Diner Reviews
  • "Went here with 6 friends for my birthday and was very fun. Cool drinks and they bring sparkelers for your birthday. However the portion sizes of the meals were small."

  • "Only negative is the seating is very close together."

  • "Dinner was great! The wine and chocolate was the heart of the recommendation from our friend. We chose the spot to celebrate a birthday for a friend. The wine, cheese plate and sangria were a perfect start. Three of us loved the Sea bass and our fourth thoroughly enjoyed the filet minon medallions. Portions were perfect! The fondue and the lava cake were shared by all four, which was just right. The service was wonderful. I appreciated the sparkler and song for the birthday. I will definitely return and will recommend the restaurant to friends for small parties, as it is a clever use of a small space."

  • "We had apps and drinks - the service was right on, the food was delicious and the drinks were awesome. My friend had never been before and I recommended the angry lolipops, which did not fail to impress her. Had two of the chocoate martinis and she had a french kiss- which also were wonderful. Can't go wrong here."

  • "Great menu with some interesting wine selections. The place was very busy but small enough that it wasn't very noisy. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as savored some great small plates and very generous salads. We finished with wine and chocolate pairings which were amazing. Great place to met with friends or before the theater."

  • "Booked reservations at AYZA for a date night. We were seated right away, the hostess and our waitress were absolutely awesome and the food was delicious. (Definitely try the Truffle Oil Pizza!) The real highlight was of course the drinks. The chocolate martinis were like heaven in a glass. As was the Honey Fizz. I already recommended AYZA to everyone of my friends and we will of course be back very soon to try the 20 layer creme brulee cake! <3"

  • "Great venue, especially considering the area. The venue is a little small, however that's not something they could control, area immediately outside of AYZA is unfortunately is run down, smells bad, looks bad, AYZA's probably the best thing in that area."

  • "Ayza is one of my favorite places in New York. This trip I brought my daughter and three of her friends. It was their first time experiencing the chocolate Martinis. As always, the foods was delicious and the service was great. The service is not fast or rushed - just a nice, relaxed pace."

  • "Everything was absolutely delicious! We had the Octopus Carpaccio and Grilled Shrimp with Mango and I highly recommend them both. The salads were also quite fantastic and the flourless chocolate cake was lovely. So nice to be able to have dessert in a restaurant, which is unusual for those of us that are gluten intolerant."

  • "The best food I have ever had in US :) Really nice staff and the service was outstanding!"

  • "Went here to meet someone for the first time. Where I like children, I don't think a wine bar is the right place. The tables are high and you sit on stools so the kids were kicking the booth seat (a high booth seat) .. Parents were nice enough and kept apologizing but it effected the evening. Wine was good , food was good . There are two locations so be sure to make sure you are all on the same page for the address. We both wound up at different locations."

  • "We have been going her for a number of years, but something just did not feel right. The service was good, just not as good has it has been. I just wish that I could put my finger on what was off there this one night, but my try the village location next time. They knew we were there for a birthday dinner, and they treated it just like any other day. Disappointed to say the least."

  • "Each sandwich is pre made in the morning. If you are health or weight conscious, this place is not for you. Sandwiches are made with cheese & mayo & you can not get it with out if requested with really leaves you with no options for lunch. Great price fixed lunch $10.95 but if you can't not get it plain, what is the point. Also the drinks are as expensive as the lunch deal. "

  • " This is my third time ayza. I always bring my friends from out of town for great food and drinks. I have never been disappointed. I love the white truffle pizza and chocolate Manhattan's."

  • "Friend and I ended up having drinks and dessert at the bar after waiting 20+ minutes for a table (note - we arrived 30 minutes early). Space is very tight and on very active commercial street, so would not go there on a date night. Good for a pit stop with four or fewer friends."

  • "This was second time there. The service is attentive and our waitress was very knowledgable. My daughter and I shared appetizers and a salad then had our own entrees. Followed by chocolate! The food is fresh and the variety is good. Wine list is not extensive but it is well selected. I highly recommend this place!"

  • "My wife and I got 2 flights. The bartender never asked what kind we like (dry, sweet, full bodied, etc.). She poured a glass and we asked if it was on the dryer, full bodied side and she was a little irritated....she should of asked us in the first place. She never told us what kind of wine we were drinking until we asked and she gave my wife and I the exact same wines. We've been to many wine bars and it's fun trying new ones. I would expect a little more introduction to what we're drinking and a little more variety. The wine selection itself didn't seem very lengthy for a wine bar. The chocolates were good, nothing special. There's many more in the city where it's an experience rather than just a place to grab a drink."

  • "My second time here. Took my guy out and he loved the food. He tried the more refined palate dishes and it was a good for a change. My meal was delicious, grilled shrimp, angry chicken lollipops and chocolate martini of course. Waitresses were attentive and a good time was had by all."

  • "Perfect for quiet conversation over lunch, or for meeting friends after work. Food is tasty, we usually order a bunch of appetizers and share them. They also have a soup/salad + sandwich special at lunch time that is just the right amount of food. Quiet, outdoor space near Herald Square and the Empire State Building"

  • "I loved taking my mother here for Mother's Day surprise. The chocolate Martinis were fantastic and the duck liver pâté was scrumptious. You must try the creme brûlée crêpe cake it was amazing. Only downside is the location is very crampt but it's still a good time. Definitely going to be checking out the West Village location soon."

  • "Awesome find, appetizers were delicious & sized just right to split with the 4 of us to try everything. Did the same with the entree items, the beef medallions we're cook beautifully cooked.... And would definitely go again."

  • "It's hard to find something decent in midtown, but this is a decent option. There is good wine, decent food and a hip atmosphere."

  • "Even though we had called ahead to determine whether it would be safe to eat at this restaurant when one member of our party had a peanut allergy, when we arrived it seemed nobody knew about the allergy issue. There were peanuts out in the bar area and it became very uncomfortable as the manager tried to be helpful but ultimately bought us a round of drinks (served to our allergic friend in a paper cup) and said the chef refused to serve us any food. While we appreciated the manager's effort, it was still incredibly disappointing and a waste of time and money on our part (spent commuting). The waitress was also very well-mannered, and had it not cost $20 just to get to Ayza- in the pouring rain- we would have left her a tip. "

  • "My wife & I were celebrating our 15 year anniversary thus my expectations were quite high for the evening. Booked the table through Open Tabe & put a note about the anniversary and also mentioned it when we checked in. It took long to get seated & at the worst table in the place. Other parties that arrived later than us for the same reservation slot got better tables. We got moved after I complained and the initial manager was quite accomodaing and nice but another manager came by and tried to give us grief about them having limited space. The host staff was not very friendly in general but the wait staff was excellent & the food was very good as well. Service rating would be higher if host staff & the one manager had been better."

  • "I took my wife here because she loves chocolate and martinis. The food was great, the drinks amazing, I am hooked. My wife had a chocolate raspberry martini which had shaved dark chocolate on the top. I had a chocolate martini that was out of this world, now I am trying to get the bourbon they used to do this at home! The pulled pork panini was to die for! The 20 layer crepe cake was a great ending to a great meal. We will definitely come back here again when we are in the city. We had an appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, and 2 drinks and the bill was around $100, not bad for Manhattan. The open faced tantinis are small so stick with a panini or other entree."

  • "The food was very tasty; however, the location is a bit small. I Dunkin Donuts on the corner of the block was a little bigger as far as indoor dining area. Romantic place to eat during summer, outside seating is key."

  • "Went here for date night and it was great! it is very cramped inside and outside however. I felt like I was talking to the table next to us."

  • "My girl was attracted to the couples night out with chocolate coverd strawberrys. We were surprised with the great food and awsome service. We left full but not heavy. It was a very romantic experience and I will definetly be going back because I loved the cost lol."

  • "We had a great time with the Girls Night Out promotion at Ayza. The white truffle pizza was delicious, and the chocolate martinis are definitely worth trying! The service was decent, although they forgot about one of our dishes until we had to ask for it. Overall, it was a good place for a casual birthday celebration with good food and outdoor seating in moderate weather."

  • "After eyeing this spot for a while I finally came with 2 friends and thought we were in for a night of wine tasting. But in fact there is a full bar and most of the ayza specialty or recommended drinks are non-wine, which was surprising for a wine bar. Overall the food was very tasty, portions were good, and ambiance was cozy. Unfortunately the outdoor seating was "unavailable" which was odd...no waiting list and no way to rsvp for an outdoor table via opentable. It definitely got a little louder inside the very small indoor space as the night went on, and you end up chatting with the tables next to you (still ok). I would definitely come back with a small group for another girls night or a date. "
