Fortunately for us, there was one table left by the window when we arrived! The hostess was warm and welcoming and seated us where we wanted. Our waiter --Rico-- was friendly and helpful. Our appetizer was one of the best we'd had. I had the lamb, which was tasty but a little tough for my taste (I'm typically not a meat eater); my husband really enjoyed the clam chowder. Dessert was wonderful. This reservation was a find! We will go back.

The food here is amazing. Everything we had was wonderful - potstickers, filet, ono fish, stroganoff and the parmesan potatoes - awesome! I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will go back again. The cocktails aren't bad either. The service was good and our server seemed very happy to be working there. I really have nothing bad to say about this place.

Over the past five years I've been dining at this restaurant, I've slowly seen it lose quality and go downhill. The food never tastes fresh, the menu never changes, the main courses always taste sopped in butter or cream and the service is remarkably bad. The last time I ate there, I think it took our waitress about 25 minutes to take our order (the restaurant was empty) and it took three asks to get our bill at the end of the meal. I will have to be desperate to choose this restaurant again.

We both had the mussels and salmon. Both were perfectly cooked. The broth/sauce the mussels were cooked in was absolutely outstanding. Veggies with salmon roasted well without overcooking. Desserts, lime and bread pudding were very good and portions perfect, not large.

I LOVE AVENUE GRILL! if only I lived closer, but even at an hour away I'm willing to make the drive because the dining experience is always first rate. Recently we dined there before a production at the Avenue Theater and as usual we were in dining heaven. Every course from appetizer to dessert was sublime. And to top it off the staff goes above and behind to make sure your every need is met, from hostess at the door to wait staff to server, all outstanding. Every dish we have had there whether it be lunch or dinner has been taste bud tintillating. You won't be disappointed if you give Avenue Grill a try, and no matter how far away you live, you will return - again and again.

We had lunch at Avenue Grill recently, and the food was just ok. One person in our group had the shrimp on the Cobb salad, and it was just about to go bad, so after one bite she didn't eat the rest. If we had more time we might have asked for something else, but we had to get back to work, so didn't say anything.

My server somehow charged us too much and commented on it after the checks had been dropped. When they tried to correct it they re ran my card twice with pending transactions so my car was then declined on the their swipe. Charges are still pending so I am left with little money for the next three days. Will not be returning.

We've been going to Avenue Grill for 16 of their 25 years, and have never had a bad experience. The special July 4 weekend brunch kept the streak going. A $4 giant Bellini is a great way to start a Sunday morning, and the "brunch bread" took the edge off during the remarkably short wait for the food to arrive. The place was busy but not crowded, with a number of regulars who were greeted by name by the wait staff. We love the urban atmosphere, classy without being stuffy, and we usually snag a table by the large windows looking out on 17th Avenue. A nice dinner with wine and all the fixings can set you back over $100 for two, this delightful brunch cost just over$30, including the Bellinis.

We discovered the Avenue Grill in the mid 1990's. Have not been back to Denver for many years and wanted to go back to one of our favorites. They still serve a great Martini and the menu, updated for current tastes, is very good. We'll be back again because the Avenue is in a class above the ordinary "restaurants".

After many years of outstanding service in the Uptown Neighborhood, the family-owned-and operated Avenue Grill continues to offer what is among the best service, cuisine, dining environments in downtown Denver. The description of the Avenue as a "traditional San Francisco style neighborhood restaurant" is right on the mark. The Avenue Grill is my very favorite Denver restaurant.

Had reservations on Saturday, June 21st at 11:00 am. for myself, my daughter and grandson. When we arrived, the hostess was on the phone and there were only 4 other people in the entire restaurant. We waited at the podium until she could figure out where we should sit; she started to take us to a four seater in the front by the window and said "oh wait" this one is reserved????? So we went back to the podium to figure out where we should sit?? Ok, I thought making a reservation would speed up the seating process but obviously not! Finally, were seated, and a waiter named Rico came over after we sat there for almost 20 minutes; took drink order made jokes and left. Food was mediocre, poorly seasoned and small portions. Disappointing!

Our "dinner group" met at Avenue Grill for this month's gathering. There were ten of us, and Avenue Grill had no problem letting us make a reservation on-line for a group this size (many other places won't allow it). Upon arriving, our group was promptly seated and our server, Katie, saw to everyone's needs. She was very attentive throughout our entire time at the restaurant from our initial drink order through dessert. Everything we ordered was delivered to our table in a reasonable time, was hot, cooked properly, and delicious! I ordered the Avenue filet and it was one of the best steaks I can remember eating in a very long time. I would rate the Avenue Grill as one of the best bargains in fine dining that Denver has to offer.

Our party of 6 was there for Father's Day brunch. The place was understaffed, the waitstaff not able to provide decent service. One person at our table sent back COLD quiche. It was returned after the rest of party was finished....and it was still cold and looked even less appetizing. This has been a favorite of our family and we have eaten here frequently. The restaurant has seemed to be having management, staffing problems for the last several months. Father's Day brunch may be the last time we eat here.

Seemed like it should be great place to eat but......... Cioppino - good serving size but tasteless, had to put in some wasabi to get any flavor. Duck very average. Seared AHi tuna done perfectly but again not much flavor. Had to return the 1st Martini as it was watered down from a lot of melting ice. Took 10 minutes just to get the waitress to come so we COULD return it. Waitress came to take our wine order when we were over half done our meal so we did not order wine.
