  • "With its Michelin star, you already know that you are going to be getting a quality dining experience. Fans of Middle Eastern and Moroccan food will be delighted to enjoy the spin on California style dishes. Aziza features a delightful tasting menu ($100) and a la carte options ($30) allow for diverse dining that accommodates many budgets. If I am going to recommend anything, you must order off their cocktail menu as fresh vegetables and herbs in unique combinations make this experience a must. The fennel, dill, saffron, and black pepper vodka cocktail was expertly made with no chunks or grainy texture to mar the experience. I am a sucker for unique food and great cocktails, so this place is right up my alley."

  • "I was running late to my booking due to traffic. 1 minute after my scheduled time I receive a call from a very snooty and strict maitre´d. She told me that the kitchen were closing now and if I wanted to order anything I would have have to be here immidiately. After I hang up I tried calling back to tell her that I could order via the phone, but their phone system sent me straight to the opening hours. When she called again I said that I could order the tasting menu with pairings. She angrily, snootily said no, apparently this was "sold out". After arguing I was allowed to order a few dishes over the phone. The dishes themselves were good and the table service were fine. A horrible experience."

  • "Our first time at Aziza. A friend coming to town gave a short list of places she wanted to try. Most had noise level ratings that made us say no thank you, we won't be able to talk. Aziza was moderate so we decided to go there. It was some of the best food and service I have had in San Francisco. From starters to dessert the food was exceptional - amazing flavors, outstanding presentation, perfect pacing on courses, and we could talk to each other in conversational voices. I was so eager for each course to come so we could taste new and exciting dishes, or should I say, traditional dishes done in a modern way. We already have plans to go back again."

  • "Maybe we ordered the wrong items on the menu, but we found the food way overpriced for what we received. I had the cornish hen which was dry and less than satisfying. My friend had the fish of the day, which was plain and overdone. The best part of the meal were the olives. I do not recommend this restaurant!"

  • "We had a wonderful meal at Aziza. Fabulous and inventive cocktails to start (the Arugula-centric one, and the Lavender Orange Bloosom Honey were two standouts), and great wine to accompany our meals. We were a party of 4, and two had the Lamb Shank (melt-in-your-mouth), one had the Lamb Loin & Belly, and the fourth person had the Beef dish. All were fantastic. We all enjoyed our appetizers as well - cucumber salad, raw fish, and the cheese board, if I remember correctly. The service was excellent. I love Aziza and will go back again and again."

  • "I love the ambience at this restaurant. My boyfriend took me, and the place was full of couples--romantic atmosphere. Azizia is very typical in the "fancy" genre: dark, fairly loud, attentive waiters, mystifying/surprising ingredients in every dish, artsy plates, and of course tiny amounts of food. Let me amend that: the appetizers were tiny, but the main dishes were generous. The food was a little salty for my taste, but overall a really fun visit!"

  • "Lentil soup was sweet- it had dates... which surprised me as I've had lots in my life time yet this was the 1st time I've had it sweet. My lamb was cooked perfectly but again the sauce wasn't edible for myself- it was made with cinnamon. If you like sweet foods that should be savory than you might like this place for you but it just wasn't for me."

  • "When I googled "aziza menu", I found a menu that was pretty vegetarian friendly. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the vegetarian options were limited, and they made no attempt to make any further accommodations (they certainly were within their rights). However, if there wasn't a vegetarian friendly menu available, I wouldn't have gone there, so in the end, we were quite disappointed."

Next time I plan to order it as my main course. The lentil soup is wonderful. The couscous is light and fluffy and full of flavor and the lamb shank pleased my husband thoroughly."

  • "What a great meal we had at Aziza. While not a cheap restaurant, the quality of the food for the price is outstanding. The chefs tasting menu was definitely the way to go, almost a bit too much food. The thought put into everything from taste, presentation, temperature, texture, etc. is exceptional. The service was very good, but not outstanding, but nothing to complain about. Inventive aperitif menu was also a great way to start the meal. The only course we were not crazy about was some of the dessert, there were actually 3 dessert courses, one exceptional, the others just OK, but by that point we were also quote full so not a big deal in my opinion. It is a bit out of the way, but worth the trip for an exceptional meal."

  • "Our experience was a perfect way to end the day. The atmosphere was appropriately suited with low lighting and accommodating, cushiony seating. The aperitif and cocktail menu was full of enough wonderful choices to keep one coming back several times. The cuisine kicked off with an amazing wealth of choice for starters--do opt for the extra flatbread, a starter unto itself. And with superb choices through to afters, savour your meal with a nice drink."

Start out with one of their amazing cocktails, we tried several before diving into a great bottle of red. Aziza has been open for over 14yrs but keeps elevating their game. A must try in my book.   • "I live in the neighborhood and have gone to Aziza since it opened. It has gone from a very good restaurant to a place for foodies. Maybe that explains the attitude -- sort of a New York you are lucky to be dining with us -- attitude. I expect that in NYC but not from a restaurant on the corner of 22nd and Geary. I now find it stuffy and pretentious and miss the old touches - they used to wash our hands with rose water. The waiters used to be friendlier. But the food is better than ever -- and pricier than ever."

  • "Slow service, and very average food that doesn't live up to menu descriptors, or price tag. We started with their "spreads" appetizer, which was delicious, but wasn't served with enough flatbread to even finish half of the spreads, and there was a charge for extra flatbread (which I refused to pay as the appetizer already cost $15.) The entrees are all between $25-$35, and while the presentation was beautiful the food was very AVERAGE. My quail was simply too salty, dry, and had no other perceptable seasoning. The beef cheeks were good, but not great and needed more acid or some other sauce (again a bit dry.) for $30 / entree and the cost of everything else in this restaurant I expect more (better food and better service.)"

  • "My date and I chose Aziza to celebrate my birthday. We ordered the Tasting menu, which took us hours to complete. This was mainly because we took time to savor and marvel at every single course. The dessert alone was two courses, plus a tray of bite sized delights. My date also enjoyed the wine pairings, while I had a tisane of Moroccan mint tea. The only thing traditionally Moroccan were the inlaid table tops. However, the nouvelle cuisine was of a very high level. I highly recommend Aziza."

Our server is a "regular" with us just as we are "regulars" with him and it's a real joy to sit down and have someone bring us what we like to drink without being asked.   • "Had an anniversary dinner at this"new" Moroccan place... It was like dining in the famous bar scene of Star Wars. Not because the clientele was odd... But the food combinations! I am no novice when it comes to gourmet dining... But this menu was unrecognizable. Strange combinations of ingredients... Tiny tiny portions and high high prices just to make you feel you are getting something special. Not! We ordered 5 dishes to share and left hungry. Not a chance of going off one's diet here. We will not be back. "

  • "This was my second time at Aziza and I was aprhensive about going back because while the food was great,our server was a bit pretentious. Second time around we had the same one. Service can always break or make a meal and in these two cases it really put a damper on our meal. The waiter was very proud of the food and drinks the restaraunt offers to the point where he judges and criticizes what people order, especially if you don't want something off of the drink list. It is not like this is the only place in San Francisco with a great mixologist and drink list. Otherwise Aziza has amazing food and decor! The portions are perfect for anyone who wants to try a few appetizers and have an entree as well. "

I love the taste of the food, I love the presentation, the ambiance and the service but I think it is a tad ridiculous that I need to order 3+ appetizers and a main course to feel satisfied after eating here."

  • "We hadn't been to Aziza in years. The food and presentation seemed much more refined/high-end than we remembered. We enjoyed the lentil soup for appetizer, the John Dory fish and a ginger, cardoman sponge cake for dessert. While the food is delicious, unique and beautifully presented, the portions are fairly small for the price and we would have expected the fish to have some starch side, e.g. cous cous, rice, etc. The service was very elegant (they pour the broths over the plates) and they still have the water with cucumber that we love."

  • "The spreads are exceptional, light and flavorful, combined with the warm flatbread creates a treat. My companions had the lamb shank which they enjoyed and I had the John Dory, ample portions and well executed presentations. Dessert was divine, strawberry mousse with caraway ice cream intermingled with the ground walnut shaped in small cubes was wonderful. The flavors married beautifully together along with the contrasting textures. Only criticism is the service, there appeared to be a shortage of busters for the tables. There was one person who kept us continually watered but knew nothing about the food. Hmmm.....otherwise our server was knowlegable and gracious."
