Auberge du SoleilAn Anniversary to RememberMy wife and I decided to celebrate our 45th anniversary with lunch at the Auberge du Soleil last Week. Seated at the very edge of the shaded outdoor terrace in 83 degree weather, we were set for a great afternoon. We had beautifully prepared and presented entrees which were well worth the price. It was hard to choose pairings from the extensive wine list (wine iPad), but our excellent and knowledgeable server (Paul) helped with the perfect recommendations for our courses. To finish, Paul surprised us with a special presentation of our desserts (yes, we "leaked" that this was a special occasion, but it was much classier than the typically simple candle-in-a-cake). All-in-all, a day well spent!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is always innovative, absolThe food is always innovative, absolutely fresh, visually beautiful, and delicious. The staff is unobtrusively attentive. We're so glad to have access to such fine dining.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrace ViewThe food is exquisitely plated, the portions are perfect, and the view from the terrace is breathtaking. We loved the entire experience..6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing!First off, the view on the outdoor patio/deck was gorgeous. There are heaters above the tables in case you get chilly. The wine list was quite extensive and for anyone needing help navigating it, their Sommelier was very eager to help with suggestions. The chef sent out quite a few little surprises throughout the dinner, all of which were very tasty. From the first taste through the last bite of dessert, the meal was just incredible. Truly one of the best, and most memorable, dining experiences I've enjoyed.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the price for the view!If you enjoy dinner with an amazing view, this is the place! Loved the smaller portions and the artistic flair. Excellent wine list... This restaurant could be a little overwhelming to inexperienced diners and I don't think it is really small child friendly. (If you are paying $350 for a dinner for two, trust me, you don't want to deal with a crying child or one that is let loose on the deck. Parents, leave the kids at home and enjoy this magnificent dining experience on your own.)6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMUnforgettable Experience!Forget French Laundry. If you are looking for the ultimate wine country meal, Auberge du Soleil is the place to splurge. As Napa locals, we have eaten at both - and both offer the best culinary experience around, bar none. The difference - and it is a huge difference - is the view at Auberge. It is breathtaking. Views of the hills and vineyards below are truly magnificent. The food, too, is fantastic. Auberge offers a few types of prix fixe menus, depending on your interest and appetite. There are amuse bouches offered between courses to cleanse the palate and tease your taste buds. Unusual flavor combinations surprised and delighted us at every course. The service is impeccable. Without a doubt, this is a "bucket list" experience!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat hotel and great restaurantI've been here twice now, and it never disappointment. My husband and I both had the lobster omelete and it was done a la fraincaise with puffy egg whites folded into the yolk. Marvelous!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe view was absolutely breathtakinThe view was absolutely breathtaking!!! I had the lamb tartare and the scallops and I could not be happier with the selection. The service was friendly and impeccable
It was simply memorable!!! Looking forward to coming back!!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMJust awesomeIt was everything U expected and more. Definitely coming back whenever we're in Napa.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ExperienceThe view was gorgeous, the food delicious, the service impeccable, and the chocolate dumplings were so good we ordered a second plate. A high point of our trip to Napa, and definitely someplace we will return to.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMMarvelousLook no further if you want to share an exceptional dining experience with family or friends. It is the best.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMNear perfectionEven though it was a cloudy overcast day, the view was amazing. Our server, Michael, was perfect in helping my wife and I ring in our first anniversary. I'd say the food was more than 4 stars, at about 4.5, but just short of five. Why just short? One of my wife's entrees came in a tad oversalted (the onion crusted Halibut). However, the final courses left us wanting to go back (cheese plate and coconut angel food cake with blueberries and lime sherbet, finished off with some house made candies). Hope to be back at this place sooner than later not only for the restaurant, but the hotel is absolutely stunning.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMVisited after 19 years! We ate at ADS 19 years ago, a few years after it had opened up! Although the outside seating/heaters were different this time, the main character and ambiance was the same! Unfortunately our recent visit was on a rainy foggy night so we did not enjoy the beautiful scenery of the vineyards, but the great smell of fresh sir and fantastic food adored our scenes!
Our waitress was absolutely delightful, we had a very comfortable, relaxed, and enjoyable experience!!
Our meal was incredibly delicious, the portions just perfect!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorableProfessional but friendly service. Fantastic view of the Napa Valley. Four people with three courses each, and everyone raved about every dish.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Brunch in NapaThere is nothing that could have topped the experience we had here for brunch. Everything from the view, to the service, to the food was exceptional! We will be back here again very soon!!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe view is amazing. MakeThe view is amazing. Make sure you get an outside table. The service was fantastic. Very attentive without being smothering.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAuberge du SolielAmazing food, excellent service and an unbelievable view! An amazing, romantic evening!! Worth every penny!!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Perfect DinnerAbsolutely perfect! The patio offers the best view in Napa Valley. The food was second to none, with many little amuses sent out by wonderful chefs. The wine list is extensive and awesome. Service was impecable. We could not have had a better experience.
Even my 80 year old mother, daughter of the depression, forgot the prices and thoroughly enjoyed herself.
Best meal of our lives!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTuscany in Napa ValleyAuberge never never disappointes me or any of my guests!! Professional and friendly service, creative food along with old standards, great wine list along with creative cocktails - including a spectacular view down the valley!! Should the weather be uncomforable (rare) - the inside is most comfortable, cozy and romantic!!! I will be back with more guests. Never been disappointed!!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful Location for a mealThe view from our outdoor table at Auberge du Soleil was amazing. What made it even better was the gradual sunset that took place during our meal. Best to make your reservations 2 hours before the sunset and you will be well rewarded with the kaleidoscope of sky colours.
However, we found the food to be underwhelming; we could not taste any excitement / curiosity / adventure in the dishes. Came off as rather safe and bland.
Nonetheless, a great place to dine at in Napa Valley.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday brunchSetting/view, ambiance, attention to detail of servers was lovely. We were a little bit short in time and they accommodated us easily. The food was presented beautifully, staff friendly, view amazing. Price point r
Very reasonable. $58 pp for full brunch incl drin. We would go back again.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat by any standardAuberge is a terrific restaurant on all levels. It is in a beautiful location in the Napa Valley and if you get a seat outside the views are spectacular. Service is great - enough, but not too much, attention by knowledgeable staff. The food is the star, of course, and the food here is beautifully prepared to really focus on the flavor of the main ingredient of the dish. No trace of Molecular Gastronomy or other over manipulation of the natural ingredients. I enjoy MG well enough, but it is nice to have food classically prepared and delicious with minimal intervention.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWell done!!!We travel extensively and even though Auberge came with good recommendations we were still pleasantly surprised in every respect5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!!We went here to celebrate our three year wedding anniversary and had an absolutely fabulous experience! The good was outstanding the service was great and the view from our table on the balcony was breathtaking. I highly highly recommend this great place!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing!Truly a top-knotch restaurant. The food was exotic but not unfamiliar so it was easy to choose. The wine list is extensive and the sommelier is always nearby and willing to make a suggestion. You also have the option of paying extra for a pairing. The ambience is unforgettable. An incredible experience all-around.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI love Auberge-the staff isI love Auberge-the staff is over the top kind and attentive-manager-are you listening? The view-to die for. The food-well, I WANT it to be spectacular, but it is not. We had asparagus soup-outstanding. A beet salad-very nice. Our entrees-the sole-a bit dry, with a few scattered vegetables. I understand this is how it is done-but the presentation was lacking, and the veges, were, well, dry and overcooked. My 39.00 lobster salad-we were there for lunch-a good amount of lobster-impressive-but really...handfuls of cut Napa cabbage in a forgettable dressing-I am not a food critic, and really, easy to please. I was there with my 99 year old Mom who requested Auberge-as she loved it before. But, expectations from othere may or may not be met.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding experience! My wife and I had our 25th Anniversary dinner here last week and it was a wonderful overall experience! Our server was great. The view was amazing. The food was over the top! We brought our own 2002 Silver Oak that I purchased at Silver Oak that afternoon and they happily decanted it for a small corkage fee. We did enjoy nice Champagne service while the wine was decanting...
For a special occasion or you just want a relaxing amazing dinner with a view, we highly recommend the terrace at Auberge.
Worth every penny!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful porch and viewIf there was anything more lovely than the presentation of the food on the place, it was the view over the valley in the late afternoon. The food was excellent and wine options extensive. Not sure why there aren't more local options on the wine list which seems about 50% non-US in the best wine area of the country.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is one of the loveliestThis is one of the loveliest spots to dine in the wine country. Good is always top notch, and you can't beat the experience and view of dining on the deck.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredibleVery expensive but attention to detail was impressive. The incredible view from the deck was like a "picture post card".5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMJust exceptional...The most spectacular place where I have been...
As well, kitchen, wine list and service rise to expectations..
Don't really know if it is classified with Michelin stars, but it does
absolutelly deserves 2*.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAuberge du Soliel producesAuberge du Soliel produces creative faire in a senic location overlooking the Napa Valley. The service is friendly and knowledgible; but at $150 to $200 per person (including tip), the restaurant is over priced. We do not mind paying for a superior dinning experience, and have done so happily on many occassions. However, with respect to Auberge du Soliel, we have had better food for half the price.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for a specialGreat place for a special occasion, the food, the service and the location are all superior!
While this is a very pricy meal everything was fabulous5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb cuisine with a view of NapaWe had a lovely Sunday brunch. The food was wonderful, the service attentive but not intrusive, and the location spectacular. I don't know of another place to dine in the Napa Valley area that has such a wonderful view. We will return.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful BrunchAmazing view. Excellent brunch menu. The bloody mary was one of the best I've ever had. My wife loved her asparagus soup with dungeness crab and the duck confit hash. I really enjoyed the onion tartelette with smoked salmon and creme fraiche. My kurobuta pork chop with sunchokes was tender and flavorful. The staff was very polite and attentive. Reserve ahead of time and request outdoor seating on their covered patio to fully enjoy the vista.
If not for us having eaten lunch at The French Laundry the day prior, this may have been a 5-star review. Quite honestly, it was a 4.5 star experience. We'd definitely come back!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGO!The food outstanding, the wine list extensive and impecable, the view to die for, the service is the example other restuarants should follow! If you haven't been go! If you have, go again! The chef's selections and the wine pairings are fabulous.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAgain and againWith numbers of reviews I have written for this place, I have not much more to say other than "they did it again".5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for a splurgeThe Auberge du Soleil offers refined food and service at a very high level - and cost. It's a special occasion restaurant, with a knowledgeable staff and food that is both tasty and elegantly prepared.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial Birthday Luncheon 2 FriendsHad a spectacular lunch. Asparagus soup and English pea risotto with Hooper shrimp was the best I have ever had. Rest of the table had equally as excellent meals-- onion crusted halibut, and porch chop. Would highly recommend the Dumol Chardonny!!, Staff were also excellent. We will return for the next special event which should be soon as you can always find a special event to celebrate!!!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat as expectedThirty years ago i took my Gf to Auberge for graduation dinner. 5 years later i took her for a post honeymoon luncheon. This weekend was a 25th anniversary treat.
We have, of course, attended in the meanwhile.
Still the go-to spot for special occasions and always exceeds expectations.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLasting MemoryI want to thank the entire staff of Auberge du Soleil for an amazing dining experience and a very special birthday memory for my husband. My husband didn't want to do anything special for his 74th birthday so I decided to suprise him with lunch for just the two of us at Auberge. I expected a nice experience but what we got instead was a wonderful memory. The entire staff treated my husband like a king and his every request was met with a smile and but of course. If you want to have a really special experience for a loved one this is the place!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible view. Food doesn'tIncredible view. Food doesn't match. Just OK. The service was impeccable, with excellent food and wine pairings. Our server Kathy was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. She took the dining experience to the next level for us. We also really appreciated never feeling rushed to finish our meal.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMJust had a wonderful experienceJust had a wonderful experience at this fine restaurant last Friday. It's in an absolutely gorgeous setting, that along with the perfect weather made our outdoor dining experience amazing. The gist of the menu is that you can order a 3,4,or 5 course chef's menu..there is no a la carte. My wife and I decided to order one 3 and one 4 course, splitting the extra among us. We enjoyed everything we ate, though my steak was a little tough...cooked beautifully, but it couldn't save the texture of the cut they served me. We also had poached lobster and hamachi (amazing). Cheese plate was a nice selection, but if you like chocolate, then you have to eat the dumplings..4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWorld class dining in Napa ValleyWorld class dining in a beautiful setting. Wait staff was helpful, efficient, and friendly. View is spectacular! Food interesting, not just typical. Had we ordered the fixed price menu it would have been very good value. Everything was great, just expensive . . . but worth it. We stayed for about two hours and were never rushed by anyone (of course it was a Monday, so they were not crowded.
