  • "Though I was disappointed with the pork belly and did not eat half of it. The vegetables were very good. The wife's prime rib was thick and cooked perfectly. The service was top notch, but then there was only one other tabe seated. Being at the Ritz-Carlton is the only reason to visit in my opinion. We passed by Rod Stewart in the bar on our way to our table."

Every staff member I came in contact with was super friendly and everything we had eaten was simply delicious and amazing! Bravo to all the talented chefs both savory and especially pastry, which is always my favorite part of the meal!!! A special thank you to our waiter, Zaheer, who did not hesitate to get us everything we needed to have a wonderful experience from beginning to the end. He truly is excellent at his job.   • "overall great pick to try out restaurant week and to celebrate a birthday, with it being inside the ritz Carlton hotel across from Central Park. Good menu selections and all 3 courses hit the spot. Our group was beyond satisfied especially with great service who kept us entertained. My friends and I all left on a happy note making it an unforgettable evening. But just one gripe that prices for even soft drinks were ridiculous given the amount; other than no complaints."

As pleasing as a giant thing of ice cream sundae is to the eyes, I hated not being able to finish it and waste it. It was my first time at the Ritz in NYC and I expected a little more with the decor or ambience. It just felt like dinning in someone's study, not really fancy of chic. A bit cozy I guess. But the service was Ritz quality."

  • "Incredibly average food and when the check arrived, the 2 regular American coffees we ordered cost $20 - that's right - $10 for a regular cup of coffee. I have eaten in some of the finest and most expensive restaurants in New York (of which Auden is neither), and have NEVER seen a $10 charge for a regular cup of coffee - it's just tacky and classless- the coffee wasn't even hot. On the subject of tacky and classless - an 18% gratuity is automatically added to your check (regardless of party size) and they still leave a tip line - it looks like an unseemly attempt to trick unsuspecting tourists into double tipping. I would NEVER eat at Auden again. Thoroughly disappointed and quite disgusted."

  • "WOW! This restaurant was an experience to say the least. I came here with my girlfriend during NYC restuarant week and its hands down the best restaurant we've ever been to. Our waiter was kind and helpful and the food was exquisite. If you are looking for a really nice place to go for a special event look no further. (Ordinarily pricey). We had the tomato soup as an appetizer. A pretty rich soup for an appetizer well complimented by the bread that comes with it. Our waiter also split our food for us in the kitchen! For our lunch we had the burger.Cooked perfectly with an incredibly delicious gravy and homemade ketchup that just made my day. Peach cobbler for dessert was equally amazing. We had a great time and will hopefully be back soon!"

  • "We were looking forward to going to Auden after we attended an Irish dinner there, interpreted by Chef Marc. At that dinner, everything was great - so we took friends from out-of-town to Auden. Chef Marc had gone home early, and there were only about 3 bookings in the whole place. So the service was polite, but inexplicably slow. We ordered a wine, and it took a long time before the wine steward came back to say he was out of it. He made a suggestion for a substitute, but couldn't find the price on the wine list. Eventually we agreed that he would charge as for the first wine that we had wanted. We agreed, and it was a further 15 minutes before that wine arrived. It also took a long time to place our order, and even longer to get it."

  • "I went with two colleagues for a mid-week Restaurant Week dinner, and each of us ordered a different one of the three appetizers, main dishes, and desserts. The choices were uniformly excellent (steak, fish, and duck) plus the portions were clearly the same size as their non-Restaurant Week dishes. It's a little hard to find (go into the Ritz and ask, they no longer have a door leading directly out to the street) which undoubtedly was helpful with regard to the noise level -- we had the whole place almost to ourselves! But even if that weren't true, there's enough distance between tables -- with very soundproof windows facing CPS and Central Park -- that I suspect it's fine on any night. Elegant but not ridiculously stuffy. Kudos!"

Both that lunch, and a previous dinner would have beed double the cost, but for restaurant week, as the dishes were the same, including the same generous portions, as in their regular al a carte menu. The flat-bread and salad appetizers were very good, the steak was full sized, tender and delicious, the hamburger with cheddar cheese and mushrooms was among the best I tasted. the pear tart and the chess cake with flamed top, candied chestnut, both the ice cream, were wonderful. I will be back (next RW)."

  • "I had been waiting to dine at Auden for Restaurant week for years and FINALLY it joined this year. It was everything I wanted it to be. The duck was prepared perfectly, medium and tender with a lot of flavor. The olive oil ice cream was amazing. That perfect blend of sweet and creamy and salty. The only thing bad I can say is the Chocolate Ganache cake it was served with was a bot on the dry side as if it had been frozen. But overall my sweet tooth was very satisfied. Great wine pairing choices as well. The hostess was gracious and the staff were attentive but not intrusive. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Went here for Restaurant Week Sunday lunch. I had the quinoa salad (excellent), crab capellini (fair), and the chocolate ganache (excellent). I also tried the flatbread appetizer, the steak entree, and the fruit tart dessert, all of which were excellent. The prix-fixe is definitely worth it as the steak entree is already $33 on the regular menu. Service is friendly and relaxed. The place is small and nice."

  • "We enjoyed a meal here on a Restaurant Week menu and were very impressed. No trimmed down offerings and serving sizes to match the $38 price tag -- just standard portions of exceptional food. The mussels appetizer was a very healthy portion (the broth was perhaps a touch to spicy but enjoyable nonetheless). The fillet (I'm guessing 8oz ) was delicious. Desert was tasty riff on ginger and cheesecake - plus the waiter brought an additional chocolate desert selection to the table free of charge. Auden's clearly wanted to use Restaurant Week to draw in and secure new diners. It worked -- we'll definitely be back."

  • "I took my mother here for Restaurant Week, and while the thought of dining at the Ritz was exciting, it was a bit intimidating at first. However, the hostess was probably one of the best hostesses I've ever met and she immediately made us feel comfortable. The food was great too! All of it was really stellar, but a highlight was that as a duck connoisseur, my mother mentioned that the duck was probably the best she's ever had, and the cherry sauce was just divine. The desserts were the perfect end to a delicious meal (and the chef threw in a few complimentary bites). Throughout the night the service was great, but as the night went on it took a long time to get our check and at first they gave us the wrong one! Overall, great experience."

  • "At least on Restaurant Week, we had the pleasure of 5-Star hotel dinning. The selections and the portions were as generous as year-round. Even a generous portion of fresh mussels was a choice for appetizer, and filet minon was an entrée choice, with not added supplement. You cannot get that anywhere else. The service was attentive and the atmosphere was such that you wanted to stay the night. I suspect that a special effort was made in the restaurant because The Ritz-Carlton Hotel is 5-stars. I recommend it unconditionally,"

  • "Very much an upscale dining experience, so everyone did all of the things and said all of the things they were supposed to when you're dining at the Ritz. When we were there it was Restaurant Week for lunch and happily, we weren't treated any differently for it. The food was very good, not the best but very tasty. The cheescake portion was surprisingly large. Wine pairings were decent, but the first one couldn't really stand up to the seasonal salad. All in all it was a nice time, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get there. My friend had the burger which looked nicer than it tasted, but was still a pretty good one. And I had the Blue Crab Cappelini, which was coated in a light tomato sauce, which was nice and tasty."

  • "Went for a biz lunch, and it took almost an hour for the food to arrive. My steak was good, and my guests quinoa salad was excellent (I was told). There was also a woman listening to music on her phone a few tables away which was slightly distracting, wait staff should've been on top of that. Place was deserted, quiet (besides the phone lady), and comfortable seating (so otherwise good place for a biz lunch)."

We should have realized something when we showed up and with us there were only 9 patrons total in a restaurant that has space for 70-80. The chef has no idea what he is doing.   • "I dined here with my daughter for her 16th Birthday. We were greeted with a warm smile by the hostess and seated at a very cozy round booth by a window, which gave us a view of the whole room and outside. We ordered the mussels and fois gras slider as our appetizer, which were amazing! My daughter got the filet, it had a bone marrow and horseradish crust which gave it the most interesting flavor. The chef really puts thought into his menu. Even with all the fish options (monkfish, salmon, cod) I opted for the pork chop. Another excellent dish full of flavors that compliment each other. After our meal, the server brought us a cheesecake with a candle and Birthday message. This was an excellent meal complimented by great service."

  • "I love french toast. When ever I visit a city, I try all different types of it. Well, do not order it at the Auden (Inside the Ritz). The French toast from here was just nasty, it tasted like a rag, it was not sweet, dispute being in a bed of carmel sauce. When I asked the waiter about it, I was told that is they way they cook it. I know this is the Ritz and NYC, but they charged me $8.00 for a glass of diet coke. Not even the waldorf charges that much. (BTW, so far the best french toast I have found is from the Ritz Carlton in Chicago) If you go, don't get the French Toast."

  • "Way overpriced for what essentially amounts to a hotel restaurant. The space is sterile and very underwhelming. The service is earnest if not totally competent. The hostess was not really up to the task and was absent the few times we actually needed her. Our appetizers and dessert were tasty but our fish entrees were over-salted and mediocre at best. If the food cost half as much I would return. However, Marea is only a few blocks away, not significantly more expensive and at least two notches above when it comes to food and maybe more when it comes to ambience. That's probably why it was basically empty at 9pm on a Saturday night."
