They did not disappoint. The Sunday night special supper was amazing. Wonderful beef (no steak knife needed) really decision fries, salad, and amazingly smooth red wine. We ordered dessert and coffee/drinks at 7:24, plenty of time before our show. Two of the three drinks had come before 7:45 along with the desserts but no coffee. We had to chug the remaining drink and send the coffee back, leaving half of the two quite expensive after dinner drinks there. Right on 42nd street, i would not have thought we would find such a lovely place - great bar, modern, excellent selections for appetizers and entrees. The butternut squash soup - with brussel sprouts in it! - was excellent. The scallop entree melts in your mouth.
Good by-the-glass wine selection and attentive but not hovering service. My wife tried the chicken dish (not what I'd normally order at a nice restaurant) -- and it was without question the BEST chicken either of us had ever tasted! Sat at the bar and had fair to good service. Not great service and lacked any warm welcome or normal interaction you get with most bartenders, but they got the job done. She did know one person sitting at the bar and spent the night talking to him or working the service bar. Everyone else (including us) had to flag her down.
DRINKS - cocktails made perfectly (but they shake everything to death watering down the recipe), great wines by the glass.
FOOD - delicious pumpkin soup, amazing bread, tasty burger, addictive fries, nice roasted veggie salad, great short rib pasta. The desserts in this place our OUTSTANDING ! Kudos to the pastry chef, highlight of the night.12/22/2012 12:00:00 AM
