The Avenue Grill is renowned for its award-winning martinis, wine list, friendly bartenders and a welcoming, inimitable style.
The Avenue is a favored lunch and dinner destination among the uptown Denver business crowd, as well as a popular neighborhood bar and grill. What attracts them is the unpretentious, superior service, comfortable ambience and delicious food. The menu is reminiscent of a San Francisco-style bar and grill with Asian and Italian influences.

Diner Reviews
  • "We have been to the Avenue Grill many times for dinner and an occasional lunch. The food is consistently good and the service is top notch. It's one of our favorite go-to places in Denver! We love to sit at the window tables in the late evening. It's a taste of New York chic right in Colorado."

  • "Had to send two entrees back because one was over cooked and the other undercooked. So sad I used to love going here."

  • "I've eaten here often and the food is always unique and dependably tasty! Our server was very good this lunch and did an excellent job of gauging when we needed privacy for business and when we would like her attention. It's always a plus that the manager comes by to make sure things are going well with everything."

  • "Celebrated our 30 year vow renewal ceremony/anniversary at Avenue Grill. Katy, our server, was great and spot on throughout the meal. House Sangria (yummy), and the house beef stroganoff is a must! as is the Ahi Tuna. ENJOY!"

  • "Sadly, our food was tasteless. Very disappointing. This used to be a good restaurant. Very nice location and interior. Hope they get a new chef soon! We don't plan to return."

  • "This is our default go to neighborhood spot. The food, service and atmosphere are consistently good. And the price point makes it affordable on a frequent basis. We had another good meal."

  • "We've been going to Avenue Grill for 16 of their 25 years, and have never had a bad experience. The special July 4 weekend brunch kept the streak going. A $4 giant Bellini is a great way to start a Sunday morning, and the "brunch bread" took the edge off during the remarkably short wait for the food to arrive. The place was busy but not crowded, with a number of regulars who were greeted by name by the wait staff. We love the urban atmosphere, classy without being stuffy, and we usually snag a table by the large windows looking out on 17th Avenue. A nice dinner with wine and all the fixings can set you back over $100 for two, this delightful brunch cost just over$30, including the Bellinis."

  • "We discovered the Avenue Grill in the mid 1990's. Have not been back to Denver for many years and wanted to go back to one of our favorites. They still serve a great Martini and the menu, updated for current tastes, is very good. We'll be back again because the Avenue is in a class above the ordinary "restaurants"."

  • "The items we chose were all the best. Well done and creative! A favorite spot that I have repeated many times!"

  • "Our server was great. There when needed, attentive and friendly. Knew the menu. Food was, at best, fair. Party of 4, each ordered different entrees. There was no "wow". The food was just off, not flavorful, not spiced right, just disappointing. Doubt I would go back."

  • "After many years of outstanding service in the Uptown Neighborhood, the family-owned-and operated Avenue Grill continues to offer what is among the best service, cuisine, dining environments in downtown Denver. The description of the Avenue as a "traditional San Francisco style neighborhood restaurant" is right on the mark. The Avenue Grill is my very favorite Denver restaurant."

  • "Buffalo and filet were excellent. Veggies succulent and done perfect. Great Caesar salad as well. Authentic with anchovies on the side if you wish. Moderately priced. Dinner for two (no drinks) was $72. Dine outside if the weather is nice :)"

  • "Had reservations on Saturday, June 21st at 11:00 am. for myself, my daughter and grandson. When we arrived, the hostess was on the phone and there were only 4 other people in the entire restaurant. We waited at the podium until she could figure out where we should sit; she started to take us to a four seater in the front by the window and said "oh wait" this one is reserved????? So we went back to the podium to figure out where we should sit?? Ok, I thought making a reservation would speed up the seating process but obviously not! Finally, were seated, and a waiter named Rico came over after we sat there for almost 20 minutes; took drink order made jokes and left. Food was mediocre, poorly seasoned and small portions. Disappointing!"

  • "Our "dinner group" met at Avenue Grill for this month's gathering. There were ten of us, and Avenue Grill had no problem letting us make a reservation on-line for a group this size (many other places won't allow it). Upon arriving, our group was promptly seated and our server, Katie, saw to everyone's needs. She was very attentive throughout our entire time at the restaurant from our initial drink order through dessert. Everything we ordered was delivered to our table in a reasonable time, was hot, cooked properly, and delicious! I ordered the Avenue filet and it was one of the best steaks I can remember eating in a very long time. I would rate the Avenue Grill as one of the best bargains in fine dining that Denver has to offer."

  • " Our party of 6 was there for Father's Day brunch. The place was understaffed, the waitstaff not able to provide decent service. One person at our table sent back COLD quiche. It was returned after the rest of party was finished....and it was still cold and looked even less appetizing. This has been a favorite of our family and we have eaten here frequently. The restaurant has seemed to be having management, staffing problems for the last several months. Father's Day brunch may be the last time we eat here."

  • "I was just looking for a 10:00 reservation anywhere in Denver for Father's Day as we had a lot to do and it was the only time we could find. The food was excellent. In our family we have a pescetarian, a wheat allergy, a tomato allergy and a shellfish allergy. Everyone was able to order a meal they enjoyed at a decent price."

  • "Maybe it's what I ordered, but I didn't care for this restaurant. I was looking for a brunch for Father's Day. Should have gone with my first choice. My husband liked his steak. I had the salmon quiche."

  • "Seemed like it should be great place to eat but......... Cioppino - good serving size but tasteless, had to put in some wasabi to get any flavor. Duck very average. Seared AHi tuna done perfectly but again not much flavor. Had to return the 1st Martini as it was watered down from a lot of melting ice. Took 10 minutes just to get the waitress to come so we COULD return it. Waitress came to take our wine order when we were over half done our meal so we did not order wine. We were there for my wife's B'day but will not soon be back."

  • "We went later than usual after having been at a meeting. The service was very accommodating and the smaller food items requested for the late evening dining were perfect. We will be back. It was good food and service."

  • "Great experience for brunch. Well priced brunch drinks ($2) and a delicious selection of brunch entrees. Will definitely go back!"

  • "We celebrated our Mother's birthday party here. Three of us were vegan. They accommodated the three vegans wonderfully; and, the other dishes were great as well."

  • "We've been going to the Avenue Grill for years and have done so because of consistency and great food. This last time the service was good but the food wasn't anything special. Kitchen attention to detail was a little off. Nothing horrible, but certainly not the consistency we are accustomed to. Will likely try it again, but it's not at the top of our list."

  • "We love the ambiance of the Avenue Grill. We love the cocktails and the bar. The Brunch is very good and quite reasonably priced but dinner? Not so much. The iceberg salads were --- well they were strange. Did not like the dressing, presentation and flavor --- very disappointing. The mussels were good but the toast that came with them was laden with cheese and not very appealing. We both made the mistake of ordering the Rib Eye. My husband remembered from a few years ago --- well memories are not always correct. The steak was extremely fatty --- just a bad piece of meat. I did not eat mine. I think we may return for brunch or a late night drink . . . but dinner - nah."

  • "Avenue Grill continues to be a perfect venue for a relaxed business or cad dual lunch meeting. The menu is very good, the food preparation is excellent, and the service is first rate. "

  • "This is a great alternative to the frantic downtown dining options. If you can get a window table, it's great for people-watching. The menu isn't extensive but it has enough variation for just about everyone. Service was very friendly and efficient, and the food was good and reasonably priced (for an upscale Denver metro restaurant)."

  • "We have most often visited Avenue Grill mid-week but this visit was on a Friday evening and we found the noise level to be extremely high. We were seated in line with the entrance to the kitchen and those seated on one side of our table kept getting bumped by staff. My husband had to move his chair back too far to be comfortable in order to stop the traffic flow. They seem to have added a few more tables since our last visit and the atmosphere was very different. The food is still great, though! "

  • "FOOD WAS AVERAGE AT BEST. I'VE BEEN HERE BEFORE, SO I'LL GIVE THEM THE BENEFIT OF DOUBT - COOK HAVING A BAD DAY. THE NOISE LEVERL WAS VERY HIGH. HARD TO CONVERSE WITHOUT SHOUTING. MOST NOISE CAME FROM THE BAR, BUT PERMIATED ENTIRE DINING ROOM."

  • "Everything was totally delicious! The food, wine, etc. was fantastic! Just a little noisy for the older woman I was dining with, but it worked out. Cannot wait to return."

  • "I met a business acquaintance at Avenue Grill last week. As always, the service was prompt and friendly. My favorite, the ahi tuna was prepared just beautifully. The filet was fresh and tasty. The accompaniments were delicious. This is a spot I return to regularly"

  • "Dependable staple on 17th Ave restaurant row. One of few, good places with ample, free parking. Personal faves are the beef lo mein and the roasted chicken breast. Hreat pysters, good wine list and a nice beer selection. Bar is a great place to drop in and have lunch. Love the "Ave"!"

  • "As usual, the Avenue Grill was just right for old fogies like us. We went there for our 61st Anniversary. We had the special for the night (roast lamb) which was very good--excellent sauce. Service from Kaitie was excellent with good, friendly repartee and not too hurried. Cocktails and wine, appetizer (oysters Rockefeller--a bit scant) and dessert very good. Altogether a very fine evening. It was prom night, so many young people there getting fueled for a big evening. And the eclectically attired crowd, ordering everything from stacked hamburgers to top-of-the-line menu items showed why it is considered a great neighborhood venue, but one with class."
