Lunch at Avalon GrilleMy wife and I (seniors) had a delightful lunch at Avalon Grille June 12, 2013. This is a beautiful space with a super bay view. The food and service were all that you could ask for, including some very nice wine.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and atmosphere!Great spot in the heart of Avalon. Steak and Seafood perfect. Service was impeccable.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAvalon Grille6:30 on a Friday night worked great for us. Probably got more crowded later. Service great and great updated tasteful and high end chic decor!
Our reservation was moot. They didn't seem to find it, but luckily it didn't matter.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAvalon Grill--a great spot to dineExcellent cuisine, try the grilled brussel sprouts, they were delicious.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSavor the FlavorThe "smart casual" dress code for the Avalon Grille says everything you need to know about the restaurant. The menu is well thought out and covers all the savory tastes for your meat lover to your veggie lovers palate. The bar serves delicious elixirs to enjoy while watching the game on their many flat screens if you want to get out of the sun and still enjoy on the beach front atmosphere. Every staff member I came in contact with was friendly and welcoming. Our waitress provided great service and she was knowledgeable of the wine selection. I, however, recommend the Pear Mojito! YUM!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely view and foodWe had a lovely lunch at Avalon Grille and enjoyed the view of the Avalon beach strand. Food was very good. I especially enjoyed their clam chowder and cobb salad. Wanted to eat light, after a little bit of a rough ride over from San Pedro. They were also very accommodating with our late arrival. Service was a little slow, although not terribly and it was very friendly. Would definitely go there again.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMtable issueAlthough our food was great, the location of our table was not. It was located next to the door and in front of the hostess check in. We had people standing over our table for most of our meal. I was so crowded with people, that at one point I had to scooter my chair way in because people we crowding in to that area.
I think they either need to be more observant of how many people are in the area and ask people to move outside or get rid of that table. No one in my party appreciated having peoples butts in their face while they tried to eat.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNice dinner with good ambienceWe made reservations here on a very busy Memorial Day weekend. We were seated very quickly, and our server was quite attentive. The surroundings were very nice - the restaurant is lovely inside, and windows facing the waterfront
were left open. The food was good, too, except maybe not as exceptional as I had been led to believe. Somehow, looking at the menu, we didn't find that many dishes that we were tempted by. Ended up choosing a sea bass ceviche (excellent), the meta appetizer (a sort of crostini platter with hummus and other toppings - okay), and shared a Cobb salad (lovely) and the Moussaka (I like mine better). I would say that the food was good, but not remarkable. But as a dining experience, it was quite nice overall.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful aal the way around! My wife, daughter and I celebrated college graduation and it was fabulous. My wife and I had the Hailbut with loenta and spinach. It was incredible!
Highly recommended.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding RestaurantMy Girlfriend and I had a fantastic experience at Avalon Grille. The hostesses got me the table I had requested with my reservation, which was right in front with a harbor view. Our wait staff was amazing, from the water and bread server's all the way to our main waitress. The food was outstanding as well! The restaurant was extremely busy, but I would definitely go back and give my recommendation.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best more up scaleOne of the best more up scale places to eat in Avalon.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey but RecommendedA bit pricey however I enjoyed my filet and my girlfriend found the clam chowder to be delicious. We also shared a delicious cheese cake for dessert.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great night! ThanksWe had a great night! Thanks for making our anniversary special.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe chef uses fresh ingredientsThe chef uses fresh ingredients to create delicious Southern-style food. Martinis were tasty. Service was attentive. I recommend the fried green tomatoes starter. Sand dabs were the special seafood of the day and they were prepared perfectly! Great place to eat a leisurely meal and watch the crowd go by.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMNot your typical tourist trap!Wonderful knowledgeable server. Every single thing we ordered was delicious. Simple but innovative menu - we are discriminating foodies and ate every single thing on our plate. Not your typical tourist trap.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good service. AccommodatedVery good service. Accommodated my request for an ocean view table and brought us a free desert for our anniversary.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAvalon so needed a diningAvalon so needed a dining experience like this! Bless you!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ordered the fresh fishWe ordered the fresh fish of the day, Mahi Mahi. The fish was well prepared and delicious, but pricey. For an over $30.00 single plate, I felt it was skimpy, and lacking a fresh vegetable. It was served with a few greens on top of the fish.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice place for dining in AvaloBeautiful setting. Good food, not great. Portions of appetizers VERY large, so sharing is recommended. Some moderately priced winesavailable. All in all, very good.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMService and food were outstanding.Service and food were outstanding. Clam chowder is by far the best me and my girlfriend have ever had! Burger was delicious, the Mac n cheese that comes with the Monday pot roast could use a little help and French kiss spirit was a little strong. Other then that... phenomenal!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the moment I booked myFrom the moment I booked my reservation, the Grille took care of my every need. This was a special occasion and it turned out to be a real fine dining experience.
I usually don't care for calimari but my husband ordered it as an appetizer(fried)and it was the best I ever had! They threw in some shrimp in the mix and it made for a good portion size.
Our server was extremely helpful. I had a long day at work and asked what drink she suggested. I had the "French kiss"- vodka, pineapple&raspberry juice, garnished with blackberries . And that was exactly what I needed!
This time I had the salmon which was amazing but next time im going to have the "half chicken" again. Its a little on the pricey side but you get what you pay for here.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect EveningBlue Cheese steak was best I've had. Steak itself was perfect, as was everything else, including getting the perfect table alone at the back of the restaurant.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great table withWe had a great table with a beautiful view of the bay. Employees were super friendly. Waiter was professional but not stuffy, which we really liked. We were disappointed with the calamari appetizer and drinks (margaritas). My quail entree was delicious. Calamari: I think the cap must have fallen off the salt shaker. Some pieces were bland and others were so salty they were hard to eat. I declared it inedible, but my husband who loves salt ate it but admitted that it was hard to eat. We also thought our margaritas were way too sour (face puckering sour), but we watered them down and drink them. Overall nice though because of the view, ambiance and friendly service.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
