Diner Reviews
  • "This was a thoroughly fine dining experience, with a gorgeous view. The food was carefully created, creatively plated, and even the Chef himself came to say hello. It says a lot when the sides of an entree are as exciting as the protein itself! The Steelhead Trout is absolutely not-to-be-missed. The duck breast was the best I've had because it was sweet, light, and perfectly cooked. The deep fried sushi is an experience, and the desserts made it all worth it. Do not miss this restaurant."

  • "My wife and I went here for her birthday and right after checking in, they wished her a happy birthday. So from the start they were already showing good service. We had a nice table with a great view by the windows. It's too bad it was a bit cloudy that day. The waitress was very attentive and we didn't have to wait long for our appetizers or our main courses. We also asked her to take a few photos of us, which she did and jokingly referred to her as her "second job" there at the restaurant. The food was excellent and very artistically designed. In particular the lamb and chocolate brownie (not eaten at the same time, of course) were fantastic. All in all, I'd definitely recommend this place and I'm sure my wife and I will come back."

  • "The server was very attentive but got one of the orders incorrect. Overall the food was very good although the lamb was a bit tough. The presentation was outstanding though. Would definitely return for another special dinner."

  • "This was a perfect spot for my wife's birthday with a wonderful view across the harbour. It is a very romantic location. The food & service were both excellent with a vary varied menu."

  • "My wife and I had a late dinner. The service was great, as was the food. Salad dressing was fabulous."

  • "Happened upon Aura while planning a trip to Victoria. So glad we took the chance! The food was outstanding -- interesting ingredients without being overly exotic, and great presentation, with something on the menu for every taste or food preference. There were 3 in our party and we were pleased with every dish, from appetizers, through to mains and desserts. Fantastic BC wines. And the best oysters I've had anywhere. Service was equally outstanding. Highly recommend Aura and would definitely return."

  • "We went for appetizers and drinks and stayed for dinner. The chef and staff pulled off a memorable experience for our family that touched all the senses."

  • "That is the word that comes to mind when I think of the overall dining experience. From the moment we got there to the moment we left, I could not have had a better experience. (Except maybe ensuring all customer are out before you lock the doors.) The food is unbelievably delicious, and the plate presentation fantastic. Our server was exceptional. Gave us plenty of time, seemed to know just when to come around. If you live here, or are just visiting do yourself a "flavour" and experience great dining at Aura."

  • "Believe the reviewers Aura is a wonderful spot on Victoria's inner harbor. Outdoor patio affords nice views but come for the food- Well prepared and creative. Nice BC centric wine menu. Halibut and salmon dishes were both excellent. Desserts were beautiful creations and tasted as good as they looked. Recommended"

  • "We very much liked the dining room setting, the view of the outdoors, and the quiet ambience that allowed us to renew our friendship with our neighbours from Arizona. We intend to come back again in the near future, possibly with our oldest son, who introduced us to the Laurel Point Inn about 14 years ago."

  • "The food at Aura was very good! The duck dish was amazing and my husband really enjoyed the halibut. The flour-less brownie was a wonderful way to finish off our dining experience. We ordered drinks and said we'd wait to order our dinner. We thought our waitperson had forgotten about us as she didn't check in on us for a very long time! She was very nice but seemed a little timid to begin with."

  • "Our appetizers and soup were outstanding--very creative presentations and great flavor. However, some of our entrees must have gotten left on a warming tray--the halibut was just too dry to eat. The fortunate ones who ordered duck were very pleased. We had difficulty getting our waiters attention through the entire meal. That may have contributed to the dry fish. The location is interesting, in a hotel but on the harbor also an easy walk from both cruise pier or downtown."

  • "The service was attentive from start to finish. Food was presented beautifully and my husband is gluten free and they were very accommodating."

  • "Who could imagine wanting desert after fabulous halibut, chicken, duck and edamame quinoa falafel! But here it comes: uncooked cheesecake, pot au creme, and Summer Trio! From white leather to Simon, the staff photographer, AURA has it all.....Ask for TABLE 92 for the ultimate view and quiet ambience, and SIMON."

  • "Aura is exactly what you'd expect from a top restaurant with a great menu and great service. The patio dining on a clear evening in the summer can't be beat. Food choices were select and all well prepared and beautifully presented. The waiter was knowledgable, friendly, but not intrusive. The tables are not too close as to feel you are being overheard or crowding other diners. Can't think of a reason not to come here everytime we visit Victoria. Also for gluten free diners this was heaven as it had virtually everything on the menu that could be prepared wheat-free. A diner's delight."

  • "We were very impressed with both the food and the service at AURA. We ate there for breakfast, lunch and dinner during our stay in Victoria, and all meals were excellent. The presentation of the food is beautiful and very well thought out, and the sauces accompanying the dinner dishes were amazing. The desserts are excellent, also. Very happy and surprised to find such a great restaurant at our hotel."

  • "I love the presentation and the taste of food plus great view of the inner harbor. The only thing I didn't like is the slow service. It took us almost 3 hours in the restaurant and took almost our whole time in there."

  • "All around great resto. it was a birthday lunch and we were treated very well, even after asking to change tables - twice! Food was inventive and delicious. Staff was attentive, gracious and well trained in how to serve a table. Aura is elegant yet somehow west coast casual at the same time. Other diners were also having a great time and left with smiles. Oysters were fresh and scrumptious. Also try the calamari and deep fried sushi. Yum! Everyone cleaned their plates. Service was outstanding. All our requests were met with a smile and a "sure, no problem." We were even served two complimentary drinks when the waiter could not serve two underage members of our party. All in all, a great choice. We reccommend it."

  • "We arrived on time after it taking 2 hours to get there as we were coming by ferry. My son and his wife also traveled that long as we were meeting for Father's day. We were told by the young woman atthe door that she had called this morning to tell us they did not have a table, although we had received a note from OT that our reservation was fine. We had already left for the ferry when they called. They argued and then finally seated us near a clean up station after a wait. The food overall was all right and they did try to be gracious. It was not what I had expected after many years of using OT on the East Coast."

  • "...we go to Aura. Service is always excellent, and the food memorable. We started with a cheese plate, and it was possibly the best such arrangement of fruit, cheese and fine crackers I'd ever had. The staff is very friendly, and accommodated us and our 3 month old baby marvellously."

  • "We were expecting a fantastic view but this was obstructed by a tree. Perhaps we were sitting in the wrong place which was right by the entrance. Maybe ask for a view table if that is what you are looking for. Food and service were fantastic. Lacked a bit of atmosphere."

  • "I used to live in Victoria and alwas dimmed on the other side of water. This is a terrific spot with adjacent harbour view with much less traffic .. Easy valet service, we were in a bit of a hurry and jumped directly into entree's with a couple glasses of wine. My wife's a vegetarian and she loved her dish. I had beef tenderloin which was wonderful with a contemporary twist. Very flavourful .. Rather than just a slab of steak. If your looking for something artistic in a dish, this is your Victoria spot. And I always thought there was no fine dinning in this city .."

  • "First time at Aura. Had heard good buzz. Wife took me there for my 64th birthday. Scallops and Deep Fried Sushi were our starters. Both very tasty. We each had the six ounce beef loin. Don't eat a lot of red meat anymore. Can't remember a better steak dinner. We shared a dessert, apple crumble with rosemary infused ice cream(!). It was unbelievably good. All told, a very creative and delicious dinner. The ambiance, otoh, was a bit more downscale than we hoped. Not shabby by any means but hardly intimate or romantic. A group of young louts at the next table drinking and cursing didn't help matters. Well, it is a hotel after all so that's the way it goes, I suppose. All things considered, we'd definitely return to Aura for a great meal."

  • "Our dinner was superb with my wife having the pork tenderloin and I the duck. First rate, cooked to perfection. Our view of Victorias outer harbour made this a very romantic dinner for us, along with the top notch service from our waiter. Highly recommend. This was my second outing to this restaurant, having eaten here with my colleagues 3 years earlier (also outstanding)"

  • "We were told this was a fabulous restaurant and a must when staying at the Inn. Overall we were quite disappointed and would not eat here again. The food was unseasoned (and no salt or pepper available to help), steak overcooked, trout smelled and tasted extremely fishy (making everything else on the plate taste and smell fishy). We ate our plates because we were hungry, but not because we enjoyed eating them. There was nothing on the plate that made me say "yum" or want to eat there again. We did get breakfast delivered to our rooms and it was OK, kind of hard to mess up breakfast, although they missed part of the order while still charging us. While the Inn was fabulous, the restaurant was a huge let down."

  • "Nice location right on the water and had a great table for dinner. Service was a bit all over the place. Server did not know anything about wines and when asked she went to see a her mgr and forgot why she went and just brought the bottle even though we were still wondering if we should get it or not. Service was slow too and a bit scattered. Food was very good and quite enjoyed the dishes although too bad that most of the meals were served with mushrooms which a few of us did not really like so it limited what we could order."

  • "I am new to Victoria and wanted a restaurant with amibiance for my Mother's birthday lunch. The location was lovely with the view of the harbour but the menu was small and although we arrived at 12:30 it only offered brunch, no dessert. Service was OK."

  • "This is one of the best restaurants in Victoria. Excellent service. Interesting food, beautifully presented. I love small plates which allow us to try several dishes. Given the high standards, the price was reasonable. And for once we could hear one another because there was no loud music. And to top it off there is a million dollar view of the harbour."

  • "We were just desiring a quiet lunch together, with a view, nearby and really had a pleasant time. Staff were there but not intrusive, lunch was tasty, well priced, good service time, , table reserved by Internet. We will definitely be back ....we enjoyed ourselves. Thanks!"

Food is awesome & beautifully presented They make a great burnt martini Love their oyster selection It is intimate by the view tables. The patio is lovely on calm days One can walk the promenade before or after the meal to enjoy Victoria harbour"

  • "I took my wife Susan out to Aura for her birthday. The staff were very attentive during our dinner and were very accommodating in setting up the table with a great view of the inner harbour. I was very pleased with all the attention and service from when I first mentioned the special dinner I had planned. The food was excellent as well. A truly satisfying experience."

  • "The views were superb, but the price was too high. Ordinary breakfast fare, my fruit salad accompanying my crab cake eggs Benedict was minuscule and undeserving of the name 'salad'. Poor coffee, not worth $4 price tag. Will not be back. Wait staff slammed drawers at service counter behind us."

  • "My wife and I got married at the Laurel Point hotel here last summer and I booked a dinner at the restaurant to celebrate her birthday. The views and setting during dinner were spectacular and very romantic. The food was far beyond our expectations and the service was over the top! We would highly recommend Aura restaurant for a local & memorable.dining experience."
