The combination of spices and the creativity of the chefs is unmatched. You don't need large portions to feel more than satisfied at the end of your meal. It's also refreshing to be able to have a nice conversation without yelling. "

It was awesome. Since then, we celebrate our anniversary here. Its has a great atmosphere with three decorated rooms - great touches everywhere. It can be very romantic. The food is always good and rotates so we are always in for a great surprise."

  • "Had been meaning to go to this restaurant for years and finally did for my dad's sixtieth. Same California cuisine behind it all, but completely unique among sf restaurants. Definitely worth getting a cocktail to start -- I got a vegetal drink. Food was delicious. My favorites were the chicken wings and the lamb. Portions are deceivingly large and I had trouble finishing. Next time I will get the tasting menu so that I can try more dishes. And because there are too many good options."

  • "been to Aziza before and really liked it, but that was about 3 years ago. Went this past weekend and it needs some work - bathroom door paint peeling and scratched, floor needs some repainting too. Food was tasty but I wasn't blown away. Service was a bit awkward - kept getting water filled even though I had only taken a sip - a few times the servers dropped our food at a neighboring table. in the end nothing was bad but nothing was really amazing, which is the reason you keep going back to great restaurants."

  • "Having traveled to Morocco on several occasions and eaten in some of the finest places, I can safely conclude that this restaurant has little to do with Moroccan food. The selection of pastes on the appetizer menu was the best thing although the portions were ridiculously small. The fish main courses were tiny...appetizer size and bland. The emphasis in this place was on creating a pretty dish and presentation. What about the food? Tiny, flavorless, overpriced, pretentious dishes should not earn a Zagat rating, let alone a Michelin star. This place would not survive in most other cities."

  • "I came here for the first time and had the tasting menu with friends and a couple drinks. The tasting menu was beyond amazing. Everything was beautifully plated and the flavors were so good! All the cocktails were also tasty. They aren't too strong and I think any drink would have great flavor whether you like that specific alcohol or not. I would definitely recommend the tasting menu and would love to come back and eat again!"

  • "We have eaten at Aziza over many years. It is one of the few restaurants that we return repeatedly. It is NOT your traditional Moroccan restaurant. It is always inventive. The wine menu and recommendations are always spot on. Our only complaint is that the portions seem to get smaller and smaller. You better order several appetizers or you will go away hungry. With the price range for the mains in the $20-30 it is pricey."

  • "The food and service were both fantastic. The food took a little bit of time, about 45 minutes to get to us, but as a result, it was free! Our server was very nice and apologetic about the wait, which did not feel as long as it was at all. We also got a free apetizer while we were waiting. He was also very knowledgeable about what we were eating. He would describe everything on the plate and when we got confused he reiterated it very well. The dessert was my favorite part, my having a sweet tooth and all, but also because it was phenomenal. I have never had flavors that a really good by themselves but magical when you combine them on the spoon."

  • "Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. My boyfriend and I dined here to extend the celebration of my birthday. As a practice, we celebrate birthdays for a week. It was my first visit, therefore, I relied on online comments that Aziza's ambience offers a romantic atmosphere and that the food's excellent. The food was good but portions were small for the price expensed. I'd like to compare this restaurant to 5-star restaurants that we usually patronize. The latter offer gourmet dishes prepared by great and among them, best chefs in the Bay Area. The difference is that the portions, from other renowned restaurants, are decent and quality exceeds expectation. Price expensed has never been an issue at these restaurants. We leave satisfied."

  • "The food and specialty cocktails here are remarkable. Our group enjoyed both specialty concoctions and traditional drinks. We thoroughly enjoyed the various dips with pita breadand ordered extra pita bread because it was so good! We shared several other wonderful appetizers including chicken wings" - very tasty and deboned! The lamb shank, divers scallops, cod and steak entrees were also terrific. The interior is romantic - enough space between tables that you won't hear other conversations. Our server was very knowledgeable and helped guide us when we had questions. All in all, a lovely evening, and for the quality of the food, the prices are pretty reasonable. I may be tempted to go back for a leisurely dinner and try the tasting menu."

  • "We had a great night out with friends here. The food was outstanding. We were also very impressed with the cocktails, especially the wild arugula and turmeric root with reposado. My husband's lamb shank fell off the bone, my black cod was fragrant and tender, and our vegetarian friend raved over her couscous. The appetizer portions are a bit small and could do with more flatbread. The timing was a bit off too, as there was a significant gap between our appetizers and entrees of more than 30 minutes. Loved the decor and atmosphere, will be back!"

We first heard about the restaurant because of the Michelin star rating, but have been going back regularly because of the consistently amazing food. The menu seems to change with the seasons. But classic dishes like the "schmears" and the couscous get better and better every year. Although I'm not usually one for mixed drinks, the creative bar menu has never disappointed. Just an all-around great restaurant with amazing flavors that are impossible to find anywhere else."

Service was less than good--we had a waitress who seemed to forget what it means to wait on tables (not really helpful, not particularly interested in making our stay a nice one). The music is AWFUL (was I at the SPA? New age nonsense, on a loop.). Then they turned the heat on, and the vents were over our table--and we had to complain TWICE (my friend was actually breaking out into a sweat) before they did anything about it (I actually saw our waitress roll her eyes). I live in the neighborhood of this restaurant, but I can think of many nicer places to go for a good restaurant experience. I will not be back any time soon."

  • "We were on a three day stay in SF for our wedding anniversary. We stayed in the Outer Richmond area at an AirBnB. The owner of the AirBnB recommended Aziza. Rather dark and somber interior, we got a table in the back room. The waiter was very good about explaining the food and describing the ingredients and preparation. We had nicely presented dishes to include their choice of spreads and the lamb shank. The chicken wings were exceptional. The wine was good. For anyone wanting to try an alternative cuisine with interesting and pleasing flavors, this is the spot."

  • "A San Francisco dining experience not to be missed! Expansive flavor set & great, thorough service. As you arrive you certainly get the feeling you are walking through a Spice Market in Marrakesh. Colors of the walls, details of the fixtures, and unique prints throughout the restaurant resonate the Moroccan vibe. The cocktail menu in itself is something to rave about. A range of liquors combined with what you would initially think is not typically a great pairing. Overall the food was delicious and had a diversity in flavor, even for an ordinary dish like the chicken wings. Basteeya is not to be missed. Would I take a 7th date here... Yes Would I recommend this to Thomas Keller... Yes"

  • "The food here was fantastic and the bar program exceptional. Really unique cocktail flavors. Food was delicious. Ambiance was off. The seating is not well designed - LARGE tables for two and then they seat the 2nd person to the side vs. across from one another. Awkward as my date then had his back to the exit door and is staring at the table next to me the whole time. However, if they had put him across from me, I do feel it would have been far away. They should do smaller tables designed for two tops."
