Dining was surprisingly good when first opened . The past two recent experiences were a nightmare on all fronts . Both times as we we're being seated we were told an identical story : someone decided to no show at the last minute and we are short staffed . Despite being one of two tables dining ( excluding those sitting at the bar ) service was practically nonexistent and bordering on bizarre . Four of six people got water , menus were left on table after ordering , partial orders were taken while some were in ladies room . The bread was stale , fettuccine cold , Marsala tasted like vinegar and "pot pie " was inedible , as it was obvious it had been thawed and refrozen possibly several times . This establishment should not be featured .

I came in with my family to celebrate a birthday, which I had put on as a note for the reservation. The staff made no comment about it. It was truly a skeleton crew running the place, one server (very new it seemed) and a bartender who was also helping expo the orders to tables, setting up togo/hotel orders and acting as host. It took an hour and a half for our entire meal to be served. My family and I made do with the situation, but honestly we have decided not to return.

I took a chance by coming here, because I had already heard a bad review from friends. Upon arrival, it seemed like it would be an amazing experience, but to my surprise, it was the exact opposite. Our server was the worst!! We had been sitting at the table 18 minutes before he even came over to greet us. Then at that point he dropped off glasses of water, and it was another 10 minutes before he came to get our drink/appetizer orders. He wasn't attentive/aware. At the end, we received our ticket and it was wrong. Asked for a mgr and they said there wasn't one on duty. We were charged for a side salad that I didn't order, drinks we didn't order, etc. It was a disaster.

We had a reservation for 7:00 PM, and had requested a table near the entertainment. However we were seated far from the entertainment. My recommendation is to arrive early if there is a musician you want to see. The food was good, but there was only one server taking care of the entire dining room. Although he did a great job, I think he could have been more attentive if he had not been the only one serving. The food was great, and it was a very romantic setting.

My husband and I went with another couple, this was a first for all of us. The place is really nice and had a romantic feel. However the service was horrible and the bad thing is there was only three other tables that night. We had to ask for stuff constantly...and still didn't get it. It took so long for one of my drinks it ended up being free. The drinks were pretty good but we weren't impressed with the food. Needless to say we won't be going back.

We had heard many good things about this restaurant and were surprised when we arrived and there were 3 tables, all of whom were waiting patiently to be tabbed out. (some had waited 20 minutes or more to check out) Evidently, they were short staffed or something but we stayed despite the moans and groans of the current patrons and were so glad we did. The food was outstanding and the ambiance and atmosphere were wonderfully quiet and romantic. I would go here again and would highly recommend to to everyone.

When we arrived there was no host/hostess to greet us. We were seated at a cozy little table with no menus. After a few minutes of waiting we were brought our menus. We ordered our drinks from the bar and an appetizer, then our menus were taken. Our waitress left quickly so we did not have time to put in our dinner order. When she arrived with our appetizer she dropped it and left, then came back after we finished to take our order. Mind you it have been 20 minutes since we last looked at the menu. When she arrived with the menu again we placed our order and waited and waited until our entrees arrived, well one entree arrived, we had to wait on the second for awhile. Overall the food was good but the service was seriously lacking.

Chicken Marengo and Chicken Limoncello were excellent. Pleasant guitar player. We ordered a bottle of wine and the waiter brought it already opened, didn't show selection til we asked to see it. We were originally going to eat at another restaurant on the other side of Memorial Drive. Navigating Memorial drive is difficult if you're unfamiliar with it. This was next to our hotel. Glad we ate here.

Service was initially slow. Found out later that there was only one waiter; the young man was working as fast as he could, and he did a great job! Shame on Avanti for putting him in that position though! The food was fantastic for the price, a great value. The seafood risotto portion was tiny, but the salmon was generous. On a downside, the guest guitar player had his amp turned up so loud that we literally could not carry on a conversation. I asked the waiter if he would ask the gentleman to turn it down, and he did. The gentleman did apologize for the volume after his set. So all in all, a mixed review, great food at a great price, but the poor waiter was being asked to do too much. But would I go back? Yes, I would!

Made these reservations because the establishment boasted world cuisine, but discovered after arriving it was a fixed menu. We asked to see the dinner plan and our server brought a piece of paper over that outlined three courses with no price attached and we didn't ask. The salad was awful, then a steak, fish and potatoes meal that lacked any unique flavor. Finally, a fancy hostess snack in strawberry yogurt. The food was mediocre at best, so imagine my surprise when our bill arrived for $150! Service was poor and the scheduled entertainment left the scene during the first course. Huge disappointment for what was otherwise a great date valentine's day date. Won't visit this place again. Bait and switch seems to be the game.

Avante is great for Valentine's Day! The pre-fixed menu is always good (filet & salmon), and they usually have live music - lovely! It is worth every penny which is $60 per meal. Liquor costs extra but is reasonably priced. Had to mark down food from outstanding to very good, because the dessert (chocolate cake) was a little dry. Also, there was no bread served. All other food was outstanding, and the plating was beautiful. Ambience was lovely with black tables and red cloth napkins. Our waiter accommodated us by substituting ice cream for the cake on 1 of our desserts. If you're looking for a special Valentine meal, this restaurant is definitely for you! We plan to come back every year. A Valentine winner!

My husband And I came here for a first visit for Valentines Day Dinner. Although we were a little upset that there was a set menu for that night, it was amazing food. The steak was so tender and delicious. You couldn't tell it was live music unless he stopped playing in the middle of a piece (when someone would give him a tip he would stop and than them). He was a great musician. I went to work the following Monday and told everyone to go there! Thank you for the great night

So I booked a reservation here and when we got there it was a set menu, which was NOT noted at the time of the reservation. We thought nothing of it and decided to give it a shot (first mistake). After a sub-par appetizer, a tasty filet Mignon, and then a bundt cake dessert that could've come from Target, we received the check to find out that this exceptionally lacking dinner had the lovely price point of $60 a head. If it was $60 total, I might have been okay with its mediocrity, but at $130 for a couple it was utterly appalling. Lessons learned : don't stay when they drop a set menu on you & always ask how much it will cost.

Mediocre service and the food tasted as if it was heated in a microwave and then brought out. Not to mention all of it could easily be replicated. I and many of the couples around me did not know until the server told us that the menu was set. Mind you I had a reservation and this was for valentines day. It was very apparent that they had issues with not telling people. IN fact one customer voiced it very loudly stating he was not happy with the fact that he was not told about the fixed menu until he was seated. He also stated that he had reservations just as I did. I expect much more than mediocre service at a place with a fixed menu and very expensive at that. Mediocre food, mediocre service, and immature servers.

I had only been to this restaurant previously for drinks at the bar & really enjoyed the ambience! I decided to take my family here for my grandmother's 92nd birthday! The food was wonderful; appetizers including sauted mushrooms served covered in Brie with toastettes, fried calamari & amazing caesar salads were all very tasty & beautiful presentation! Entrees were good, but not fabulous. The spaghetti and meatballs were awesome, pizzas were split, one was very fair & the other was great! They had a great dessert selection, but accomodated us with the cake we brought especially for my grandma! They all sang to her & it was a great evening! I will definitely recommend this place as well as return!

Finally got our food, which was actually great, but didn't get the wine we ordered, and then had to remind them to take it off the bill. This was my first time to dine at Avanti. I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get a reservation for a table near the entertainment. My visit was more for meeting the jazz guitarist Maurice Johnson, but turned out the food and service was very good. I had lasagna and caesar salad. Both of these were delicious, and presentation of the entree was beautiful. The hot food arrived hot and the cold food arrived cold, and I enjoyed a nice visit with my date. Our table had a very good view of the beautiful bar area, and we enjoyed a bit of an impromptu show put on by a woman at the bar who appeared to have imbibed too much. We hoped she was okay, but she was not an unpleasant distraction - more of an amusement. The music was great.

While not a buffet lover, Avanti has it down to a science. Reservations make the provervial line tolerable. The choices aren't "endless", yet varied, and the quality is excellent. What's important is the warm is "warm" and the chilled is "chilled". Their ratio of servers to tables is spot-on! Having three different stations for main courses, desserts and the Bloody Mary Bar for garnishes makes the flow of patrons less crowded in a limited space. Whether you want a Breakfast or Lunch meal - Avanti gives you that choice. Wonderful Mother's Day and other special occasion Brunch - Avanti is our choice. (aside note: the coffee is excellent)

We have been here five times; the first three times the food and service was awesome. However, the last two times both the service and food was not what we had anticipated. Requested a quiet place as my uncle is hard of hearing and had to ask to turn the music down. We were all freezing with the AC blowing down on us and the food. Requested the AC be adjusted, also. The waitress was extremely accommodating; however, slow with serving bread and water. When entertaining or just a quiet evening, I wouldn't recommend Avanti's. Loved it 3 out of 5 times. But won't go again.

We experienced Avanti for the first time last Friday night. Our reservation through open table was super easy. When we arrived, the atmosphere was very pleasant, the staff was ready to greet us. The tables with lit candles were lovely as were the decorations. The food was fabulous and the "flirtini" was delicious! The prices were surprisingly affordable. The absolute only complaint is the waitress brought my husband's beer in a bottle; not a glass. Considering how beautiful everything else was, that seemed rather crass to us. The guitar player was excellent, his choices were on par, and the volume was perfect. All in all, we would recommend this restaurant for a nice evening out.

Found out about this place from opentable but had driven by this place many times without a second glance. This place was AMAZING!
