Perfectly lightly battered Al Dente Calamari coupled with a tangy marinara and bitingly, decadent garlic tartar. The huge Gambas ( swimming in this heated colorful broth) of garlic, shallots onion and definitive buttery warm,fresh, firm and divine. We ordered the app again at the end of our discovery in fact. Azu's bread bites are highly addictive. They sop up the broth and sauces too well. The seared large scallops plated with a purée of blood orange spring onions, was interesting paired with a nice chilled Sauv Blanc. I took away raspberry notes w just 3 scallops ok but lacked firmness But gelato & art kicked all!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate at Azu 2 out of 3 nightsWe ate at Azu 2 out of 3 nights in Ojai. Both times the food was fresh and flavorful, light enough but satisfying. The atmosphere is lively but not at all loud. Our server was knowledgable and friendly (but not too). The look of Azu is fairly open and contemporary w/ interesting painting/prints on the walls.
