there was a large group seated near us and it was delightful to see how much fun they were having. it turned out to be a group of friends celebrating an engagement.

My only complaint that on the salad I had, there was WAAAAAY too much dressing. Our server took her time answering all of our questions about the menu and helped us make excellent decisions! The bacon wrapped dates - delicious, the pomme frites & dipping sauces were excellent & filling (LOTS), and the lamb meatballs were wonderful. A little disappointed in the lobster mac'n'cheese - it was too runny & tasted like it was made with fake cheese mix; the shrimp dip was a good dip, but really hot! I think we were full with the small plate offerings by this time. :) We also enjoyed the drink options and found them very tasty and strong. We'll certainly return to Avenues. Their early-bird incentives must work -- we've never taken advantage of that, but should.
We were there a few weeks ago and had great wine and repeated that. I also repeated main entre, the chili-spiced grilled shrimp. Having had it twice within a month, now i'm ready to move on to something else. Shrimp good, but polenta not as creamy as last time -- too thick and lumpy, but still tasty. Companion's fish was excellent. Bacon-wrapped dates good, but had those last time, too, and will move on.
