AzizaPerfect 30th anniversary dinnerAs everyone knows dining choices in the bay area and especially in San Francisco are numerous. Given so many choices, Aziza was our first choice.
Another couple, with whom we have traveled many places throughout the world, joined us. We started with amazing cocktails followed by even more amazing small plates and even more amazing large plates and a dessert plate that acknowledged our 30th wedding anniversary with dark chocolate as ink.
For sure we will celebrate other anniversaries and special occasions there in the future.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWowPhenomenal. Everything was perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. Dessert was amazing as well!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautifully presented and deliciousOut of the way, but worth the trip. We had the tasting menu at $95/each with multiple courses which were elegantly plated and delectable. The cocktails were especially wonderful - really interesting flavors. We didn't really see a that much (or any) Moroccan influence except for one lamb dish and the decor - but still the food was good!
And a plus/minus - the staff was very friendly and there were so many of them! Slow night or really obsessive service? At one point we had 3 staff members at our table of 2 - pouring water, removing plates, putting down new course - a bit overwhelming.
All in all, a great restaurant and highly recommended.
But what's with the bag of granola to take home? Is granola Moroccan? Odd.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMModern Moroccan- fusionInteresting and thoughtful food. Enjoyed the flavors, but portions were a bit small for the appetizers, a little better for the entrees. Modern Morrocan, though one of the dishes seemed Asian.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat happened to the Moroccan?Aziza has been one of our favorite SF restaurants for many years. We just returned from Morocco and were excited to, once again, experience "New Moroccan" versions of the dishes we had there. Our dishes at Aziza were indeed excellent but unfortunately we saw no vestiges of the Moroccan cuisine we were expecting.
The waitstaff service was efficient and attentive but there was a considerable wait in between courses. We can only guess that the delay initiated in the kitchen.
The offerings on each plate were so minimal, our son left the meal still feeling hungry (even after 3 apps, 4 entrees and 2 desserts/4 people).
This was a wonderful and special dinner but I miss the dishes/experience that made Aziza famous. :(5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary surpriseI took my wife here for our wedding anniversary and we had an amazing experience. The tasting menu was unreal, the cocktails are strong and tasty, and the service was outstanding. We spent several hours enjoying our meal and drinks. Love this place, can't wait to go back.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMa very cool experienceMy husband and I did the tasting menu and had a variety of delicious cocktails. The tasting menu was very creative and paired items together you wouldn't normally think of. For the most part, every dish was very good and beautifully presented. Out of about 9 savory courses there were only 3 we didn't care for. The desserts were especially incredible, the first had passionfruit and coconut and the second one had coffee and chocolate and a sweetened sesame crisp on top. The cocktails take some time coming out to you when they are busy but they are so flavorful and delicious and like no other you've tasted. I will definitely come back and try the a la carte menu.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWell worth revisiting!I've been to Aziza many times but this was the best meal I've had yet. I had an asparagus appetizer with a puree of fresh favas and what looked like gnocchi but were actually artichoke heart pureed into gnocchi shapes. The Basteeya is the specialty at Aziza and is perfect for sharing between two or three people. My main course was a lamb shank over an amazing farro with complex flavors and spices. The dessert was like nothing I've ever seen, a crispy rhubarb in tiny little bits with bits of fennel meringue. It was beautifully presented, very light and a perfect ending to the meal. Service was very helpful and attentive but left us to chat and didn't interrupt. Aziza is definitely improving on their prior success.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMnice tasting menu butI thought the tasting menu would have had a greater use of moroccan flavors5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMsuperior in everythingAziza is one of our City's gems, and a relatively unrecognized one. The flavor pairings in each dish are creative and special, and enable the tasting of each element of the dish. it does not suffer from the semi-sameness of some of our other excellent restaurants. The service is both elegant and relaxed, and perfectly attentive. What a place.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experience!Aziza was amazing. The food was fantastic, the service impeccable and the ambience, perfect. I would say the restaraunt is best for a romantic night out, or the celebration of a special occasion. The cocktails were amazing!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest SF dinner I've hadOMG, Aziza was the most remarkable dining experience I had in SF, starting with their garlic soup. I was celebrating my daughter's USF graduation, visiting from Hawaii, and dined at multiple high end restaurants, but Aziza was definitely the best quality in food and service. Highly recommend it; don't leave SF without dining at Aziza. It is worth every dollar!!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Dining Experience EverThis place is my all time favorite. The chef is a genius and artist blended into one! Everything about this restaurant is fantastic. You will not just be eating a meal here, you will go home knowing that you just experienced something amazing!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMModern Moroco & fantastic coktailsWarm reception and great counsel from the tender! The coktails are just delicious, don't miss a try. Food was tasty, the duck pastilla was near to perfection and the "couscous" a delicate fusion of spices.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMReally nice little restaurant.Really nice little restaurant. Friendly staff and the place has a nice vibe. The duck confit wrapped in filo dough is crazy good! The entrees we ordered didn't have a lot of Moroccan flavors, but they were really well prepared (duck with smoked potatoes; lamb loin). A lot of interesting things on the menu that definitely will bring me back.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful place to celebrate.I took work friends to Aziza for one of ladies' birthday celebration and we had good time with delicious food and very friendly services in a beautifully decorated dining room. I truly enjoy amezing food there.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMa dinner experinecewe went for the first time based upon the reputation the chef-owner.
Morracan food, but at a whole different level.
We can only desribe the food and seasoning as sublime.
The more tradtional the dish - thuogh - the less interesting.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat restaurant, excellentgreat restaurant, excellent food, exceptional food service. valet is reasonable at $10, however, having to get your own car after eating, rather than valet bring your car to you seems a little different than typical.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was beyond the beyond. The food was beyond the beyond. Everything we ordered was excellent but the service was so so. We ordered drinks and our appetizers came out well before our drinks were delivered to the table. Same with dinner. Wine came halfway through the meal:( Otherwise the wait person was gracious and the food was excellent.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique and inventive, exoticUnique and inventive, exotic cocktails, and wonderful offerings.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMTasting Menu is FabulousWe had the tasting menu and it was wonderful! We were delighted to find such fine food and a fresh interpretation of a classic cuisine.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed our meal!We were tourists in San Francisco; Aziza had been recommended. We found the menu unusual and had to ask about items and preparations, but we were very pleased with our choices. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable; the food excellent.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food By an amazing chefI expected the food at Aziza's to be great, instead, the dishes from chef Lahlou were perfect. The combination of ingredients and flavors just fit together so perfectly in every dish. The desert was amazing and the entire experience was all around enjoyable and one for the books. I would go back in a heart beat. Too bad I live in the east coast4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food- very uniqueExcellent food- very unique and great drinks-Very fun and funky- definately recommend4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMUnusual New MorrocanVery unusual menu, even for an experienced Morrocan eater. The cocktail menu, alone, was worth the trip. The appetizers and entrees were terrific. Will definitely return next time in SF. A fairly long taxi ride from downtown.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAziza at Its BestOur dinner was a birthday celebration with four diners who had muddled drinks and every item on the Taster's Menu. Aziza added three additional treats before acknowledging the b/d girl with a specially prepared dessert. From beginning to ending the pacing between food items was perfect, the ambience allowed conversation without raised voices, and the food presentation was among the very best to be found anywhere. The dining event was a bit pricey, but the flavors and the knowledgeable staff compel our return visit soon.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMNo betterOn our list of top 5 SF restaurants. From the cocktails to the deserts, everything is complex and well balanced.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAzizaA great place to go to when you want that romantic atmosphere. The lights are dimmed and the noise level is usually low. Although on the pricey side, the food is very good. Easy to rack up at least $50. Additional seating in the back, which is usually more quiet, great for those intimate convos.
Service is friendly and prompt no matter how busy it is. Very knowledgeable about the menu. Duck basteeya confit is amazing. Takes awhile though.
Recommended to call in or reserve online. Parking is metered so bring change!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMust-visit restaurant in sanMust-visit restaurant in san francisco. Having visited Morocco admit Asiza's menu and its recipes did not reflect our experience there. But that's okay since the experience of eating at Aziza is unique.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExquisite food and dramaticExquisite food and dramatic presentation. Overall a fantastic experience-Go as fast as you can!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBest meal ever!We had the tasting menu as there were 8 of us, and the chef did not disappoint. You could tell that each dish was lovingly prepared, delicious as well as pleasing to the eye. I especially love one of the desserts that looked like a wreath on the plate. The portions were just perfect as well, we got to taste 9 different things, but we did not feel "stuffed" at the end of it. The wait staff explained what was in each dish as it was served, and they were very attentive. Our evening started with a very friendly greeting from the young lady at the door, and it set the tone for the whole evening. One of my friends commented that it was the best meal she ever remembers having, and I have to second that!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was awesome. WonderfulThe food was awesome.
