Diner Reviews
  • "My husband and I did the Couples night package it was very romantic, but would recommend to go to AYZA with no package so you can take advantage of happy hour with buffet. Drinks were great but a bit pricey."

  • "Quaint West Village wine bar with a good menu and interesting wine/chocolate selection. Good place for groups to go and nosh on some small plates and enjoy a wine flight. Disappointed with the service, however, and was rushed out the door before we had even received all of our food. The waitress was pushing the check on us and clearing plates before we completed the meal. It was not even that late either. ...10 p.m. at a wine bar should not be that big of a deal. We were going to finish in 10 minutes anyway and the extra angst was an unnecessary end to the meal."

  • "Lovely place, with delicious food, rich wine list, perfect chocolate martini... Staff very friendly. Definitely will be back again!"

  • "My wife and I had a 10:00 reservation here last weekend. We were pleasantly surprised with Ayza. It is a cool place though a bit crowded. They sat us quickly ut we had time to get a drink at the bar - great cocktail selection and very friendly staff! The food was amazing. Seriously, everything we tried we really liked. My favorite were the Angry Chicken Lollipops- they tasted great with just enough heat ut not overly spicy. My wife loved the belgian goat cheese which was also awesome! Our waitress was very nice and attentive. we did not have to look for her at all. We ended with a Raspberry Chocolate martini and a strawberry chocolate one. Both were awesome! I highly recommend going here with a date. You'll thank me!"

  • "Awesome little spot in the west village. Perfect for a little date night to indulge in some delicious chocolates and superb wine. Nice and quiet scene with excellent ambience. Great spot for a solid quick meal or tasty desserts."

  • "My friend and I went there for a catch-up date since we hadn't hung out in so long. It was very cute, but definitely had the vibe that it was meant for couples even though the crowd didn't represent that. The only issue I had was the bus boy or whatever his role is, was overly friendly in that he wouldn't leave my friend and I alone. It felt like he was trying to pick us up. We even kept our interaction with him as short as possible and he didn't get the hint that we didn't want to talk to him. I feel like I spent more time trying to ignore him than my friend and I actually having time to just hang out."

  • "The food was fine but the service was poor. The hostess was also the server for all tables. We were also early by about 20 minutes early and they had NOOO idea how to handle this. The hostess/server had to confer with another server, who had to confer with the bartender, who had to confer with the manager. At that point we felt so uncomfortable like we stole something that we went down the street to grab a drink. We should have stayed at the new place. When we came back and their response was.. you're back? To top it off we used a gift certificate and all heck broke loose! very frustrating!"

  • "The drinks and desserts were great especially the chocolate pizza. However the entrees were horrible. The portions were small and not worth the price. This place is clearly a wine and dessert spot."

  • "The restaurant has a small space for dining and overbooked the night we visited. We ended up waiting :40 later than our reservation time. The manager was apologetic and gave us a drink on him - which definitely was a nice gesture. Our overall experience was good and cannot wait to go back when their outdoor space is open for the season."

  • "The restaurant was awesome, great foods to pick on and a excellent drink menu. The staff was very attentive and the ambience was fantastic. The cons are the hostess who had an insane puss face when we walked in and also the music which didn't go well with the restaurant theme, I actually found it kind of awkward lol. That and the fact the tables were so close together you were listening to everyone's conversations around you. But hey it's a Friday night in NYC so what do you expect? Overall this place was awesome and I'd definitely recommend it to not only couples, but friends hanging out in I chilled out setting."

  • "My friend and I came in for girls night out. We got drinks and food and our free chocolate shot and chocolate covered strawberry through our reservation from open table. It was great! Well worth the money we spent and their chocolate martinis are amazing!"

  • "This was a great little bar. It was a very vibrant atmosphere...great food and good wine; we had the chocolate wine which was nice and a port wine (good but not fabulous for those who enjoy a truly aged port). If you are looking for quiet, romantic, etc...this isn't the spot for you. If you are looking for fun, energetic and good food to boot, then check it out!"

  • "Cozy atmosphere, nice location. The drinks are on the pricey side but it's nice to go for a round or two. The mint chocolate martini was worth it. Would go back on another ladies night."

  • "Overall good experience but was very disappointed that our seats were the last ones down a narrow aisle to rest rooms.... People lined up by our table to use them! It was VERY tight and every time the rest room door opened we were overwhelmed by the odor/air freshner!"

  • "Outstanding! Reservations are a must! So glad I made that decision early on. Met my friend for a "dessert/cheese date" and we were not disappointed! Started off with the red wine sampler, shared the five piece cheese tray, pizza & chicken lollipops. Finished off with chocolate molten cake, chocolate martini and a truffle. Absolutely outstanding - our drinks were half the bill, but it was well worth it. Great find, will definitely be back!!"

  • "It was my bestfriends 21st Bday. We made a reservation for Girls Night on Open table which included the free shot and strawberries. We each had a martini the raspberry chocolate martini was my favorite. I had the chicken panni which was great!!!My friend has the pizza. The strawberries were huge and a great dessert to end the night. The decor itself is very cozy romantic feeling. Great place for date night. Be warned it is a small place."

  • "I had dinner and drinks with one of my girl friends and we did the reservation for "Girls Night Out"...it was fun and we enjoyed ourselves however we did not get the "Girls Night Out" chocolate shot and chocolate dipped strawberry as it states on their Tuesday night special. I was testing out the place for my upcoming birthday which lands on a Tuesday and was pleased for the most part. Our initial table was located next to the bathroom but they were happy to reseat us without hassle. I will go back but I guess I have to ask for the complimentary treat next time? Kind of awkward as you shouldn't have to ask since we made the reservation as directed."

  • "Great atmosphere! Loved the sidewalk cafe effect! Great idea with the complimentary chocolate! I would recommend this restaurant to a friend, couples and dark chocolate lovers."

  • "I think Couple's Night Out is one of the greatest ideas they ever had. I took my girlfriend here and she absolutely loved the chocolate wine and complimentary chocolate truffles that came with them. I came during Valentine's Day weekend and their prie fixe menu was just hit the spot. The Hummus Dip was spectacular, Sea Bass was cooked to perfection and a chocolate lava cake that topped everything off was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend coming here for a romantic night out."

  • "All around accommodating and excellent service from the hostess, to bartender, to waiter/waitress. The entire staff pays attention to details and are attentive to the guest. Great reflection on the management. I was able to enjoy a beautiful Valentine's dinner, on couples night. I almost do not want to recommend this place because I want to keep it to myself."

  • "This restaurant offered ambience, romance, and outstanding food all within the same location. The wine list was extensive and the creative chocolate martini's are amazing! Presentation was artistic, creative, as well as appealing, and the food was outstanding!"

  • "Came here after work with a coworker and got seated at 6pm and did not get our food until 7:15pm. The waitress did not even realize that we had not gotten our food. We had to approach her. She placed our dessert order and that came quickly and we had to send it back because we had not recieved our entrees. When I approached the waitress regarding the timing of our order she did not come back to explain to us what happened. She was very unattentive and honestly giving her a tip was debatable. Luckily one of the managers was going around asking how everyone's meal was and I was able to tell him the issues. He went back and checked and stated that the receipt for our dinner was lost. I understand mistakes happen but its a waiters job to notice"

  • "Cute and cozy wine bar, great for a date or to meet up and catch up with a friend. Good happy hour and chocolate martinis. Nice wine list. Server was rude when asked questions about the menu and drinks."

  • "The sample of warm mulled wine was a nice treat when you sit down at your table. The cheese and meat platter was very good and the wine and chocolate martini were also good. Saturday night was crowded and energetic with various parties, bridal showers etc....but it was still a nice night! If you want a quieter experience try it on a weekday."

  • "Cramped. Even with a reservation, 3 of us were sat for dinner at a table for two - after being moved 3 times. My chair was constantly bumped and my friend was elbowed in the face by an employee who didn't notice. This was a very disappointing visit after having had a good once before. Even the food was mediocre."

  • "The scene is romantic. We enjoyed the Panini's and the drinks were phenomenal. However, the staff made unforgiveable mistakes. First, our table was not set up as the promotion promised. I had to walk over to the hostess and remind her my reservation was part of the Couples Night special. She apologized, but how could you be so mindless when you walk a couple over to an area of the restaurant where others are seated with candles and rose petals on their tables? We ordered 2 drinks, but only received one. I had to ask the waitress for the second drink. And when I received the bill, we were charged for the chocolates. Again, I had to point out the error. Despite these blunders, I recommend this place for first dates and rekindling romance."

  • "1. Make a reservation 2. Ladies: come with a small bag/clutch because this place is tiny and densely packed. 3. Don't come for the food, stay for the awesome wine list and ice cold beer. Seriously skip the food. 4. Don't expect to hear your date or whoever is accompanying you, it's very loud on weekends. 5. Expect great service and a knowledgable staff. 6. Don't dress up, even the staff wore plaid. 7. Skip the angry chicken lollipops and white truffle pizza, I truly wish I had. 8. Awesome cheese platter! The herbed goat cheese is delicious!"

  • "Great place with good wine and yummy food! The goat cheese salad was delish! I any wait to go back! This place is very small so make a reservation! Not a good idea for a large group."

  • "I was taking my boyfriend on a date when I decided that we should come here first before heading to a show. We were going for either a cheese plate or dessert and a few drinks. We opted for the cheese plate and it was delicious. It was a beautiful presentation and we enjoyed it immensely. I was hoping to get to try two different drinks, but it took our waitress 20 minutes to take our order for the first round of drinks and by the time she brought our drinks, I knew I was going to be able to have a second round. I used to wait tables for 5 years so I know when it's the kitchen's fault or the hostess who will over seat you, but it wasn't busy at all. We were disappointed by the service, but enjoyed the drinks and cheese plate."

  • "I went out with my husband a good friend for some conversation and dessert and this place did not disappoint. We didn't feel rushed or forced to over-order to hold onto our table, though we still ordered a lot because the menu is so full of fun treats! We really enjoyed everything and our server was very helpful, patient, and able to make great recommendations."
