  • I would marry the meatballs!
    OpenTable Diner Since 2014
    Dined on 11/23/2014
This place is really amazing. We had the short ribs, and the bolognese and both were fantastic. Also, if they ever offer the meatball appetizer...get it! I would marry those meatballs. I just wish they were on the menu all the time. Another surprise star was the plum and spec salad with barrata. Make sure you have a bite with the plum, cheese and ham...I know this sounds bizarre...but it will taste like ice cream, in the most delicious way. I know that sounds like the last thing you want in a salad...but believe me, it's amazing when you have a bite with a little of everything. When you don't get all the parts, it's still a good salad, but mix them together and it's CRAZY! Also, the chocolate cake with salted caramel gelato was delicious, as was the panna cotta. And we loved all the wine we had too. You really can't go wrong with this place!

My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous meal in a very comfortable setting. Our starters were both amazing featuring ingredients such as fresh pasta, burrata, and hazlenuts. My entree of poached lobster, fresh squid ink pasta and vegetables was perfect, as was my husband's branzino. Dessert was some of the best panne cotta since Italy. The whole meal transported us back to Tuscany. Superb!

I had a reservation at 9pm and had to wait for 40 mins to get seated. If I had known we had to wait for so long, I would have gone somewhere else. It defeated the point of a reservation. Waiting until 10pm to sit down and order was unacceptable in a city where there are so many other alternatives. The restaurant did even try to compensate for our wait. We were just sol. The food was good, but not worth waiting for. The servers were very nice and quick.

this wasnt our first time, last time ate in the main area this time the bar. the food was pretty good, kale/squash salad, octopus, truffle pasta, tuna tartare, broccoli rabe, flat bread good wine. the tartare and truffle pasta were just okay the rest very good. the bar area was not good. the barman more interested in talking at the other end with friends about modeling than engaging and it felt neglected compared to other choices. i would not eat at the bar again, but would come back to the main area. also there was some kind of spat between two people at the bar with language that was AWKWARD and not ok. given the were clearly known by staff at the restaurant this is not good.

Absolutely loved our meal at Aurora! We came in on a whim, and we beyond pleasantly surprised at how wonderful everything was! The food was delicious - very nice, authentic, modern Italian fare - the service was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant itself was adorable! If there was one thing I had to complain about, it would be that our courses were a bit rushed ... Each dish came out almost immediately after the one before it had been cleared. On this particular night, however, we had a long drive home ahead of us, so we didn't really mind as much as we would have if we had been planning on staying in the city for the night. Overall, a really GREAT Italian restaurant in SOHO! We can't wait to come back!

The experience was enjoyable. The food was good. The service was very professional. But when we got the check, a 20% had already been added to the total (as tip). Why? As the receiver of the service, I expect that we leave that decision up to me. I found this a bit insulting like the restaurant is assessing its own service....

Had never heard of this place and found it on OpenTable. We had two appetizers and four different dinners. Each dish was well-prepared and the taste was excellent. We had the scallops, bronzini, Bolognese and their special pastas. Tried all four dishes and each one was better than the next. I do recommend. Nice ambience, very good service

We came to Aurora for my mom's 80th bday dinner. It came recommended by a friend and everything was perfect! The service, waiter, food and wine were above average. So much freshness and flavor made each meal delicious. Our wine from Northern Italy was complex and complemented everyones dinners. Dessert was just as delicious! I can't wait to go back!

The food at Aurora was very good, but our friendly waiter made it a very enjoyable experience. He was forthcoming, friendly & knowledgable. This was my second visit to Aurora. My bf and I had our first date there and we went back for our six month anniversary. The first time everything was lovely and the food was excellent. On our visit this past Saturday night, everything was less so. Service was fair but we never had utensils when our food arrived, except for our first course. The veal meatballs were gristly, the poached egg on my asparagus was also cold, both of our hot pasta dishes were served on cold plates, the affogato was served with cold espresso, and my panna cotta was a little rubbery. Everything was sub-standard, and when there are so many great Italian restaurants in the area, I wouldn't bother to go back to Aurora after this experience.
