Took my husband here for his birthday; he got the filet and I got the lamb--absolutely amazing. The wine selection is great for all price points, and very delicious and unique creme brulee. Our waitress was so friendly, attentive, and full of great suggestions. I will be returning and bringing friends!

We brought a group of six to the Avenue Grill for dinner before seeing the First Aid Kit concert at the Ogden. This venue is now one of my favorites. White linens on the tables, dark wood accents, cool bar, good bar menu and happy hour, and the service was among the best in Denver. The menu was just what we had been looking for. We had calamari and pot stickers as appetizers (just one order of each was enough for all six), then ordered the Mahi Mahi special. My husband and I like to split entree's and the kitchen graciously sent it out on two plates beautifully presented. The fish was perfectly cooked and the flavors subtle and well handled. I can't think of anything they could have done to improve on our experience!

Bottom line: I like The Avenue Grill! I wish we had something like it in Boulder, where we live. My wife and I stopped at the restaurant for an early dinner before attending a program at History Colorado. Avenue Grill is our first choice whenever we need a good meal at odd times of the day. Whether it's late lunch or early dinner, we always feel welcome when we arrive and satisfied when we leave. I wouldn't consider the food to be "foodie," it's just well prepared and well presented basic food. And the wine list is "notable" because, unlike so many other restaurants, Avenue Grill has kept their prices reasonable and the selection adequate to match the menu. That, to me, is notable. The decor of Avenue Grill reminds me of some of the old Wall Street restaurants in NYC, high ceilings, white tablecloths, well trained and attentive (but not intrusive) wait staff, etc. I say it is romantic because we've never felt hurried (so they can turn the table over), and it's a quiet and comfortable place where a couple can carry on a conversation, while enjoying a good meal. For our meals, my wife had the chicken and I had the ribeye. Both were fine. My wife started with the soup of the day and I had the clam chowder (which I almost always order). Both soups were tasty and served hot, which is important to us. We enjoyed a bottle of Scarpetta 2012 Barbera del Monferrato, which matched well with our meals. We've eaten at Avenue Grill, maybe, eight or so times - and will continue to do so. Keep up the good work!

We've been going to the avenue grill for years now (more than half of their 25 year run) and it's still as good as ever. The best item on their menu is the seared ahi with black and white sesame seeds with some peanut Thai sauce. To die for. Best ever, even compared to Hawaii. Great wine list too - you just can't go wrong. Our server was hilarious and really contributed to our experience.

Honestly, the food wasn't very good. My mom, sister, and I each had different dishes. They weren't bad, but they weren't great. I had the breakfast burrito, which needed more sauce/cheese or something, it was fairly dry. My sister had the hash, which came out not as we expected (too many potatoes, and large chunks of other stuff, not like any hash we have ever had), and she didn't really enjoy it. My mom had the huevos rancheros, which was the best thing out of the three. I probably wouldn't go back here :/

I think Avenue is a neighborhood and Denver gem. This visit I was reminded of how excellent the service, food and the ambiance are -- why don't we go here more often? It's truly my favorite of Uptown's grown-up, traditional, not-too-serious-but-seriously-good eating establishments. Don't change a thing!

The restaurant setting was nice (however a bit noisy), hostess was very friendly and the food was very good. Service was just okay. As we watched others get drinks brought to their table it took almost 30 minutes to get our drinks. Our waitress said the bar was backed up...maybe, but still...drinks didn't come until after we were almost done with appetizers. When I made reservations I mentioned it was my husband's birthday. They said or did nothing in relations to that. Not a huge deal, but even to offer a dessert would have been appreciated especially for the price and upscale level of the restaurant. Prices were what you would expect, a little high. But the food was very good and the presentation was as well.

The Martini's were great! The calamari not so great. Small portion. The calamari was chewy yet the batter not crisp. It was fair. My duck was warm not hot out of a pan. The breast slices were ok, the leg over cooked! Awful! The curry rice had very little flavor. Dessert was a bread pudding!!! Forget that also! Coffee.... Same as Village Inn!!! The restaurant does not care! It had its locals!!! As a non local, I look for what is new, fresh and that the chef really cares what goes out to the table! Don't bother unless you want a cocktail!

Our group of four went to the Avenue Grill for a 7:30 dinner. The noise level was fairly high at first, but the crowd cleared out by 8:00 8:30 and it was much quitter thereafter. The service was attentive, personable and efficient. The menu was eclectic and varied, with 2 bison dishes, but I would have preferred more vegetarian options. We had not been to this restaurant in over 5 years, and the food and service were as good as I remembered. An excellent choice for lunch or dinner.

We were excited to grab a booth at what seemed like a nicer, upscale eatery. Although the decor and price points were certainly high-end, the service and food product really fell short. Our server couldn't be bothered. The one time he stopped by, almost ten minutes after entree's were dropped, he half asked how things were but turned and continued on his way before we could answer. For a place that was relatively slow, he really did an awful job making us wait over & over. The food also really lacked between an embarrassingly small Oyster Rockefeller for $18 to a 1/3"- if lucky- cut of ribeye that came out medium and charred after being ordered midrare. I'll continue in detail on Yelp

For a date it's a great, we had a great booth so were a little away from the open noise. I could see for a date being in the heart of the noise might make conversation a little louder then you might like but it's worth it.

Fortunately for us, there was one table left by the window when we arrived! The hostess was warm and welcoming and seated us where we wanted. Our waiter --Rico-- was friendly and helpful. Our appetizer was one of the best we'd had. I had the lamb, which was tasty but a little tough for my taste (I'm typically not a meat eater); my husband really enjoyed the clam chowder. Over the past five years I've been dining at this restaurant, I've slowly seen it lose quality and go downhill. The food never tastes fresh, the menu never changes, the main courses always taste sopped in butter or cream and the service is remarkably bad. The last time I ate there, I think it took our waitress about 25 minutes to take our order (the restaurant was empty) and it took three asks to get our bill at the end of the meal. I will have to be desperate to choose this restaurant again.
