When we came in we were greeted with 2 smiling ladies and upbeat attitudes. Mary Beth told us the Specials and was able to describe them perfectly. She also checked back numerous times for Service needs. Our Supper was Great; in Quality and Service! When coming to Fredericksburg for Supper it's my first pick. It's good to watch the Staff work together with delivering meals to each table weather it was there table or not. The Menu is well thought out and offers plenty of diversity of selections.Congrats to the Chef!

Was told that the place was pricy before we went, and indeed it was. However, I TOTALLY do not mind paying $40+ for a great steak. However, on this night, we were told that the special was Akaushi Beef Strip for $65. Excited to try this, I quickly ordered. My wife order the Duck two ways. The duck was well prepared, and tasty. It was cooked exactly as ordered (med rare), However, it was TOTALLY not a 65 dollar steak. It had good flavor, but for $65 should of been able to cut with a fork. It was not even what I could consider tender. August E's advertises a high end restaraunt, However, the ambience is poor (it is just a room with 4 walls, wharehouse lights, and paintings) very drab.despite the dissapointment, the Crème brûlée was awesome.

Long wait between courses, a side of asparagus was ordered and never arrived. Lobster bisque needed salt. Crab cake was adequate, side salad nicely dressed. Marscapone mashed potatoes were excellent. Pumpkin cheesecake and creme brulee were worth the long wait.

I've been told the downtown location is not the original location and while it was very convenient I was underwhelmed upon walking into the restaurant. It had an unpleasant smell and had an open/ware-housy feel to it. We went a day before our 10th anniversary, and even though I notified them on our reservation nothing was said about it by either our hostess or waiter. Though this wasn't crushing it's worth noting for those with special occasions (Cabernet Grill on the other hand did make note). Anyway, the place was fairly empty (again a Thursday night). The wine menu was huge and not for rookies (we are). The pork chop, mignon, quail and deserts were excellent. However, the lobster tail was rubber and the crab didn't seem fresh.

Overall, great food. Scallops were delicious and so was the filet. Risotto was slightly undercooked and that would be my only complaint. Great place for more of an upscale dinner in Fredericksburg.

We went to August E's late Friday night. The restaurant was not crowded yet the service was slow. Our waiter was good and attentive however the gap between courses was long. I would expect it to be worse if the restaurant was busy. The food was decent, especially the steak.

Nice place. Good food. I was a little annoyed that they were out of the two items on the menu that I thought were reasonably priced (the new York strip my first choice for $41, and the Pork chop my second choice for $25) were both sold out at 7:15pm. Then my only other choice for steak were $80 and $65. I'm sure they were probably great choices, but a little pricey for my budget. I ended up going with the "off the menu" choice of sea scallopes. Which was good, but not really what I was in the mood for. I understand sometimes restaurants run out of things, but really, the first two items on your menu and it's only 7:15 on a Saturday?

Our experience at August E's was great! We were in Fredericksburg celebrating our "Mini Moon" the staff was fantastic! Our server was super sweet, and the hostess who I believe was the owner made us feel very welcomed. The only negative comment we have would be our lobster tails were cold and mine tasted a little over cooked.

After we refused to be seated in the overflow/back room and made our way to the main dining room (which was 90% empty at the time), everything was fine. The Thanksgiving meal selection we made was delightful, particularly the sweet potato pastry. Service was good on a very busy day. Probably will go back again to further explore their menu.

My girlfriend and I decided to check out August E's for an early dinner. We knew going in it was going to be expensive given the $$$'s on Open Table. However, I was literally shocked at the price of two items, both of which in restrospect we should have asked about, but which even by NYC standards, were priced on the high side. One of our entrees, though good, was the the highest price entree I ever remember purchasing. It was a Seafood Soup (Cioppino), so I assumed it would be priced close to my rack of lamb, which was $36, but instead was $49. To it's credit, the soup was full of seafood including some lobster, but Grey Goose martinis were $16 as well. Bottom line is this was a nice meal at a nice restaurant, but a bit overpriced.

Our waiter was great! He was so attentive to everything we needed. I think his name was Luis. For appetizers, I had the lobster bisque, which I have had better. My husband had the wedge which was excellent. The flavor was great without the blue cheese taking over. For dinner, we both had the specials. I had the scallops which were buttery and amazing with an egg sauce that was to die for. He had the seafood soup that was ridiculously over priced ($49 for soup?), but good, not amazing. We didn't have room for dessert.

Food is overpriced if you consider the location (small town TX) and the type/portion you're getting. I would recommend this for special occasion type of dinner because the service was in fact wonderful. We love upscale restaurants but I wouldn't consider this upscale other than the price is upscale. We also didn't like the artwork. It simply didn't match the restaurants image. The Native American painting are too scary looking and unappetizing.
