A word from Aureole
Charlie Palmer's signature Progressive American cuisine first took root in the original townhouse location of Aureole, where the chef made an early commitment to farm over factory food. Today, Aureole continues to shine at One Bryant Park under the kitchen leadership of Executive Chef Marcus Gleadow-Ware. Dining at the contemporary Aureole is staged in two venues: the formal Dining Room and more casual Bar Room. In the Dining Room, terra-rich colors and golden lighting combine to create a comfortable environment and opulent warm glow, reminiscent of Aureole’s original townhouse intimacy. Evening guests may select from a 3-course prix fixe or tasting dinner menu. For lunch, a seasonal 3-course prix fixe menu is available as well as a la carte selections. Reservations can be made here for the Dining Room only. To reserve in the Bar Room, please visit the Aureole - Bar Room.

  • "This was my second time here. I like the color palette of the more formal dining room, its comfortable seating and the variety on the fixed price three-course menu I had asparagus salad and lamb shoulder and for dessert he small scoops of assorted sorbets. The asparagus salad was a bit disappointing as it didn't have much asparagus--more leafy greens with some cippolini onion. The lamb was cooked as I requested (a little pink) and had beans and grape tomatoes and nuts as a side. The assortment of sorbets was a little overwhelming (six scoops of different flavors) but I tasted all and finished my two favorites--the mixed berry sorbet and the passionfruit. I had a glass of a nice Rioja Reserva with the lamb and Cognac after dinner."

Extensive wine list with tastes to fit any pallet also helped. You could eat here, appetizer dinner, and dessert (without drinks/wine) for 200 a couple + tip...definitely try it out, you won't be dissapointed."

  • "Server suggested chef's tasting menu = wonderful. She also chose good wines. Our only complaint was that once dessert was served, server abruptly left. Interrupted me mid-sentence to say "Your dessert is here." Did not introduce us to the person who would be taking care of us, nor did she thank us for coming or ask how the meal was. Did not offer coffee or after-dinner drinks. Just disappeared. Only employees left were busboys. We felt rather abandoned and it kind of spoiled the evening. She informed us that "we all share tips" so I guess it didn't matter if she stuck around to finish her job. Too bad, since up until then she was working towards a very generous tip. I can't say that we will return to aureole despite the wonderful food."

  • "We had a wonderful meal in the dining room before seeing a musical. The restaurant is very conveniently located in the Theater District/Times Square. We had the 3-course prix fixe, which was more expensive than if we had dined in the Bar Room, but the menus are different, and we really wanted to try the scallops and black cod entrees, both were superb. Our first courses were the asparagus salad and Wagyu beef, both excellent. And, both our desserts were wonderful: fudge cake and lamington. Service was impeccable. The only issue was my husband's drink which was a JB Black neat, but to him tasted different or weak. Otherwise, would have been 5/5 stars overall."

In fact, we kept in contact with the restaurant because they were so great at calling us and letting us know everything was okay. This time I brought my family so that we could all enjoy the experience -- which was once again exceptional. The menu is inventive and perfectly descriptive of the cuisine. We all enjoyed our choices immensely. The wine list is comprehensive, and there are choices for every budget. The wine steward made excellent recommendations. The service staff is knowledgeable, polite and unobtrusive. They seemed to anticipate our every wish. I will continue to return as often as I can."

However, while we asked for and received a quiet dining location, the wait staff was too attentive and took away from the privacy and intimacy of the dinner.   • "This was probably the worst experience I've ever had at an upscale restaurant in Manhattan. A few points, and I will leave it at that: 1) for prefixed food ($96/per) the amount of food provided was minuscule - 2) the quality (i had the cod) was superb - really good - but the meal was like an appetizer 3) the service was not particularly good especially the head waiter - the woman that provided the wine was very good however. 4) the wine ($150+ for the bottle) left sediment at the bottom - totally embarrassing. It was brought to the head waiters's attention - and all he said was "oops sorry about that" - mind you our bill was in excess of $400 for 2 of us - "sorry about that doesn't cut it" - won't be returning unfortunately."

  • "Well after ordering told one of pre theater choices unavailable and didn't substitute another; asked for bread after 15 minutes and told it would be another 10 minutes because of food inspectors. After asking again since diners in the bar area were receiving bread the waiter went to ask and did not return at all. Had to a tell captain who first said it wasn't being served. When I said I would show him tables with bread he went and got it and spoke to the waiter. As usual food was impeccable but after years of dining with Aureole this was the first serious mishap. I was especially disappointed because I had invited friends."

  • "Superb restaurant in Time Square, what a surprise! Excellent restaurant world class food, service well deserving of any awards. Our fixed price menue was $95 per person but so worth it. Staff was knowledgable and able to explain how each dish was created. Best dishes - The Lobster minestrone , just outstanding creamy flavorful with great flavours. The king salmon gravlax was so beautiful- almost too pretty to eat. Served on a slight brioche crouton swirls of gravlax with trout roe in the center. Our top main courses of four were beef pot Au feu, beef served three different ways, the pork tenderloins, venison served with an orange flavours aunju and the scallops. All amazing."

There was no a la carte menu, when the server was quizzed she replied we were i the wrong room, not sure the diner could be in the wrong room. She asked if we wanted to move. I suppose that serving a la carte would have ruined the ambiance. The chefs tasting menu was a series of small plates that were uninspired. The foix gras upcharge was uncarmelized and under cooked."

  • "Aureole seems to be mostly about the branding and the location. With so many amazing places in the city, time square area is a really rough part of the city to find delicious gems of places. Aureole has beautiful ambience and was convenient to the show; however, largely the food seemed over priced (which felt mostly due to the real-estate location). Don't get me wrong, the service was really good, and the experience fine --- but there are many more places within the city that have much much better food."

  • "This was my second time eating here. Sat in the dining room this time; loved the calm, quiet atmosphere. The Ruby Red Shrimp appetizer was very good; tried venison for the first time; it was so flavorful (not at all gamey) and tender. We were pleased by the little "surprises" that came between each course. The wine list (or should I say book!) can be intimidating. but the sommelier gave an excellent recommendation which we enjoyed very much. This is now a must on any trip to New York!"

I felt I was in 1970 ambience that was nice but look old even the fresh flowers arregenments look back to the epoque , we had the lunch menu of the day and the selection was just OK nothing new or sofisticated about it"
