with a different color blue. Really stood out and looked sloppy."

  • "Never go back due to poor service. Went for Sunday brunch jazz. Ate inside and asked for table outside with umbrella to enjoy jazz music. Was told by Anita and Kate table set up outside and showed us table. We were waiting in paying bill to go outside and another couple were seated at our table. Jen was completely rude saying they had fulfilled our brunch with being seated inside for brunch. We advised we were told that was our designated table while waiting to get our bill and she continued to say there was nothing they were going to do as we booked online for inside. Anita was great to apologize and made sure we did get a table however the experience was worse we have encountered. Manager has yet to call when hubby left message."

  • "The food continues to be very good to excellent. Surprised at how dirty the outside tables were and how dirty and stained the inside chairs are in the restaurant. Wait staff is not really friendly. Seem more interested in pushing most expensive food and wines than giving the customers what they want."

  • "I had booked reservations for a very special dinner and evening out with my parents and guests in town for Easter weekend...the experience at Once Ocean restaurant could not have been more perfect from the greeting we received once we arrived (Manager Sean and his staff were absolutely spectacular with customer service) until the moment we left. Chef Lamar's starters, main dishes, and sweet treats at the end were all superb!! Again, I can't rave enough about how enjoyable the evening was...thank you to Manager Sean Gillespie, servers Anita and Chance, and Chef Lamar. Special thank you to Sonny Sra as well; this was the perfect place to celebrate my parents' birthdays!"

  • "The most enjoyable part of my meal at One Ocean was the lovely setting. You could see the ocean from our table which was really nice, the decor is also quite enjoyable. However, the food lacked flavour and for the price I found it was not worth it. The soup was bland and the duck flatbread i ordered was soaked in oil and soggy. Service however was quite good."

  • "We were celebrating a special anniversary and were not satisfied at all with the choice. When we walked in there was no greeter-hostess was outside. The main dining room was nearly abandoned and the tables had not been cleared form breakfast-so we were seated in the bar area. The comment was-"We were busy this morning so have not gotten around to yet" We ordered two glasses of wine, received one-sent server back. Food was good but we were disappointed with service and will not return nor recommend."

  • "Arrived on time at our reservation; booked special because my parents came in from out of town. We were then told by a server that the hostess was on break; we stood at the hostess desk for thirty minutes, we asked the server to get the manager, the manager said sorry my hostess is on break, she would get a table ready - she made us wait, while she bussed a table; Earlier, the manager saw us standing at the hostess desk and did nothing. There were other open tables - the manager could have seated us and taken our drink order. We were not seated for thirty minutes with a reservation. Sad part is that the food was good - but with such a poorly run restaurant, who would want to eat there. I would not recommend anyone go there Thanks."

  • "the food was absolutely fantastic. Our wait staff was less than impressive. Could not understand her. she was over pushy with trying to sell wines with different courses. (even though we had already ordered wine). Seem more interested in rushing us through, turning the table and sell extra stuff to jack up her tip. very unimpressive service."

  • "After reviewing the reservation-only Sunday Jazz Brunch, I thought it appropriate to enjoy our 3rd anniv. at Azurea. Upon arrival, we were asked to wait for our table, seated 20 minutes after our reservation. No one approached us after being seated. We eventually were seen and served mimosas, but never seen again by what I thought was our server. After another server came 15 mins later, she asked if we had our order taken, "no." We requested coffee, recieved it late and no condiments, and had to get our own from another table. Ambiance was very noisy, and an advertised "jazz" brunch was never heard. It is very embarrassing when your date complains, especially for an anniversary. Was hoping for more out of "fine" dining and jazz."

  • "Food was very good, but not truly noteable. And service was also good but not as helpful or attentive as you would expect at such a nice restaurant. I'm sure we'll go back some time, however we won't be in a rush."

  • "Food was good, but the hostess was cold and very rude. Service was ok, although it would have been nice to be offered a second drink or have been checked on atleast once during the meal. If you make a reservation request to be at a table and not a booth, which was the most uncomfortable seat I've ever experienced."

  • "This place is awesome. When you pull up, they have free valet (always of should always tip). The staff was very courteous. The restaurant itself is super elegant, right on the beach. It definitely comes off as a 5 star restaurant and you will think so as well. The servers are so nice and explain the menus. Food and drinks came out in a timely Manor and tasted delicious. Pricing is high but that is expected for a place of this class. Will definitely return."
