A word from Aureole - Liberty Room
Charlie Palmer's signature Progressive American cuisine first took root in the original townhouse location of Aureole, where the chef made an early commitment to farm over factory food. Today, Aureole continues to shine at One Bryant Park under the kitchen leadership of Executive Chef Marcus Gleadow-Ware. Dining at the contemporary Aureole is staged in two venues: the formal dining room and more casual Liberty Room.

Designed with modern conviviality in mind, the smart, casual Liberty Room offers a la carte access to many selections that share the same style and ingredients as tasting menu dishes from the Dining Room. Enjoy a glass of wine al fresco and choose from our extensive list of roses and sparkling wines by the glass on The Patio.

Reservations can be made here for the Liberty Room only.

To be seated in the Dining Room, please visit the Aureole Dining Room.

Diner Reviews
  • "The cavatelli pasta had the perfect amount of creaminess, and the grilled chicken was so flavorful and tender. Thank you to the chef and attentive waitstaff for a wonderful dining experience."

  • "I made last minute pre-theater reservations based on reviews from Open Table. We were late for our reservation time due to tunnel traffic. After several frantic phone calls we were assured our table would be held. From the hostesses to the wait staff, everyone was attentive and pleasant. The food was very good, the Liberty Room was lovely and we would go back to try some of the other food selections."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "Convenient location and elegant setting. The place was empty on a Saturday night so the wait staff hovered, paced and interrupted conversation to fill water glasses. Food much less memorable than at previous visits. Ice cold gravlax, way too salty cod; more presentation than taste."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "Have always loved Aureole, but when we went to dinner on a Friday at 8, the place was virtually deserted. The food and service were excellent, yet there were literally only four tables seated in the liberty room. On one had it was nice and felt like we had the place to ourselves, but it would've been better if there was more life in the place during prime time."

  • "Worked out perfectly for pre theater. They asked us twice what time the show was beginning and they got us our wine, appetizer, and food in a timely but not rushed manner. Sea bass was very tastey. Salad a but salty but fresh. Asparagus soup was good but not stellar. Adequate wine selection. Entire experience worked very well."

  • "Whenever I'm heading for an evening at the theater, Aureole is my restaurant of choice to start the evening. The food, the service, the ambience are amazing. The staff is dedicated to make the customers happy. I truly recommend this restaurant for all foodies. You won't be disappointed!"

  • "Very noisy. Food just ok. Nothing real special. Not sure we would return. A bit overrated. Service was very good"

  • "The Liberty Room (really the Aureole Bar) has great food and service, and a world-class wine list. But I can't recommend it because the room is so unpleasant that it totally destroys the dining environment. I could overlook the coffee shop furniture. I could also live with the noise from the vibrant bar scene, which is amplified by all the uncovered hard surfaces. But nothing can make up for the pulsating glare of the huge LED sign across the street, which dominates the restaurant through a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. There's no escape from the glare, since pretty much all the tables are affected. Only a solo diner could eat with his back to the windows and elude the direct impact, but even then the glare would be distracting."

  • "Food and service were superb as always. The noise level was totally annoying however."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "Great restaurant for a business or theatre lunch if you plan to be in the Times Square area. But you have to be very specific with your server about what you want!"
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "Only bump is that there is an enormous screen outside the restaurant that shines light on and off which is incredibly distracting if you are facing the screen . Liberty room only. Food incredible!"

  • "What a find! My husband and I dined at Aureole prior to a show and had a wonderful experience! The food was excellent with a well-chosen prix-fixe menu for theater goers and wait-staff attentive to timing. We began with a tuna tartare, had a perfectly cooked steak and a sublime chocolate cake for dessert. The Liberty Room (the room you book through Open Table) is the bar room and was a tad noisy---by our standards---but it did not really impact our experience. We will definitely return here."

  • "Never disappoints! Consistently great food and service in the theatre district."
    Dined on 6/11/2014
  • "wow! that's some wine list. it was, like, 20 pages long. the waitstaff was super excellent."

  • "We had a party of 12 (6 at two tables) dining before the theater on a Saturday night. I selected this restaurant because I had a wonderful dinner there a year ago, it is in the theater district, and I have had several delicious dinners at other Charlie Palmer owned locations. Dinner was just so-so. I was so disappointed. Several people in our party ordered the steak dish on the pre-theater menu. It was tough, lots of gristle, and too salty. I had hoped it was going to be a high light of our trip, but sadly ... Not."

  • "truly lovely lunch. amazing space, great service, and unbelievable dessert!! "

  • "Despite the 42nd St location just off Broadway, Aureole - Liberty Room is a wonderful respite from the Times Square scene. The Sunday evening menu is both delicious and a great value. Will return. "

  • "6PM reservations assuming plenty of time to make our 8PM show. But because the service was slow, not bad just slow, could select from the dessert menu, which is suppose to be a trademark of this establishment. Food was good but the menu unexciting. Thye have 3 different eating areas and we would go back but try out the less formal seating."

  • "The prix-fixe menu was fine; others ordered a la carte. The service was great. We had no trouble getting to our play on time. The decor is modern, feels very spacious. I liked the agnolotti but my fish (salmon) needed a sauce."
    Dined on 5/31/2014
  • "We made reservation at the last minute because we had not made dinner plans for our first night in NYC. Could not have been luckier with our choice. Next time we are in the city, we will return to Aureole. "
    Dined on 5/30/2014
  • "From beginning to end this dining experience was great. we went after a show but it was mostly populated by pre-show guests, The service was impeccable. I had the duck breast for two that I shared with my daughhter. The best duck I ever had. Would definitely go back."

  • "Aureole's Liberty Room is simply wonderful. The food was exquisitely beautiful to look at and wonderful to taste. Service was prompt and friendly. My sister and partner had a great pre theater meal with my wife and me before we went next door to see Beautiful. I highly recommend the restaurant and the musical as both are winners."

  • "My husband and I dined in the Liberty Room of Aureole on a Sunday evening to specifically try the Big Mag Boeuf Sunday menu. We can not say enough wonderful things about our meal. Everything was delicious!! We highly recommend dining on a Sunday to take advantage of this menu offering. Not to be outdone, and the attentive service and warm atmosphere of the Liberty Room was top-notch. Thanks, Aureole for a wonderful dinner!"

  • "We have eaten at the Liberty Room and in the Dining Room at Aureole several times and have always had a good experience. The service is excellent and paced for your show time, the food is excellent and we can always find a new wine to try."

  • "This was my fourth time I'm Aureole and the first time in the Liberty Room. Strangely the dining room which was unavailable through the opentable was empty. The liberty room was half empty. The food and wine were both outstanding as usual. The salmon and the rhubarb terrine were particularly good. The service was slow however and the main course took 30 min to arrive. It seems that the Aureole is moving in the wrong direction. "

  • "our dining experience was excellent. just spent a week in new orleans and ate at all the best restaurants and my meal at aureole topped them all"

  • "Not finding any real difference other than the change of name. The service was uneven. I expect better from a restaurant of this caliber. We were three people. We shared two appetizers and then one entree designed for two, plus a third entree. The appetizers were presented with no serving utensils, nor did they offer to serve to us. We had to ask for utensils. I had to ask for my bread plate to be changed as I had to dump the insane amount of ice from the water onto it. They served one of the entrees but I had to ask them to serve both, otherwise they were not intending to help with that either. I suggested a wine for the host, which he liked. However when he finished his glass they took it away and did not ask if he wanted another! "

  • "Dinner in the bar room was spectacular. We were going to a concert so didn't need a full-course dinner in the restaurant. The pre-theater dinner had the best selections on the menu and we also ordered ala carte. The wine list was exceptional and the sommalier took alot of time to introduce us to their wines. She was very professional as she prepared the bottle for decanting as well. The food was outstanding and service was even better! The staff asked what time we needed to leave and were very attentive."

  • "Tables too close together detracted substantially from an otherwise excellent experience. Food is very good, room is beautiful, service professional and friendly, but our table for two was so close to the one next to us that their conversation could not help but hinder ours. Not the case with all tables but most of the 2-tops are way too close"

  • "We had an early dinner at Aureole's Bar before the show and could not have been happier. The three course dinner was perfect. From the asparagus salad to the NY strip and the creme brûlée with chocolate gelato, the entire meal was delicious and delightful. They have a very nice selection of wines by the glass and an impressively diverse wine list. The service was spot on and allowed for a relaxing meal while getting to the theater with plenty of time to spare. Aureoles is on the south side of The Sondheim Theater. Finding a good meal in Times Square can be challenging, but Aureoles is the exception and definitely worth a visit."

  • "Dined here recently. Native NYers who done out a lot. Go back to This restaurant when it was amazing and located in the 60's. Foud was lackluster...over done and served cold. Management seemed to be inexperienced. Won't be returning."

  • "I recommend Aureole for an excellent, upscale lunch. I got the lobster bisque which was oustanding. Our server was exceptional: helpful and knowledgeable."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "Great food in more casual environment. Particularly good place if dining alone. The food is top quality and the wine list has an excellent and varied selection. Really cannot go wrong with any dish on the menu. Salmon is as good as it gets."
    Dined on 4/8/2014
  • "I went here pre-theater and the appetizer was served right on time and then the entree came 30 minutes later. I asked the waitress and she said she realized that and had already inquired and that is should be out in 1-2 minutes. It came out about 8 minutes later. We had to rush through it and down dessert and then rush to the theater. I got the manager when after we had waited so long and he should of circled back around. It was disappointing to have to pay that and not enjoy the meal. They said we could come back after the show for dessert, but that wasn't an option for us at the time."

  • "Amazing food, very good location (near Times Square). highly recommended for couples and groups."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Had to watch advertisements on Big Screen across the street for entire meal. Very distracting. Only affects a few tables but if one is yours, watch out. They have a screen up on the windows, but it doesn't block it out. Wine by the glass is way overpriced."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "There was a problem with every course. They did not bring one of the appetizers until we pursued it, salmon sent back not cooked to request and served to wrong person. Coffee didn't come until after dessert and the check, when we were ready to leave. It was hard to get anyone to help us during the meal."
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "Went with family and loved it. 42nd Street location is BUSY! Came at reservation time and theater crowd was leaving...noise level was perfect after that. Everyone at our table got a different appetizer and entrée and all were great. Service and wine list were excellent. Bar Room dining experience was great!"
