The food was tasty but the waiter was completely checked out. We enjoyed everything except the dessert, because our waiter didn't bring it to the table right away. When it finally arrived, it was melted ice cream with crusty cream. Again, food was good and we will definitely give Atrio another shot.

The restaurant is located in the Conrad hotel with its very particular architecture. The restaurant is modern yet very cozy. I had the lemon ricotta hotcakes which were excellent considering I was actually in the mood for something salty. I also has the salted peanut gelato which was also very good. All in all I would go back. The location is a bit out of the way so plan accordingly.

  • Great food, bad service
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010
    Dined on 10/20/2012
The food was excellent, but the service was pretty bad. There was no host/hostess to greet us and we had to wait awkwardly by the podium for a few minutes until someone noticed us. Despite arriving 20 minutes late for our reservation, our table was not ready (not because they gave it away when we were late - it was just not ready). After finally being seated we had to wait another 5 minutes for a waiter to come over to us. The drinks from the bar were way overpriced and were not good. Despite the bad service, the food itself was excellent. We tried the crostini, brussel sprouts, meatballs, gnocchi, chicken, and short ribs and loved them all. Also unlike most Manhattan restaurants this place is nice and roomy - a nice change.

One of the finest steaks I've ever had. I ate half for dinner and took half home and had it the next day. It was excellent. I didn't like that a coke was $6, but I'm finding that to be all too common these days. Carlos was the server. He was wonderful. Attentive. He suggested the steak, and I was very pleased. The steak came with French fries. They were outstanding. No ketchup needed at all. They have some kind of flavoring on them that was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed them. I was surprised by the fries because I usually don't see fries with steak. But these aren't "kid" fries. These are "grown-up," mature, classy fries. A definite must taste to appreciate. My words can't do them justice.

We visited on a Sun at 5:30p with kids in tow and were the only diners in the place so difficult to rate service, ambiance, etc. However waiters were friendly, attentive and food was good. We shared meat and cheese plates, salad and wine. There was nothing underwhelming or overwhelming about the place. Prices were as expected for a Conrad hotel restaurant.

The food preparation is ambitious, with interesting layering of tastes and textures and attractive presentations. It was all very good but nothing was so outstanding that I thought, "I can't wait until I can eat this again!" The service was attentive and competent. Despite candles on the tables, the ambiance is a little chilly. The tables are faux wood, no tablecloths, no flowers. Like the hotel itself, the restaurant seems primarily designed for a business crowd. The music played during dinner was loud, jangly and annoying. It did serve to mask conversations at neighboring tables but it did not make for a restful meal. I would have preferred something mellower, or no music at all.

We went to Atrio as part of restaurant week for lunch. The menu was good. There was something for everyone. I had the steak and it was cooked just right. The ATRIO Bar & Grill is located next to the lobby of the Conrad New York Hotel. My wife and I went there for Restaurant Week. We ordered from the Prix Fixe dinner menu. The servings were small, but for $35 per person, I can't really complain. I had the following: Maplebrook Farms Burrato - Appetizer, Portuguese Seared Octopus - Entree and Ricotta Cheesecake - Dessert. My wife had the following: Veal & Pork Meatballs - Appetizer, Mediterranean Bronzino - Entree, and Chocolate Panna Cotta for Dessert. I liked the Veal & Pork Meatballs better than my appetizer. The waiters were very tentative to our needs. We didn't have to lift a finger. Overall, an good place to enjoy a nice dinner with my wife on a Friday night.

Amazing! We were here for summer 2012 restaurant week. Everything was amazing - I started with a burrata, had a skirt steak for my entree and the salty peanut gelato for desert. Everything was delicious and presented gorgeously. My husband had a tuna starter, an orecchiati entree, and a chocolate desert - he loved his as well but I think for every course we agreed my choices were better. Even the complimentary bread and oil with an olive tapenade was great. The service was impeccable - we never had to ask for water or for anything, the waiters were all so attentive.

We live across the street so I was excited to have something new open. However, after eating there I will probably never go back. The food was average. Nothing to write home about but the service was just about the worst I have ever had. They had no manager on duty and our meal took 2 hrs to arrive. When the check came we were charged for things that we didn't order and the waiter never bothered to check on our table when twice they brought the wrong dish.

The chef is to be commended. A menu that is simple, yet robust in flavor. The roasted butternut squash and hazelnut salad was lightly dressed which allowed the hazelnut and squash flavors to come forward. The pizza, crusty and not charred. And I can't say enough about the wine listI will have to continue to visit in order to try out the rest of the menu. The design of the restaurant is elegant without being stiff. And it is very nice to be seated in a restaurant where you are NOT bumping chairs with someone behind you.

I feel like I found a hidden treasure. Atrio just opened and not a whole lot of people know its there. For those who have ever spent time in Singapore or any major Asian city for that matter, will recognize the stylish Sunday Brunch feel that you would get at, for example, The Grand Hyatt in Singapore or Taipei. It's not a buffet, but the ambiance and service is the same. The bar also needs recognition and I plan to make it my happy hour place. It's not hot yet, but I am going to bet that it will be soon enough.
