A word from Aureole - Liberty Room
Charlie Palmer's signature Progressive American cuisine first took root in the original townhouse location of Aureole, where the chef made an early commitment to farm over factory food. Today, Aureole continues to shine at One Bryant Park under the kitchen leadership of Executive Chef Marcus Gleadow-Ware. Dining at the contemporary Aureole is staged in two venues: the formal dining room and more casual Liberty Room.


Designed with modern conviviality in mind, the smart, casual Liberty Room offers a la carte access to many selections that share the same style and ingredients as tasting menu dishes from the Dining Room. Enjoy a glass of wine al fresco and choose from our extensive list of roses and sparkling wines by the glass on The Patio.

  • "We ate at Aureole for a restaurant week dinner. The restaurant week menu was not meant to impress. The only part of the meal which was better than average was the chocolate cake. The biggest problem that I had was the intense noise from the bar. It was so loud that I could barely have a conversation with my husband across the table. The other thing is that the waiter did not seem to be available when needed. I would not go back and I would not recommend it to others."

It is a good thing the food was well prepared or I would have asked for a refund. TOO LOUD FOR DINNER. The liberty room is a bar scene at best. Such a disappointment."

  • "Four of us dining on Restaurant week were provided with the same menu for dinner at $38 that we could have gotten for lunch at $25. That could not be because the portions were larger at dinner, as except for the main course, the other courses were tiny. The roast chicken and the cod-fish cake were good. The vegetable risotto was watery and tasteless, and we left that over. The manager gave us a $14 credit when we mentioned this to the waiter. I refer to the gazpacho and (lack of) cinnamon flavored tiny fruit salad. The restaurant was over booked which accounted for the inability of the wait staff to addend to us well. The noise was so loud we and all around us were shouting to be heard. Restaurant Week is to intice returns. Not us."

The main courses that we relished was such a refresh for summer. The dessert, chocolate cake was extraordinarily rich and tasty but not overly done!   • "Started at the bar where the bartender ladies were not exactly friendly. Had to ask twice for a glass of water (had already ordered a glass of wine). When we were seated, we were told we were getting a nice side-by-side table. In reality we were facing a large pillar. The right thing to do would have been to show us the seating and ask if we were fine with it?!!! On the plus side the food was very very good. Not exceptional, but very good. Btw. Glass of wine at the bar came to $21 with tip and tax!"

  • "We had a great time at Aureole for restaurant week, but for a Michelin star restaurant, I think we are all a little underwhelmed. The food was great, the service was decent, the ambiance was very professional but casual. However, there was nothing truly exceptional about the experience. I found the restaurant week menu to be a significant downgrade from the normal menu. Although our experience wasn't a bad one, I do not think I will be returning to Aureole as I feel that there are plenty of better options in NYC to explore."

I was very excited to see that they participated in restaurantweek bit the restaurantweek menu was very disappointing. Chicken was undercooked the risotto was just a bad combination of beans. Maine it was my fault for picking an Italian dish in a French restaurant but why was that on the menu. I'm still hating myself for not eating from the regular menu it would've been $20-$30 more. I treated my coworkers there to show them what french foods all about and I was embarrassed to redeem myself now I have to take them to Daniel for xmas."

  • "Just another ok restaurant in ny trying to be a big deal with marketing rather than fresh original food. Dining room is ironically an old fashioned version of modern that just equals dreary. High point was the heirloom tomato gazpacho which was delicious but the fish cakes were ordinary at best and the slaw topping tasted like it was three days old. Chocolate cake tasted like boxed deli cake. Service was overly precious when when attendants were at the table but it seemed like hours passed between table visits. So many restaurants in ny these days seem to miss the point of being a good place to eat great food by trying create some pretentious 'experience' at the expense of just being a good restaurant."

Monday we went for a pre-theater, restaurant week, dinner, and I was really surprised by mediocrity of the meal. A pretty tasteless pasta appetizer followed a grilled chicken leg or really deeply fried fishcake. I don't know if it was simply because it was restaurant week, or whether they put the b-team on at night because they are catering the tourists at night (and local business people at lunch). Whatever the reason, I will not be going back for dinner, but will happily continue going for lunch."

We typically take candidates here because it's quiet enough to conduct a lunch interview. Service and food are typically impeccable; this time we didn't have the best service and I had to chase down the waiter a few times even though it was very slow by 2PM, but I'll chalk it up to a bad day. I'll definitely come back again."

  • "Aureole is by far the nicest restaurant I have dined in. It is quiet, has a lovely staff, and the food is amazing. They have an impressive wine list, as well as delicious cocktails. Everything we ate was delicious. We were able to take advantage of restaurant week and get a great deal on a three course meal. The appetizers were awesome, we got the gazpacho and the pasta. The entrees were even better, the summer risotto was delicious, the fishcakes were amazing, and the lemon chicken was to die for. Our desserts were also amazing, the chocolate cake was served with delicious hazelnuts and peanut butter ice cream, and the melons with sorbet were the perfect combo of sweet and tangy. Plan to spend here, but you will love it!"

After several frantic phone calls we were assured our table would be held. From the hostesses to the wait staff, everyone was attentive and pleasant. The food was very good, the Liberty Room was lovely and we would go back to try some of the other food selections."

  • "The Liberty Room (really the Aureole Bar) has great food and service, and a world-class wine list. But I can't recommend it because the room is so unpleasant that it totally destroys the dining environment. I could overlook the coffee shop furniture. I could also live with the noise from the vibrant bar scene, which is amplified by all the uncovered hard surfaces. But nothing can make up for the pulsating glare of the huge LED sign across the street, which dominates the restaurant through a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. There's no escape from the glare, since pretty much all the tables are affected. Only a solo diner could eat with his back to the windows and elude the direct impact, but even then the glare would be distracting."
