  • "My wife and I found Autre Monde when it first opened. Since then we have returned with new friends each time. It's a chic, small plate restaurant that you would expect to find in the city (not Berwyn). They recently opened a patio, and since it was a perfect summer evening, we asked to sit there this time - nice addition. The food was still as great as ever. We look forward to returning periodically with new friends."

  • "Autre Monde is one of our favorite restaurants in Chicagoland and it is so nice to have a restaurant of this caliber in our neighborhood! The menu is local, generally sustainable, and always delicious. The menu also changes regularly with good specials and so that's why we can go back every week! John and Christine run a tight ship and the service is wonderful with a great and friendly staff. Highly recommend Autre Monde. The only caveat is that the indoor dining room can get loud when busy."

  • "I've enjoyed many meals here, but this was my 1st brunch and it did not disappoint! I tried everyone's dish and each was great. The only bummer was we sat outside and as it started to warm up we grew very uncomfortable. There is no air circulation outside as it is covered and there are no openings or windows and several little gnats swarmed the table. Wish the outside was more airy gazebo than closed tent. Otherwise it was lovely. The food, coffee, drinks, and service left us excited to come back!"

  • "We had a groupon for brunch, so at least we didn't pay full price. The food was fine, but not spectacular for what the prices on the menu were. The ambience is lacking...the restaurant is very bare and not very romantic. We were seated in between two big groups of people, so we had lots of talking on both sides. I've heard people say it's a must, especially for foodies, which I guess it is, but maybe not for brunch. It didn't seem that original."

  • "Wonderful venue, great menu, fantastic service (thank you, Liz!). Enjoyed ourselves immensely. Blood orange gimlets are a knockout. Don't be "scared" of the gin; the OJ makes it a sweet experience. We used a Groupon and were not shunned or ignored because of that, which sometimes happens. The breakfast meat pie was savory and delicious, the french toast brioche amazing. I had the chicken and chestnut pancakes with homemade syrup: awesome. Thank you, Autre Monde."

  • "We love Autre Monde for a rendezvous with our friends living in the wester suburbs but winter or summer, the restaurant needs to fix the temperature control. Every time we dine we are HOT! There is no air circulation - the only fan is over the bar. Please add some ceiling fans to improve air movement in the restaurant. We arrived at 7 and the temperature was OK, but by 8 when the room is filled with people it is just too warm and makes dining really unpleasant."

  • "We loved everything about the food and drinks we had at Autre Monde. The Med Mule and Blood Orange Gimlet were amazing. Highly recommend the octopus, hummus and homemade pita and the blue fish special. The only thing that did suit us was the restaurant set-up. The tables are very close together and the noise level is very high, so high that sometimes it is almost impossible to hear. Think it would be better if we were with larger group at table vs on bench of small tables along wall. I still highly recommend Autre Monde, just be prepared for that will not be intimate conversation filled dinner."

  • "We were not impressed with this restaurant. Went there for Sunday brunch, and although the food was good, it was not exceptional as we had expected. The cocktails were overpriced and the service was mediocre. When you spend $75 for brunch for 2, you expect a little more."

  • "Mediterranean, lebanese-influenced delicious food. Small plates are particularly spectacular. The grilled octopus and piri-piri mussles are fantastic. All pintxo choices are winners. When ordering, you should stagger 2 plates at a time for better timing. The wine list is ample, Balkan and Lebanese wines are available, affordable and good choices."

The drinks were superb as well and we tried a new gin - nil let's that was great! Another great evening. I just wish the noise level was more manageable."

  • "I love the food - I've never had a bad meal there. It is noisy so be prepared for that. Also, the drinks are a little on the pricy side and you will not get the desired pour in your glass of wine or mixed drink. It has always been like this and I hope one day it will change."

They have a well crafted menu filled with bold flavors and beautiful presentations. The back patio is a great place to enjoy the weather and relax while being served some of the best food in the area. The drink menu is expertly curated and whether you are in the mood for an alcoholic drink or not, you can be assured that whatever you choose will be amazing. The service is pleasant and helpful without being in your face. You can tell that the employees want their customers to enjoy themselves. Every detail of the meal is accounted for and it doesn't stop wowing you from start to finish. If you haven't been...go now!"

  • "We have been meaning to try Autre Monde for over a year now. We have heard amazing things and we always try to frequent our local restaurants. I thought Father's Day brunch would be the perfect opportunity and it WAS... without a doubt. We were a little early and they were able to sit us right away. The service was fantastic! I was a server for MANY years, so I appreciate good service more than most. Our server was friendly and eager to answer any and all questions. My daughter thought there was "nothing she would like on the menu," but our server explained what a few items were (since mom's advice was not good enough) and she ended up devouring her meal and then some of ours. The food was delicious. The bloody mary's were great."

  • "We went for brunch on father's day and had a wonderful experience. Even though the restaurant is not necessarily outfitted for kids (no coloring books, kids menu, etc.) they were very accommodating with the three kids we had. They offered a few easy menu items and even moved our table from a high top to an outside table which was better for the kids. The food was excellent and more high end than I expected. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable."

  • "We were a group of four and had several plates. One plate was a little too salty, and another plate - the chicken wings - were OK, but nothing special. Everything else was outstanding. The Tangine was perfect, and everything involving sausage was done perfectly. Our server did a great job. She was friendly and professional. We never felt rushed but we never had to wait too long, either."

We gave them every opportunity to tell us it was too late and they were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Food recommendations were spot on. Great small plates and a knowledgeable barkeep. "

  • "No doubt - the food here is delicious. It's fresh and imaginative. My biggest problem is the noise level discourages conversation, even at a table for 4. The tables are too close together and there is nothing to absorb sound. In addition, the seating is uncomfortable. The benches on the wall side sink in low and the table is far away. It makes you feel like the people in the chairs across from you are sitting about a foot higher. Awkward. At the other tables, the chairs are just uncomfortable and the space is really tight. Just not quite as relaxing as it could be."

  • "We have been to Autre Monde a number of times. It is now our go-to place for mid-to-up scale dining in the Oak Park area. We recently had a 25th anniversary party for a small group (8 people) there and it was fantastic yet again. The Mediterranean menu of small-to-large plates is varied with good choices for vegetarians as well as carnivores. Foodies will not be dissapointed. The wine list is small but VERY eclectic with a small-but-nice selection of eastern European and Baltic wines you won't find anywhere else in the area so oenophiles will also not be dissapointed. The noise level is a bit high inside but if you can get onto the patio in back, there is no problem at all. Servers know the menu and the wines very well."

Jackie, our server, was exceptional; the food selections we shared were all hits, and the craft cocktails and exceptional wine list...oh yeah, and dessert all topped it off.   • "We went with a group of 10 and booked on Open Table so we had to make 2 reservations. One for 6 and one for 4. Thankfully they were able to accomodate us when we got there and put two table together so we could all be together. Love the food and the atmosphere here. It's a find for Oak Park"

  • "A very enjoyable experience. Burrata - the best ever. Small plates of artichoke, spinach were unusual & delicious. Polenta - infused with cheese, also extraordinary, as were the fish fritters. Italian white wine was excellent. Flat bread nicely done. Desserts were pleasing . Only the cannoli disappointed. Service was cordial, caring, efficient. "

  • "I have to say that the service was outstanding for brunch on Sunday morning. We were quickly seated even though our reservation was almost an hour later. A waitress quickly came and took our drink order and explain the specials and menu options. The food was delicious. I tried the Spanish olive oil fried eggs, the french toast and the Cazuela, all wonderful. So glad this place is close to home, will definitely be a frequent visitor."

  • "interesting menu choices and great plates for sharing. We had the charcuterie platter and wood-grilled octopus for starters. The octopus was the best I've ever had--grilled perfectly. Then we shared two entrees--a caldo verde and chicken tagine. Desserts were also delicious. The servers were very helpful and gracious too. I'll be back soon. "
