My husband and I decided to give this place a shot. We were a little leery at first since the decor is a little dark. But our waitress and the awesome margaritas soon put us at ease. The food is tapas sized, so you can try a little of everything. And the guac is off the hook delicious. If you're into tequila that have an incredible selection. Will definitely go again!

Knowing that this restaurant is part of the same restaurant group as Sunda, Bottlefork and the likes I had high expectations! It didn't let down the service was great and the food was delicious presented well and we never waited long. It was a good date night spot but would fun with a lot of girlfriends or just a big group!

What a great place, the place is very unique, drinks and food were outstanding and the server - Shannon was very bubbly and friendly which made it a great place to be at. The tequila list is like a phone book, so many. The tacos melted in your mouth, so good. Very nice place.

Good food... GREAT guac!! Chips are perfectly salty and warm.... Went on a Tuesday...$5.00 margaritas that night. YUM!! $13 on any other night which I think is VERY expensive in that they are not very big... Small plates so great for sharing and trying different menu items. Service was good and waitress was very friendly.

Food was hit or miss - tacos were great, but our appetizer was not good (Chorizo Fundido). The drinks tasted really strong, but seemed really weak after drinking multiples. For $11-14 a drink it wasn't worth the price.

Our waitress was way too pushy and rushed us to get drinks, and as soon as our drinks came she rushed us to get food. My fiancée whom we were there bringing her 35th Birthday in was getting beyond annoyed. We had reserved to table days before online, and the waitress rudely asked for my credit card to hold the table, as if I was going to skip the bill or something. I have no clue how that waitress works in the service industry. She almost completely killed my fiancées Birthday begining. Luckily her and I can laugh things off otherwise that waitress would of ruined it. I think we will stick coming to this place only for drinks and to listen to the great Dj on Friday and Saturdays. We will never reserve a table again. Overall nice spot.

!AY CHIWOWA? is a very fun restaurant with good mexican food. Lots of "underground" sauces and delish drinks! A very fun place to watch the crowd and have a good time. There are tables in the front bar and a room in the back with lots going on. The music is loud, there was sports on the tv and it was a really fun time. I recommend it. It's a hidden find.

Our group of three arrived at Ay Chiwowa around 9:00 for dinner. The music was very loud, making it difficult to talk. The menu offered small plates and we decided to start with the mango guacamole, which was very good. For dinner, we all ordered the blackened tilapia tacos which were served on two mini tortillas. The tacos were also very good. I would recommend adding one more mini taco to this dish. We finished with two churros and dipping sauce.

Cannot say one bad thing about this place. It's so good and will definitely be back there again. For starters, we had the chips and guacamole. Chips were warm and salty, just the way i like. Then we had the chicken quasadillas. They had so much great flavor. My boyfriend had 2 steak tacos and I had 1 steak and 1 shrimp taco. Very tender and flavorful! Love this place! I was hesitant to try their cucumber margarita but they gave me a sample. It was so good and refreshing. Could probably get me in trouble drinking them in the summer. ;)

Hit up Open Table for options in the area and lucked out on $5margaritas and tortas. Food was great and staff very friendly. Had a small mix up with the bill that I didn't realize until after I left, but mostly my fault then for not checking the bill closer. Tacos came as two per order and I had ordered an order half-and-half. Was brought to me as two regular two taco orders and charged thus, though I only ate one as I had sent it back initially upon realizing the mix up

In a word, terrible - I must ensure to recognize the staff, they did their best but they were challenges by bad food and overpriced (basic) drinks. I will never go back, it offered nothing I could suggest for anyone. I had to choose noise level as energetic, it wasn't - it was very loud and very bad a mix of 80's and today without any mixing any any plan of what music works together.

This restaurant is in my neighborhood and their food is always good. The atmosphere used to confound me. I never liked going here because they played random music videos on their tvs. It didn't make any sense, they weren't the same videos as the music just random. I just wished they turned the tvs off, it would be a better atmosphere. They one upped me and put sports on their tvs. I couldn't be happier a Mexican restaurant in my neighborhood I want to go to. I now recommend this place to people.

Went in with high expectations. Everything was just OK. The maragaritas were not any better or different from those that one could get in any number of restaurants much less expensively. Appetizers were pretty good but again, the guacamole was good but no better than many other places. Tacos, tostadas, etc. were good and somewhat creative, but just average. We had a fun night out and a good experience but we were expecting more.

We went here before a comedy show for dinner. The place itself looks and feels a bit like the bars on that strip on Division street, even though this one just opened this year- kinda dingy and weathered beyond it's age. The tortillas were good, and the chips come out warm, although the guac a bit too creamy for my taste. The salsas were also tasty, with different flavors such as "peanut", which was subtle. Our server was friendly and just the right amount of attentive, although it took about 10 minutes once seated for her to come by. If I had this place next door to me I would probably stop in once in a while because the tortillas were truly quite good, but would not go out of my way otherwise.
