  • "Excellent restaurant. Very good food and great drink variety!"

  • "Food looked that was pre-cooked and re-warmed. Some orders had a lot of potato and almost no meet/fish and that was the main part of the dish."

  • "My husband and I meet a couple of friends for an early dinner at Aventura @5PM on a Tuesday in downtown Ann Arbor. We had heard it was to noisy for conversation, but I think because we went so early, it was perfect. The service was fun, and didn't mind explaining the menu or recommending. We throughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend this spot for many occasions!"

  • "First time at this restaurant and I was very impressed. Everything we had (and we had a lot!) was very tasty. My son and his girlfriend enjoyed their cocktails immensely and my beau and I very much liked the Sangria. I would highly recommend the paella - it was delicious - but make sure you bring a group to eat it as it's a lot of food."

  • "Had an outstanding dinner with friends here. The staff was helpful. It is a busy and noisy place so conversations can be difficult with a larger table."

  • "Definitely the best restaurant I've been to in Ann Arbor. Patatas bravas. Get them."

  • "Everything about this place is perfect. The waitstaff was very detailed in their descriptions and recommendations of menu items. Per our waiter's recommendation, we order the Mahon Y Miel. While the dish itself was relatively simple, the flavors of the cheese, honey, and salt, were extraordinary. My group of 3 ordered just 6 tapas (about 2 a person) and we were quite satisfied afterwards because while tapas are small plates, this restaurant did a good job to provide a generous tasting of each menu item. This place is very unique from the other restaurants in the area - as it is the only tapas style dining option (and not just the only option but one of the best tapas-style restaurants I've been to in MI). I will definitely be returning."

  • "Wonderful food & staff. Very unfortunately, the noise level is so high it is difficult to carry on conversations even at a 2- or 4-top table."

  • "Wow! Our first time at this restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious. Each and every dish was a delight, a different flavor of each, and kept it simple without so many different spices/flavors. You can identify the subtle notes of complimentary flavors of each dish, and my taste buds have never been so happy! Oh, and the cheese platter........WOW!!!! Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful in suggesting dishes (as my husband, son, and I are vegetarians) and drinks/wine. The service was outstanding. Aventura Restaurant is a gem in Ann Arbor and I hope it is around for a long time. We will be back, over and over!"

  • "We had a wonderful visit. Thomas was our server and he was knowledgeable and very attentive. Didn't bother us too much, but paid attention to when our drinks were low and plates were empty. The food was delicious and I'm looking forward to trying new dishes at my next visit."

  • "I decided that this was the restaurant I wanted to go to for my 51st birthday with my partner and step-daughter. I must say the food and service was great! I am making plans to go back there next week with a couple of friends. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The service, though a bit slow at one point because they had to remake our special pizza, was still quite good. The waiter (Neil) apologized profusely and we had our pizza shortly after. Overall great experience!"

  • "Food was good depending on which tapas one selected/ordered. The service was not that great at all. Our server seemed to have his attention diverted elsewhere too many times. We got more information about what might be good to order from the menu from the lady who had shown us to our table than we did from our server. At the end of the meal, we ordered a couple of desserts for the table and a latte for myself. The desserts came but the latte didn't. I had to remind our server who then tried to cover it up. It is best to space out your tapas orders, instead of ordering them all at the same time."

  • "Everything we ordered was delicious. Only complaint is that it was really loud at dinnertime on Monday."

  • "We had a 5 o'clock reservation on Saturday night and were seated right away when we walked in. Our 2 person table was a bit awkward in location angled in a corner of the booth seating and very close to the other tables. Our waiter, Eric was great and greeted us right away and was very knowledgeable. I ordered an iced tea, which is oddly brewed hot to order with a glass of ice - so it melts the ice immediately and gives you luke-warm tea instead of iced tea - strange. We had hits and misses on the food side - some dishes were bland, others like the lamb meatballs tasty. The fig tart I had for dessert was the highlight of the night! They need to make sure all dishes are truly a burst of flavors for a small bites menu, but worth another try."

  • "Our first time and we were totally pleased. Our waitress was very helpful and guided us to just about the right number of dishes for our group of 4. I would totally recommend is restaurant as a really fun place for a group."

  • "Aventura did not disappoint. The food was good and eclectic. It's great for going out with family or with a group -- as the servings are designed to be enjoyed by all, and you have a good excuse to try all sorts of things. The service was honestly the best service I've had in the area for a while. My only complaint was that serving ware was hard to come by -- with shared plates, I didn't want to have to use my own fork to help myself. And I had to keep asking for serving ware as they'd remove whatever they'd brought out with the previous platter. But, when that's the biggest issue, we can say that dinner was pretty good!"

  • "The Washington St corridor is gradually becoming more than a rival to Main Street. AVentura, the new tapas restaurant is an exciting, vibrant, delicious place to expand your favorite restaurant list. Pamela, our server made terrific suggestions. We followed them and enjoyed everything. The dates, mussels, and Brussels sprouts were put of this world. Ole'!"

  • "it seemed that they were trying to rush us out of there. Our waitress explained the menu quite well and we asked how we should order - all at once or in small order as it is tapas. She told us that we could order all at once and she would space out the dishes and pair them to enhance our enjoyment - sounded perfect in theory.... she ended up putting the entire order in at once, tapas plates came out every 5 minutes, leaving us no room on the already crammed table and feeling rushed. Ended up leaving us with completely unmemorable meal as we were just trying to finish plates to get them off the table."

  • "I was very excited, and looking forward to dining at Aventura. Tapas are one of my favorite types of food to eat - I love being able to try a lot of different things during the meal. What a dissapointment!!! The food was extreamly boring..... No flavor at all. Tapas are usually full of flavor, so much so that you can usually only eat a bite or two at a time anyway. We were a party of 6 and tried a variety of different items of the menu, so I know that it was not just that we ordered a couple of the 'wrong' things of the menu. That being said, the staff were great and the atmosphere was very nice. Probably won't go back again - my favorite is still Isalita.."

  • "Food was fabulous. Extraordinarily helpful staff that took lots of time to explain the many food and wine choices. (Thanks to our waitress Virginia). Wonderful place for our group's return to Ann Arbor for Saturday night dinner on the eve of the Michigan basketball team putting a beat-down on Sparty. . . .again."

  • "Gave this restaurant a less than perfect review only because of the noise level. Actually got a little hoarse trying to converse with my friend. Otherwise food and service were very good."

  • "Very slow service, but we were appeased by complimentary churros (out of this world), which the manager sent over to our to apologize for the less-than-speedy experience. The cheese platters are just wonderful, as are the desserts. Definitely reserve ahead of time - this place is hoppin'!"

  • "I brought 4 of my colleagues who were from Pittsburgh, Chicago and Kansas City, they loved it. Great variety of dishes, let our waiter pick all dishes, he did a wonderful job. He was entertaining and attentive. Thank you Thomas!!"

  • "Nice interior and interesting bar -- I like the juniper & cucumber gin & tonic. The dining room is lovely, but tables are too close together and it is very, VERY loud. Bare brick walls, tin ceiling, and bare floors make this like eating on a jet runway. Service: pretty good, but as in many AA restaurants, servers tend to smother you with smugly promotional, excessive descriptions of various dishes. Food: interesting, but often there is too much going on in one dish, with ingredients that sound upscale but aren't really good in combination. In some, the quality of the base products is inferior. The goat cheese coca was great, everything else merely so-so. This restaurant would be a 2 out of 5 in New York or San Francisco."

  • "I love Adventura. It is so much fun to be able to try so many different dishes. Their prices are very reasonable compared to some other tapas restaurants I've gone to, so it is really easy to be able to try several dishes and not break the bank. This is probably my most favorite place to eat in Ann Arbor and I'm not a young, hip person. I'm a 66-year-old female retiree, but I love going to Adventura."

  • "I was very excited to go as there is now finally a tapas restaurant in Ann Arbor/Metro Detroit! The meal started wonderfully. The pinxtos were excellent. Our subsequent dishes were, however, just "good". We had the goat cheese flat bread which was a little lacking in flavor, though the cheese itself was quite tasty. We also had the spinach stuffed pasta, empanadas, and tortilla espanola which also could have been more flavorful. A standout was the patatas bravas. The runny yolk added significantly to this home fries version of a classic dish. We finished with the chocolate cake which was a little too decadent for my taste. The drinks were good and I look forward to going back to sample more of their menu."

  • "this was an outstanding meal - nothing disappointing scallops with creme/orange sauce/pistachios - incredibly good - should put on main menu loved several other standard - esp. the brussel sprouts (rivals Michael Symons and Girl and the Goat) went on Valentines weekend - so really crowded - make a reservation"

  • "Came here on Valentine's Day for late night drinks and tapas. SO many things to choose from. The menu was a bit overwhelming, but all the dishes we got were great, and I look forward to returning to try more of the tapas. Our waiter was very attentive despite it being a very busy night. The gin and tonic selection was fun, and they have many other drink options as well, including an extensive wine and beer list. Aventura is a beautiful space in the middle of downtown. I will definitely be returning!"

  • "I was really excited to eat at this restaurant, because of the great reviews that I had heard about it. However, the restaurant did not at all come close to meeting expectations. Most of the food was fried, which maybe I should have known, but how could I? The menu was mostly in Spanish and the waitress who cared more about showing her tattoos than knowing anything about the menu never explained it. In addition the "mixologists" didn't know how to mix and the $10+ drinks were nowhere worth the price tag."

  • "I've eaten at Aventura several times since its opening, and I have yet to grow tired of its lovely ambience and creative menu. As a person who loves trying multiple dishes, the tapas setting provides the perfect opportunity for sampling with friends. Favorite dishes lately include the patatas bravas, canelòn de espinacas, mahòn y miel flatbread, colas de bruselas y uvas and the churros and sangria de tinto...but the list doesn't end there. Aventura's food and decor serve a perfect environment for date night, happy hour, dinner with friends or a late night snack. It will find its way into your heart with every bite."

  • "We have been to Aventura several times now. We've gone back for the food, but the poor service and noise level of the restaurant will make us time our visits to off-peak hours in the future. During our most recent visit, we arrived on time and were told by the hostess that our table wasn't ready. We waited and watched as a couple who came in after us was seated before us. Once seated, it took forever for a waiter to come. He took our drink orders and then proceeded to disappear. After waiting some time, he came with the drinks and took our order only to disappear again for ages. Food came very late, with another dish that we did not order. At the end of the night, we were charged for the extra dish."

  • "Every chef in Ann Arbor needs to get to Aventura soon to see where the bar has been set. A few are already close but none are there."

  • "The place was packed for a Wednesday night- great food, presentation, service. Definitely a 30-40 year old crowd, but we felt just fine being there....."

  • "We had an enjoyable night at Aventura. This was our third time in the restaurant and I have enjoyed the experience more each time I am there. The menu is huge and can be a bit too much. We tried a few salads. I liked the brussel sprout salad and the pear salad. We also had the Russian salad which I didn't really enjoy. I did like the suckling pig sandwich and the lamb burger slider. The empanadas were dry and uninteresting. The churos are a must for dessert. They come warm and crisp with three dipping sauces. The salted carmel was to die for. Our waiter was a trainee but he did a wonderful job. My only complaint was the table. I had made a reservation a week in advance but the table was crowded and in a cold corner."

  • "The food and scene at Aventura were amazing. This is, by far, one of the best places in Ann Arbor. The only issue we had was that we made an 8:15 reservation and weren't seated until 8:45. However, the drinks at the bar more than made up for our additional wait time. The service was excellent and we will definitely be going back!"

  • "It was way too loud. I couldn't hear the server when he tried to explain the menu. The menu was super complicated and I felt overwhelmed. The food was ok overall. Some of the items were fantastic and some left a lot to be desired. All in all, I think it would have been better for a group or a high energy event. I tried to go there for a date night with my husband, but we were so cramped between two large groups that we couldn't hear each other speaking."
