A word from Atmosphere Bistro
Set in a charming cottage, near Ansley in midtown, atmosphere is a chic bistro that offers more than just a pretty face.
The mood is romantic and mellow cool with soft lighting, open hearth fireplace.
The theme of relaxed, inviting elegance extends to the bar and the patio.
The menu offers great classics such as Escargots in garlic butter, Duck confit, as well as Mussels marinieres or Scallops with mushroom raviolis.
From best French restaurant to best 100 overall restaurant, atmosphere has an impressive collection of awards and "Best of" nominations since its opening in 2002.
No wonder it is rated excellent by Zagat revue and #1 French restaurant in the city.
Atmosphere, finally a bistro that is not just trendy!

Diner Reviews
  • "This has become a go-to stop for us. Each dinner, brunch, or lunch has been memorable. The menu has predictable bistro cuisine with selected specials, but in every instance the quality of the food, the service, and timing of delivery have been first rate. Saturday night was a last minute "let's just go out" decision and Atmosphere had an opening. The endive salad is the best in town, the mussels were fresh and very flavorful, with a stock that required their great crusty bread to soak it all up, The monk fish special was substantial. Long on flavors and colorful plating. The wine list, while not extensive, has some real winners as well that really complimented both dishes. From the valet to waits staff. Great job--again!"

  • "Attended the French Wine tasting (Burgundy Region) Event for April. The presentation of the Wine, paired with delicious house made Hors d'Oeuvres, and Great Service made this a fantastic experience. After the wine tasting, stayed for an exceptional dinner. The Escargots (a House Specialty) were the "BEST" I've had since my visits to France. You will NOT be disappointed at this Restaurant."

  • "If you're looking for authentic French food, then Atmosphere is the place to go. Everything about the restaurant was wonderful and the food is out of this world. My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and wanted to go someplace different. Atmosphere isn't close to where we live but it was well worth the the trip and we're already planning on going back. I had the Duck Confit and my wife the Scallops with Wild Mushroom Ravioli. For the appetizer, it was Escargot which was the best I ever had. Portion size was perfect, food excellent, and thoroughly enjoyable evening!"

  • "What an incredible dining experience. atmosphere is an an excellent authentic French restaurant tucked away in a converted house giving the interior a very cozy, romantic setting. Our server was extremely pleasant, accomodating and attentive. Our food choices included homard thermidor as the appetizer which included an ample amount of lobster meat. Dinner choices included Coquilles St Jacques and Boeuf en daube. The scallops with mushroom ravoli served with asparagus very, very well done..magnifique! The beef stew was quite favorful and delicious, Dessert was creme brulee, which was excellent-only thing missing was a raspberry garnish.Would highly recommend this restaurant and plan on returning to experience their lunch menu. Bon appetit,"

  • "We enjoyed delicious French diner with various and fresh food with gentle, present but non oppressive service : the best of the 2 cultures. My plus: they serve warm and tasty bread with butter on the side. That's awsome ! My only bad point: they give a fish knif instead of a butter knif ! O.M.G. !! :-)"

  • "I've only been hear twice, and it's been impressive both times. Food is excellent, and the service is perfect. I only wish I worked closer so that I could take advantage of their lunch specials! Prix fixe on some weeknights is also well worth the visit."

  • "Always amazing food, and usually great service. This time, when I took someone, Carlton seemed quite overwhelmed. Normally the service is great but, this server seemed out of his element."

  • "Whether for a special occasion (this time it was our birthday!),for lunch with a friend, for a wine tasting, or just a night out Atmosphere is always great! Everyone that we have introduced to our favorite restaurant has also become a fan."

  • "The French cuisine was superb and the service was impeccable. We dined on the outside patio, right next to the heavily trafficked Piedmont Road - which detracted immeasurably from the ambiance. I realize the following is a HUGE suggestion, but the outdoor dining atmosphere at Atmosphere would be much enhanced if the patio were BEHIND THE RESTAURANT & parking were in front."

  • "We had a fabulous meal from appetizer to entree' to dessert. We shared escargot and a special goat cheese on crostini; then Coquilles St Jacque and Duck confit; toped off with the Colonel's special with bites of 3desserts for just$7. Everything was wonderful including our fabulous wait person who steered us toward a great $40 bottle of red wine. The only drawback was we were seated in a room next to the bar. It was early (6pm on Sun) and not crowded. However a middle aged couple seated at a table in the bar area having dinner talked so loudly we could hardly hear ourselves talk. I know there is nothing management could have done. We live in Nashville and this is far better than any of our French restaurants. We will definitely return."

  • "We had delicious escargot and goat cheese crouton arugula appetizers followed by tasty scallop and boeuf daube entrees. The crème brûlée dessert was an excellent finale. The window table with a view of the garden was a relatively quiet secluded area of the restaurant. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive."

  • "I dined with good friends. The food was excellent!! I had the salmon and it was absolutely wonderful!! I will most definitely recommend this restaurant to all of my friends."

  • "Atmosphere has been a good go-to restaurant that has a very french menu without the french attitude. Some rooms seem to be noisier than others, but the back of the house is delightful. The food is excellent and more than enough of it."

  • "Well prepared traditional French food in a romantic settin"

  • "If you are looking for a scene and trendy food, keep on looking. If you are looking for a lovely spot to meet friends, dine well and enjoy conversation, Atmosphere is the answer. Warm and intimate. The food is fine and the wine list is adequate (although it could be improved). In the weekend sunshine guests were filling the outdoor terrace, but we opted for a cozy indoor room. Predictably perfect."

  • "The continued satisfaction with the food and calm environment is the main reason why my entire family loves having brunch here. The warm weather was a great reason to eat in their patio. Although it is an area with cars driving frequently it shouldn't bother those wanting to take advantage of a sunny afternoon eating delicious Escargots. I've posted a picture through Foodspotting of the steak I like ordering here, their "L'Onglet Facon Bistrot" aka "Hanger Steak"."

  • "My husband and I were looking for a quiet place to celebrate a belated Valentine's Day. We wanted an excellent meal, but without the pretentious atmosphere of a "fancy" fine-dining place. I started with the french onion soup and cheese plate, while my husband tried the escargot. All three were great. I had the trout with carrots, potatoes, and green beans. The vegetables were perfectly tender without being mushy and they had a bite to them without being undercooked. My husband had the scallops and mushroom ravioli. For dessert we had the Cafe Gourmand (sampler). Simply put, it was all perfect! The only thing I would change - the name of the restaurant."

  • "Was looking for an authentic French restaurant. Service was outstanding. Ambience was also very good. Excellent place to have a long lunch with lots of opportunity for good conversation. Food was good but not great. Onion soup was a bit salty. Beet salad was very good."

  • "We celebrated my husband's b'day here; we had been a number of times before & really enjoyed it. Dinner was great. Starters: the seared foie gras & the moules marinere - both excellent. Mains: he had Coquilles St. Jacques - yummy, & I decided on stuffed pied de cochon (pig's foot). It was divine - tender, delicious with a perfect Dijon sauce. I don't think there was a lot of foie gras in it, but the dish was great. The green beans were good, but the whipped potatoes were only okay. They treated hubby to the dessert of his choice - the apple tart, and it was delicious. My decaf was pretty awful, but everything else was terrific. The tables are quite close together - very Parisian, but you can overhear other conversations."

  • "My husband and I dine at Atmosphere quite a lot. We've been three times in the past 3-4 months. I always order the french onion soup, scallops and lemon sorbet for dessert. They never disappoint me. The scallops are the best I've ever had in terms of flavor and texture. The service is always great as well. You can not go wrong at this restaurant. Love it."

  • "We enjoyed the experience and will go back again. The food is the main reason why this restaurant is on our A list. Service also was good."

  • "Valentine's dinner was just the right experience. Service was impeccable and the setting was romantic. I had the best lobster bisque with my wife enjoying bay scallops in morney sauce. Our entres were well prepared although lacking creative flair. Desserts were simple but tasty. The single rose topped the meal nicely. All in all a god experience."

  • "How many times do I pass by this little house turned into a restaurant on Piedmont without a second thought? But inside is a lovely little bit of France. Friendly and attentive staff and excellent food, it was a perfect Valentine's dinner. And don't miss the salmon tartare."

  • "We attended the monthly wine tasting & loved it so much we stayed for more wine & food. The wine was great & the pairings were well thought out. Thank you!"

  • "We celebrated a day before our anniversary, as Valentine's Day was just ahead, and reservations were not available by the time I thought of getting a table. As it turned out, we were happy dining on a Sunday night with just a few other diners on hand. The service and food were impeccable, and to have such an excellent meal for two with a starter and a dessert for one of us, main dish and a bottle of wine, all for $100 was a great price. We travel to France often and feel qualified to say that Atmosphère serves the best authentic French cuisine the Atlanta area."

  • "For an in-depth review please search for my previous reviews under 'Top Contributors' as my experience hasn't changed much. Atmosphere is still one of my personal restaurants to go for Brunch. With a friendly staff, quiet environment and excellent food I rarely ever leave feeling anything less than very satisfied. I dropped the Food down from 5 stars to 4 due to recent new restaurant discoveries that have had an impact. Still one of my top recommended places if you are looking for a relaxing and great brunch."

  • "I went to that restaurant to bring a customer. We did appreciate how quiet was the place! Very convenient to discuss. I guess you can also bring your wife... Food is good but not awesome. You can find nice wines but the PRICE! I had the $35 menu which is a good price for what I ate. My customer really enjoyed that place. Overall, this is a good adress that I would recommend to anyone who want to enjoy a gool dinner/lunch in a peaceful atmosphere."
