I've been wanting to try Atwood for a while and was excited to go. I was extremely disappointed. The food was a joke. My omelet came out brown and burnt. The potatoes were soggy. The toast was good but the waiter didn't think to offer or bring out butter and jam. After waiting and hoping the waiter would show up, I finally had to ask another worker for those items. The waiter had no personality, didn't offer recommendations, and was in a bad mood. Dining downtown Chicago, and paying the prices I did, I expect a certain level of service, ambiance and quality of food. This place bombed all around. I will never go here again. Ever. There are plenty of fabulous dining options in Chicago, this is not one of them. Don't waste your time.

Booked an OpenTable reservation for Atwood for a bachelor party (party of 7). Had to call ahead because due to cab problems, we were going to be around half an hour late. Called ahead and there were no problems moving the reservation. When we got there, we were promptly seated. Great place, great decor, great beer, great food!!

Atwood is my favorite Chicago restaurant. Have been a "regular" since 2001. Food is always wonderful, service attentive and personal. Gracious, friendly, delicious. And my favorite server, John, is now the manager. Great choice Atwood! We love Atwood for breakfast, lunch and dinner! It's a winner.

Absolutely wonderful, from beginning to fin The hostess, Erin was absolutely charming and lovely. She sat us at a lovely table. Our server Mary was wonderful, and suggested a wonderful wine to pair with our meal choices. She also shared some great history of the building. Absolutely delightful. We had the bass and the meatloaf and both were incredible. We will definitely be returning!!!!

The Atwood Cafe is such a beautiful, historic place with great service and food. Attention to details is what makes it even more special. I had the chicken salad sandwich on a ciabatta bun with mixed greens, it was delicious. My husband had the bagels and lox and although it was a little awkward to eat, it was a generous serving of fresh smoked salmon. Champagne of course to celebrate a Birthday and a card with the staffs Birthday wishes on it. A nice touch.

I'm from out of town and I've eaten here on my three recent visits to Chicago The food is absolutely wonderful, but what makes the restaurant really special is the high quality of the service. Our server, Vic, was knowledgeable and cordial without overdoing it. He gave us great recommendations for food and wine, but only when we asked. He did not push anything. He was attentive without being intrusive and every one of his recommendations that we followed turned out to be delightful. The food is creative and down to earth both, beautiful in presentation and even more beautiful in taste. Every visit we've made has been a joy and the next time I'm in Chicago, I'll make it a point to go there again.

We hadn't seen our friend from Ohio for several years. We needed a place for brunch that was convenient for her to get to the Goodman for a matinee. Atwood is always high on my list for such occasions. We were treated so well by the staff! And the food, as always, was perfect. The returnees in our party were glad to come back, and the newbies were duly impressed. Good food, unusual presentations, great coffee, and tasty Bloody Marys: all at a fair price. I can hardly wait to return!

We were host to friends from Conn. and needed a lunch spot before going on the Architectural Boat Tour. My wife enjoys the Atwood when she shops downtown. Our food was served quickly and it was tasty. Our server learned of our plans for the boat tour and proceed to tell us about the history of the Burnham Hotel being Chicago First Tall Building. We enjoyed our food, but when the entre came half way through our starters, we were less than pleased. The entres sat while we finished, and while the server offered to remove them, I was too worried about my medium rare steak to agree, not knowing what would come back. The server was somewhat indifferent, but the manager came over and noted our concern He later gave us free dessert. Overall a nice evening, but nothing memorable.
