Avant Tapas & WineBest Anniversary Meal EverAvant is our new favorite restaurant/winery! Friendly staff, great atmosphere and the wine wall is such an inventive idea; love it! We both had mac and cheese; his had lobster in it, along with little dishes of goodies like tomatoes and jalapenos to add in. Between the cheesy heaven we were in and the fantastic guitar/vocals of Matt, we experienced both happy hearts over our sinful meal, and the tearful joy that comes from truly being moved by the honor of hearing this man play. The acoustics were excellent; though there were plenty of customers, we could hear each other and the waitstaff easily. The staff was fantastic; they were knowledgeable regarding the menu items and responded to our requests immediately. The unique wine tasting and very wide variety of wines to choose from was very impressive. We returned the following weekend and found the experience equal to our first visit a week earlier. Our only regret is that they don't do wine tours on Sunday. We will return to take the tour and then enjoy the dining again. The food was fabulous and the wine wall was fun. The different wines were very good. Nice layout of tables and chairs but really noisy with all of the people and guitar player in the corner. The food (good variety, full flavors, fair portions); wine (they have a cool wall of wines to try with a card they give you at the table--and the selection is fair); the service (our server, Katrina, was attentive and knowledgable and very friendly); atmosphere was relaxed and nice, but not too fancy and not too loud. However, the food is the hidden gem. We had an outstanding meal. Of course, the pizza's are raved about, but the cpus cpus salad and the pork vegetable soup of the day had us gushing.
