Diner Reviews
  • "First two things to know about this place: 1)You have a choice of sitting inside on barstools, or outside at regular tables. I opted for outside: 2nd hand smoke and mosquitos vs. 2 hours of dangling legs. 2) There is one bathroom for the entire place. One. For about 50 patrons. Maybe that’s up to code, maybe it isn’t, but it’s not enough. The food was good, not great. The fondue was lukewarm. The best things on the menu were the duck liver pate and the truffle oil pita. Even the chocolate covered strawberries tasted like they’d been covered yesterday, frozen, and served (mostly) thawed. The drinks were better. My guests enjoyed their chocolate martinis. My Cucumber gin drink was a mess, but was pleasant tasting. Not worth a second trip."

  • "Had been to midtown loc & enjoyed. Here, everything we ordered had pita & unnecessary diced tomatoes on top- warm goat cheese, hot artichoke hearts (which were NOT artichoke hearts- it was a dip), tzatziki & truffle pizza. Pizza had a pita crust & overly excessive cheese. Waitress only came to our table to take our order & get us 2nd round of drinks. Tried to take my 1st before I had finished. Never came back to ask how food was. We flagged down a bus boy to get us some cucumbers for all the dips, waited 20 mins before I walked inside & asked the waitress to forget cucumbers & give us our bill. Overall this was hours-long. We were disappointed to leave w/o trying our planned truffles & choc martinis. Awful & will not return."

  • "It's quite a quaint little spot. It was great for a first date. The food wasn't heavy and they had a pretty good array of wines."

  • "I've wanted to eat here for a very years but could never find the time. So when I saw a Groupon for here I purchased it right away. The food was filling but light. The outside seating is very nice on a good day. My server Marsha was very nice and helpful. I will be going back sans Groupon"

  • "Went here on a Saturday for an early dinner before a show nearby. The food was very good, and we had a very nice time. The cheese plate, shrimp dumplings, and wines/martinis were excellent, but the "white truffle pizza" probably could have been better. I would definitely come back."

  • "Sat outside. Didn't get to see the inside. Table was very wobbly. Table (for two) was small and cramped. Not sure why were seated there when the hostess knew their was a problem with the table. We had to ask for a new table so our drinks and food would not fall off in the middle of our meal. Overall, food was tasty and had drinks off the happy hour menu which were good."

  • "Ayza in west village is a great restaurant! The food and drinks are amazing. Portions seem like they will be small but they fill you up! Also, their Sangria and chocolate martinis are the best I've ever had. I would definately recommend this location to my friends."

  • "Ayza has a great selection of wines. Their chocolate selection is not what I hoped for from a wine and chocolate bar though. My friend and I went around happy hour and the restaurant wasn't crowded which was nice. The waiters were friendly and attentive. The food portions were very tiny but overall Ayza was a good dining experience."

  • "Ayza is one of my all time go to places! Its a great place for getting dinner with friends. They have great lunch and happy hour specials. The food and staff are great! Love it here!"

  • "If you're looking to get away from your crazy busy NYC lifestyle, this spot is the perfect getaway! Having to pair wine and chocolate together was the most amazing experience! I will definitely return with my family and perhaps even a boyfriend."

  • "The food here is always good, and the staff is attentive. I recommend the hand rolled beef and the white truffle pizza. You will not be disappointed here."

  • "The chocolate martinis are sooooo good, I can't stop thinking about them! I had both the mint chocolate and the raspberry, can't go wrong with either! I just wish they were part of the Happy Hour menu as they are a little pricey. For food, our group shared the wild mushroom pita tart (which is essentially a yummy mushroom pizza) and the white truffle pizza. Both were good, though I recommend sharing the white truffle pizza as it can get a bit heavy. We will definitely be back!!"

  • "Had reservations for my friend's bachelorette party this past weekend. The space was perfect for big groups, not crowded. Our dinner was delicious--we shared 5 tapas between 3 people, which was more than enough food. They also had great wines, and they even had flourless chocolate cake, which was perfect for someone like me (with Celiac). The only downside was that our waitress was apparently new (in training). Although it wasn't super busy, she never came over to check up on us. Each time we needed something, we would have to awkwardly wave and try to make eye contact for 4-5 minutes before she would come over. In the end it was fine--it became kind of a joke for our group. Overall, I would go back for the food, if not the service. "

  • "Our waitress wasn't informative about the free food or happy hour drinks available. Being that it was our first time there we ordered from the regular drink menu. Until we noticed her showing the people at the table next to us the happy hour drink menu. Not sure why we wasn't afforded the same attention? When we did get our drinks they were good. I should have gotten some wine. In the end the chef. I think he said he was the one who prepared the food (a handsome Greek gentleman) seem to be really friendly and funny. He came around more than our waitress who was the opposite of him. Anyhoo the at least the fondue was tasty. "

  • "We were a party of three, and I can honestly say that each of us really enjoyed the service, food and drinks. They have happy hour Mon thru Fri from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Not only the drinks are on special, but also they have a nice little buffet for free! We arrived at around their happy hour (5:00 p.m.) and did not leave until close to midnight. Yes, it was that good. The selection of cocktails are really great! You can go wrong if you order the chocolate martini. It is to die for. We tried other cocktails: French Royale, Espresso Martini, Caipirinha and many more!. I can't remember the name of our waiter, but he was really awesome. They even treated us a chocolate fondue to share. Delicious! I will definitely come back soon!"

  • "I love this place. Upon stumbling across it about a year ago, I love wine and love chocolate, so what could be better? Been here twice for special occasions. Both times were too notch with ambiance. Definitely went that little extra mile with the rose petals, candles, surprise dessert and shots. Service is usually excellent....a little spotty this last time, but still ok. Wine list is awesome especially the flights. Nice chance to try things before getting a full glass. Food is delightful, especially the truffle pizza and mushroom tart. Both favorites. Did the cheese plate this time and was pretty good. All their plates are perfect for sharing. Easy to just Order a bunch. Chocolate martinis are amazing, and come with a free truffle! "

  • "Every time I come to this location the food is always a little disappointing as its very different from the food at the midtown location even though the menu is the same. I'll order one of my favorite dishes and its not at all what I would get when I go to the midtown location. Drinks are all still delicious and the cheese plates are amazing! The food I think is an area that could be improve, if it's going to be made different than it should be a different menu."

  • "I've been to Ayza countless times and have never had an issue. This time was very different. Our waitress was simply not attentive, didn't out our food order in, didn't come to check on us, and was all around unpleasant. Maybe it was just a bad day, but I will think twice before bringing a friend with who has never been here before. "

  • "Had a truly wonderful time here Sunday night with my sister who was visiting for the weekend. We enjoyed a lovely glass of wine, with a flavorful creamy cheese and meat tray. The highlight was the Warm Belgium Goat Cheese... delicious!! For dessert we splurged on chocolate fondue with fruit & brownies. Decadent!! As if the food and fun atmosphere was not enough the wait staff definitely made the evening. Olga and Nadir were fabulous and really took care of us! I will be making a reservation for date night with my husband next week!"

  • "Quaint West Village wine bar with a good menu and interesting wine/chocolate selection. Good place for groups to go and nosh on some small plates and enjoy a wine flight. Disappointed with the service, however, and was rushed out the door before we had even received all of our food. The waitress was pushing the check on us and clearing plates before we completed the meal. It was not even that late either. ...10 p.m. at a wine bar should not be that big of a deal. We were going to finish in 10 minutes anyway and the extra angst was an unnecessary end to the meal."

  • "I took my girlfriend here for dessert and got the chocolate covered strawberries, 2 chocolate martinis, and a few chocolate pieces. The chocolate was great (if you like a high percent cocoa chocolate). The chocolate covered strawberries were great as well; the strawberries were really huge and covered in a thick layer of chocolate. The martinis however, weren't so good. The chocolate martinis were just regular martinis with shaven chocolate on top. The chocolate did not enhance the martini at all, and was completely out of place. The staff was friendly when they decided to stop eating their dinner in-front of people and stop dancing. I also found it odd that they did last call at 10:45 when they close at midnight. "

  • "I've been to Ayza a few times, and this time was definitely notable. Our waiter was so sweet and attentive and always ready at the event that we needed something. My only (minor!) complaint was that we were seated in the back at the last table before the bathroom (of which there is one), which was a tight squeeze for my 6'4" friend, and slightly awkward when folks were lining up to use the restroom. Otherwise, a pretty great experience!"

  • "My wife and I had a 10:00 reservation here last weekend. We were pleasantly surprised with Ayza. It is a cool place though a bit crowded. They sat us quickly ut we had time to get a drink at the bar - great cocktail selection and very friendly staff! The food was amazing. Seriously, everything we tried we really liked. My favorite were the Angry Chicken Lollipops- they tasted great with just enough heat ut not overly spicy. My wife loved the belgian goat cheese which was also awesome! Our waitress was very nice and attentive. we did not have to look for her at all. We ended with a Raspberry Chocolate martini and a strawberry chocolate one. Both were awesome! I highly recommend going here with a date. You'll thank me!"

  • "The food was fine but the service was poor. The hostess was also the server for all tables. We were also early by about 20 minutes early and they had NOOO idea how to handle this. The hostess/server had to confer with another server, who had to confer with the bartender, who had to confer with the manager. At that point we felt so uncomfortable like we stole something that we went down the street to grab a drink. We should have stayed at the new place. When we came back and their response was.. you're back? To top it off we used a gift certificate and all heck broke loose! very frustrating!"

  • "My friend and I went there for a catch-up date since we hadn't hung out in so long. It was very cute, but definitely had the vibe that it was meant for couples even though the crowd didn't represent that. The only issue I had was the bus boy or whatever his role is, was overly friendly in that he wouldn't leave my friend and I alone. It felt like he was trying to pick us up. We even kept our interaction with him as short as possible and he didn't get the hint that we didn't want to talk to him. I feel like I spent more time trying to ignore him than my friend and I actually having time to just hang out."

  • "The drinks and desserts were great especially the chocolate pizza. However the entrees were horrible. The portions were small and not worth the price. This place is clearly a wine and dessert spot."

  • "The restaurant has a small space for dining and overbooked the night we visited. We ended up waiting :40 later than our reservation time. The manager was apologetic and gave us a drink on him - which definitely was a nice gesture. Our overall experience was good and cannot wait to go back when their outdoor space is open for the season."
