Aureole - Bar RoomGreat BurgerGreat Auerole Burger, with a dressing from Ramps! Very nice.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPre-theater diningWe came to Aureole between theater performances. Our waitress made a point to ask us if we had a show and what time in order to pace our dinner so that we did not feel rushed, but still left in time to get to the theater. The wine list is extensive...but the staff was able to offer several suggestions within our price range and our choice was wonderful. The pork chop was very good and the beef tenderloin was cooked exactly as ordered. Do not skip dessert here! The choices are creative; presentation is beautiful; the sticky toffee pudding was wonderful.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOn balance, it was all good.On balance, it was all good. The food was inventive and outstanding; the portions were small-ish but adequate. In fact, they were exactly the size we Americans should be eating. The service was smart and informed but harried. Everything started out very well. Then there was a very large lapse between appetizer and entree. We had reserved two hours before a curtain and found we were rushing through a dessert and coffee we asked them to hurry becuase we waited about 40 minutes between appetizer and entree. A blemish to an otherwise excellent dinner.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBusiness LunchGreat service, ideal for for business lunch, fast and efficient.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMHaving dined once in the mainHaving dined once in the main dining room, we chose the Bar Room, which offers an a la carte menu, plus a prix-fixe and is less expensive. Also, we wanted a quicker, pre-theatre dinner. Everything was good - food, service and decor.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a Good TimeReliable, fun place. I'm enslaved to their tuna tartar, which is presented differently over time. Current version was a big plate of excellent fish, small condiments mixed in. Also had a very fresh order of oysters. Mains were diver scallops, prepared with diced razor clams, red peppers, and zuchini; scallops were done just right. My friend had the beef tenderloin, which was very attractive to look at (served wtih asparagus tips and cubed fried potatoes in a sort of wreath); it must've tasted pretty good, but I don't know for sure because she didn't offer to share! With 2 cocktails, 2 red burgundies (glasses, not bottles) and a decadent stick toffee pudding dessert, bill came to $200, reasonable for what we had. Good food, good atmosphere6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for Pre-TheatreI had a friend coming to town and was treating her to a Broadway show. I wanted something that would not stress us for time. We had a nice dinner. The burger was great. And we had plenty of time. There was not much in the way of ambiance but the food and service was great. I would recommend it when you just want to eat before a show.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMUpscale after show mealWe wanted something light after a Broadway show and Aureole Bar Room was a spectacular choice. They seat until 11 pm - I think and have a great bar menu with a variety of options from $18 to $35 dollars. I had the burger and my wife the salad and we split the Tuna tartar app... Everything was excellent and will be back for sure.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent for après theaterExcellent for après theater appetizers. The Hudson fois gras and the carpaccio were heavenly. Will try it again for a full dinner.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBestThis restaurant always delivers. Great food and great service. Have never been disappointed.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA very enjoyable dinnerWent to Aureole for a Sunday Cote de Boeuf dinner - had a great time, enjoyed food and wine. Could not be more pleased!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWinning ComboNo decisions to make, just great côte de boeuf with fries and spinach, and lots of wine.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPre-FixeWe had Broadway tickets and the play started at 7PM. The staff asked if we were seeing a show and we indicated we needed to complete dinner by 6:30. We didn't feel rushed and the staff got us out at 6:30. Great staff and service.Great place for a pre-theatre dinner.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWood. Chrome. NYC Chic. Welcoming!Locals eat here. Went for a pre-show dinner early seating 5p. Professional staff, excellent food. Their fixe-prie dinner is perfect in time and taste if you are trying to make a 7p show on Broadway. We ate in the Bar Room where pricing is more affordable. I expected slightly less attention and quality. If so, then the dining room must be a wow! I had a medium rare sirloin with roasted potatoes and asparagus. Grilled to perfection. My first course was a green salad over quinoa (I want that recipe!) interesting flavors and paired well with my wine - Spanish flavors. Desert was chocolate and tasty, but unremarkable. The crust was a little tough to cut through with a fork, but heck it tasted sooo good that I forgave that small misstep.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAureole has a Sunday prixAureole has a Sunday prix fixe menu. It's a cote de boeuf for 2 with wine included for $49 per person. It was a delicious meal -- both the meat and the wine were superb -- and a great value. The Bar Room has the same menu as the dining room and has plenty of class in its own right.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, iffy serviceWe were a large party, but that's not an excuse for mediocre, inattentive service in a restaurant whose food was so great. We loved our meals. I had the salmon. Note that salmon portions are small for the price, and they really do not like to make vegetable substitutions. To me, the sign of a fine restaurant is when you make a request, their first response is "yes, let me see what we can do for you." Others had fettucine, loved it. Desserts were outstanding. Great food, eh service.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat before a showMy mother and I ate here before a show and had a wonderful dinner. The menu has a lot of variety. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious. I will definitely return on my next NYC trip.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA Bar Room quite enjoyableAs usual a most satisfactory experience before an enchanted evening at Broadway5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe cote de boeuf is excellent. The cote de boeuf is excellent. Highly recommend it!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood very good - service too slowWe ultimately had a good experience, but We had over 2 hours to eat before the theatre and we had to rush at the end. Our server was very pleasant, but the service was too slow. I had to as about both the appetizer and main courses.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAttentive service, delicious fareWe were offeredf seats in the lovely quiet Halo Room - a beautiful quiet sprace. Service was personable and attentive. We enjoyed the pre-theater menu with tuna tartare and steak. Both were exceptional. The desserts were beautiful, delicious, and just the right size.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodGreat, high quality food, a very extensive wine list, but the wine is expensive5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBravo!Had an early business dinner with four colleagues. We all opted for the pre-theatre 3-course fixe menu. Everybody was more than happy with their selections, though the two of us who chose the Fettucine starter had reason to feel more smug (mindblowingly good!). Excellent wine list covering most budgets. Overall, not cheap, but worth it given lack of quality in the Times Sq region.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for after theatrePerfect for after theatre drinks and dessert. Quiet and our desserts were delicious and picture perfect4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMgeweldig restaurantAs usual , great great food, relaxed ambiance, very good service !4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful to have a high end,Wonderful to have a high end, elegant dining experience in the Times Square area.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Sunday Night SupperMy colleague and I treated ourselves to a wonderful meal at Auerole. They did not disappoint. The Sunday night special supper was amazing. Wonderful beef (no steak knife needed) really decision fries, salad, and amazingly smooth red wine. The dessert was also incredible. Well worth the price.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had 3 appetizers and thenWe had 3 appetizers and then one main dish for 2 people. It was terrific. The scallops were wonderful!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMNot enough waitstaffThe food was delicious but we, a table of 5, sat before 6 and finished dinner at 7:15. We ordered dessert and coffee/drinks at 7:24, plenty of time before our show. Two of the three drinks had come before 7:45 along with the desserts but no coffee. We had to chug the remaining drink and send the coffee back, leaving half of the two quite expensive after dinner drinks there. The waitstaff was extremely overwhelmed whereas the bus staff was standing around, not knowing what to do, there were so many of them.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTheater District Best ShowIf I can cajole my visitors to spend a little more on their meal, it's the reward I get for seeing Mama Mia/Lion King/etc for the umpteenth time.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best Sunday Supper ever!As usual the service and food were spectacular! Big Mag Boeuf Sunday is a tremendous value and I'm sure will be a huge success.
I'm telling everybody!!!!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMPumpkin soup, olive-oil poachedPumpkin soup, olive-oil poached salmon and the sticky toffee pudding were exceptional!!Service was a bit slow due to almost the entire restaurant filled with theatre goers on the same schedule!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had THE BEST PUMPKIN SOUPWe had THE BEST PUMPKIN SOUP EVER!!!!!! But the portion was way too small for the price. The scallops were also excellent. I asked if the salmon tartare was at all spicy. The waiter said no but it had too much of a kick for me. I can't have ANY heat.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great near-times-squareWhat a great near-times-square find! Right on 42nd street, i would not have thought we would find such a lovely place - great bar, modern, excellent selections for appetizers and entrees. The butternut squash soup - with brussel sprouts in it! - was excellent. The scallop entree melts in your mouth.
Good by-the-glass wine selection and attentive but not hovering service. Very nice night and i would absolutely bring friends here again.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMElegantAs in the past, food was elegant and different, and service was always right there!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMfood is always unbelievable--light,food is always unbelievable--light, delicate, fresh, delicious. and desserts are a work of art.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I went for dinnerMy wife and I went for dinner before theatre and had a wonderful meal. My wife tried the chicken dish (not what I'd normally order at a nice restaurant) -- and it was without question the BEST chicken either of us had ever tasted! The bar room was comfortable and lively3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBAR with a restaurantit is more BAR than restaurant, which is fine as long as yu know what to expect. Extremely loud and very open. not condusive for intimate
conversation. Food was good and slightly high priced but top notch service and well made drinks made it a fine choice3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth a visitLove the decor of the bar area. Sat at the bar and had fair to good service. Not great service and lacked any warm welcome or normal interaction you get with most bartenders, but they got the job done. She did know one person sitting at the bar and spent the night talking to him or working the service bar. Everyone else (including us) had to flag her down.
DRINKS - cocktails made perfectly (but they shake everything to death watering down the recipe), great wines by the glass.
FOOD - delicious pumpkin soup, amazing bread, tasty burger, addictive fries, nice roasted veggie salad, great short rib pasta. The desserts in this place our OUTSTANDING ! Kudos to the pastry chef, highlight of the night.12/22/2012 12:00:00 AM
