A word from Auberge du Pommier
An exquisite French restaurant constructed around the rustic vestiges of two 1860's woodcutter's cottages. Cozy wood burning fireplaces in winter and lush garden terraces in summer. Inspired modern French cuisine, seasonal tasting menus lunch and dinner, and a 500 label wine selection has something for every palate. One of Toronto's Top 10 Restaurants. "The service at Auberge du Pommier is silken smooth and deliciously attentive; the ambiance is luxe; and the food is very good French technique using impeccable ingredients." • "Auberge du Pommier is literally a three minute drive from our home but this was our first visit. Of course, now we're saying "why did we wait so long?" We knew we wanted somewhere special to celebrate our anniversary and Auberge was our first choice. Every detail was perfect. We had requested (and received) a cozy table near the fireplace. The service was outstanding but not pretentious. And the food was exactly expected - fantastic. Auberge du Pommier was the perfect choice to celebrate our special occasion."

  • "Chef Tasting Menu - Outstanding! I have not been disappointed by Auberge du Pommier. I truly appreciate the effort was made by the chef. The tasting menu including the course of amuse and transitional are carefully designed and implemented. Service - Awesome from the beginning to the end! Could not find a moment that we have not been taken care. Our main server knows well about all dishes. His knowledge of foods and cuisines was outstanding too. We enjoyed the 4.5-hour dinner there. Last but not least, we were celebrating the big birthday. The touch and personal souvenir is thoughtfully prepared."

  • "Went with friends and all had the tasting menu with wine. Fabulous. Only negative was the very noisy adjacent table"

  • "Auberge has always been one of my favorites in Toronto. This visit is still as memorable as my previous ones. Service is top notch with detailed accommodation for food allergies. Each dish is brilliantly constructed. I highly recommend the tasting menu. Overall a very delightful experience. $400 for 3 tasting menus+a bottle of wine."

  • "If you go, there are three things you must do. First, go on a night Robert is working, second, order the foi gras warm, and third leave room for the crème Brule' . Robert is very helpful on wine selections and his adorable personality even made the dinner fun for our 14 year old daughter who is very hard to please these days. Excellent service by all at Auberge, Chef was spot on!!"

  • "This has been one of the top rated restaurants in the city for decades. It is modern French in both menu and service. While the food was small to medium portion sizes, beautifully presented, and delicious, it was the service that truly delighted us. We were eight with ages ranging from 20 to 88, and we all found something on the menu to our taste. For me, the Tarter Steak was mixed with too many gherkins and the pork was a little overcooked. But neither flaw was worth mentioning on the spot as the whole meal was just so good. The wine steward was knowledgeable and our assigned server was amusing, caring and seemed to know what we wanted before we did. Dinner with 3 bottles of wine was $1,000 for 8 people tax and tip included."

  • "We had the Chef's tasting menu with wine pairing and I'd say that overall I wasn't very impressed - perhaps my expectations were too high or their tasting menu during my visit wasn't their best effort. My companion also felt that he had better experience during his earlier visits. For us the initial courses were fantastic (Fois Gras & Sweetbreads) but rest of the meal wasn't that great. The spiced honey-glazed duck confit was just too dry. The slow-baked wild salmon, while tasty on its own, didn't go well together as part of whole meal - sort of an odd-flavor compared to rest of the courses. The dessert - chocolate & sesame terrine with passion-fruit ice cream was just okay ... again I guess I expected more from a place of their repute."

  • "We went there for an early dinner with visiting in-laws to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We were concerned that bringing over a toddler to a fine dining place could turn a bit messy, to our surprise the waiters were able to smoothly handle the table setting and food/drinks service in a way his access was contained while keeping him in the center of the table. The outdoors setup is really authentic with state of the art shading / fans… in few words: Refined culinary experience, rustic yet stylish ambiance, knowledgeable waiters and very welcoming staff. The pastry chef prepared a made-to-order summery ice-cream meringue birthday cake that became the highlight of our meal."

  • "We have been to the Auberge at least twice a year for the past several years, and have never been disappointed. The friends we have introduced to the restaurant, have always been impresses, and leave with the comment "We will have to make sure we come back here!""

  • "We were treated royally. The staff answered our questions about the wine selections very clearly; the menu was lovely, and I was able to eat gluten-free and yet elegantly. Thank you for a memorable evening."

  • "This place has always been a favorite dining location for me and my family. The food is delicious and well prepared and the atmosphere is perfect for a romantic evening date. I was there with my girlfriend last week and we ordered the steak tartar and seared scallops to start. Both dishes were wonderfully prepared. For our entree we had the lamb shank and the aged rib-eye. The lamb shank was tender and soft, while the rib-eye was juicy and full of flavor. Remember this restaurant is on the pricey side, but i believe the experience is still worth the price."

  • "My wife and I like the ambience and simple decor of this restaurant and the fact that it is not very noisy. It is ideal for a special occasion such as visitors from out of town or a birthday or anniversary. On our last visit we enjoyed a leisurely 21/2 hour dinner. The menu is not overly long and the food presentation is excellent with interesting blends of flavours. The staff is friendly and helpful and available when needed."

  • "We went to Auberge du Pommier early before it was filled to capacity. We had the tasting menu and every course was cooked to perfection and was presented with great detail. The wine by the glass selection was magnificent, and the bottle list was even finer. We plan to return during the summer when we can sit outside."

  • "I am a long time returning customer however this years winterlicious menu greatly disappointed me and my guests (some who'd I'd brought there for the first time). It definitely did not meet my expectations . It wasn't delightfully tasteful nor was there much of a variety as in years past. Hopefully summerlicious will be better!"

  • "Everything about our experience was outstanding -- except our entrees. The drinks were perfect, appetizers were scrumptious, soufflé was delicious, coffee was perfect, wine was outstanding, our waiter was outstanding. But the beef had an odd flavour to it and wasn't anything special. The chicken wasn't very good. I don't know how it was prepared but I'd guess poached. It wasn't flavourful. The accompanying veggies were delicious though. So the prelude to the meal and the postlude were amazing and outstanding. The main itself was disappointing. For $300 I had expected more."

  • "We booked two weeks in advance, arrived on time and were seated promptly at the base of the busy main stair case next to some unused buffet equipment the size of a big BBQ. I had never been to this restaurant before but could quickly grasp that we were seated at one of the worst tables. There were plenty of open tables near the fire place or windows. Despite being seated in what basically amounted to a stair well, we found the service to be impeccable, the food to be amazing and the sommelier to be extremely talented. However, we won't be back. There are plenty of other wonderful restaurants that don't treat an advance reservation of 2 weeks like a walk-in."

  • "If you're the time of person who likes to dine amongst the 60+ crowd, and wont eat unless your meal is paired with the perfect complimentary wine, this place is for you. Being in my mid-20s, it felt as though I was a low-priority customer to the staff."

  • "Year to year, Augerge du Pommier has never disappointed me. And, I have been returning a couple of times a year, for years. I entertain customers each time. It is quiet enough to carry on a conversation, but no too quiet. It has a nice crowd and a nice vibe. The food is fantastic...period. The steak tartare is perhaps the best I've ever eaten. Our waiter was engaging, efficient, knowledgeable. Thank you for another wonderful experience."

  • "It was a birthday celebration for a friend and the staff went out of their way to make her feel special. I ordered the halibut which was good but just on the edge of being dry. We were told that the fireplaces are not in operation any more because they replaced/upgrade the kitchen hoods and the air balance was off in the restaurant. Not sure if this is true and hope it was an error."

  • "The food was fine but not exceptional. Our cocktails arrived after our first course! To have our cocktails delivered at the same time as our wine and food was unprofessional. I appreciated the apology from the kind maître d, but we were told that the system didn't process our drink order... Additionally someone in the kitchen dropped a tray full of plates (which shattered loudly); I suppose would not have been bothered, except I was sitting right beside the kitchen door and almost went deaf. Unfortunately you may feel overlooked in a sea of patrons at Auberge (and no one spoke French!)."

  • "My wife and I had a wonderful week-after-Valentine's dinner at Auberge du Pommier. Everything was well done and we were well taken care of. Opening drinks were tasty and well presented. The scallop appetizer was memorable as was the lamb shank. Lemon soufflé from scratch took only 15 minutes to make and was delicious and warm. Only the chocolate and sesame terrine dessert was underwhelming. There's a veritable army of staff catering to the patrons in the very comfortable dining room. Service was polished and professional, if perhaps a touch impersonal. Good selection of wines by the glass. Be prepared to spend as most entrees are $40+ but for a special occasion it's worth the indulgence."

  • "My husband and I went to the Auberge du Pommier restaurant for a belated Valentine's Dinner. We enjoyed the dinner tasting menu with the wine pairings. $150 per person (a price my chef husband said was very reasonable for the quantity and quality). Overall we were there for just under 3 hours, loved each dish, and enjoyed the high quality service which was attentive and knowledgeable. Also, the restaurant is décor is gorgeous. Great atmosphere. A great treat for a special occasion."

  • "Went with 5 friends for Winterlicious 2014 - quality of food much better than expected, service was impeccable (waiters seem to be telepathic, complimentary second serving of bread helps, too), and ambiance was amazing. Would come back here again, and 100% recommend to others."

  • "I'd been meaning to get to Auberge for the 'licious menus for some time. I went this year and the meal was okay. The main was a gratin which was more deconstructed then I expected. It was more like just potatoes around the plate with cheese on top. I had a hand made soda though which was really unique."

  • "I booked for Feb. 15 to avoid the prix fixe menus. Unfortunately, I did not look at the O&B site... that it was prix fixe for the weekend! My bad. If I had known i would have either shifted the reservation or booked Scaramouche or another resto not doing prix fixe on Saturday.... Was first alerted by the Auberge confirmation/reminder call several days before and asked if any flexibility - Nope. Chef was focused on production of the prix fixe menu. Tried again when we got to our table and one of the managers came over and offered to try to be a bit flexible however the incredients were not ideal... So at least at the resto they tried to be flexible. Wish it could have been resolved better over the phone when there could have been time..."

  • "This is a lovely restaurant, but the food was surprisingly ordinary or worse, certainly my least favourite O&B experience to date. It was a Valentine's Day menu so maybe it was atypical or I just made a bad choice. I had chicken roulade, which had very little taste and an odd texture, Very disappointing. My partner had beef, which was much better, though not unusually good. Most of the garnishes and accompaniments were nice, though the Kale was quite heavy. Everything else - service and ambience - were excellent. But at this price, $140 each with wine pairings, I expected much more."

  • "Our food and service was truly fantastic - I mean every single serving was special p. from the presentation to the tast high class French cuisine. The serving portions maybe a question you will have or price performance however for myself it is a special occasion . So go and enjoy it and you can even bring your own wine!"
