  • Best Shrimp & Grits. Great service!
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 9/29/2012
The Shrimp and Grits appetizer was incredible and much better than the Short Ribs entree that came after it. My date would have been happier to have another bowl of Shrimp and grits. Since he is unable to eat foods with any type of seeds, the server graciusly agreed to substitute red rice as he requested. The red rice was crunchy and either undercooked or had been re-heated. He also said the Short Ribs was just average. I had the Wedge salad which was good and My Salmon was great and cooked perfectly. I also enjoyed the slided red potatoes. We had to turn down the offer for dessert but will leave room for that next time!

We have been dining at Atlanticville over the last 10 years and it continues to deliver. The atmosphere is lovely on the outdoor covered porch. The restaurant is full of regulars. The wait staff treats you well whether you are a regular or a newcomer. And the food, while on the pricier side, is excellent. I had scallops that were delicious, and my husband really enjoyed his catch of the day, which was wreckfish. For a laid-back Sullivan's Island experience, check out Atlanticville. It definitely competes with the downtown Bay Street restaurants!

Wow. Why is this wonderful place tucked away on this charming island? Because it's one of those special places that you remember for your entire life. Everything about the night was perfect. Especially the service. Andrew was friendly and helpful with the wine list. My daughter remarked that he reminded her of her favorite uncle Dan. That's a big compliment from a 6 year old!

This is an exceptional restaurant in a very good restaurant town. We went for Restaurant Week, but decided to not do their restaurant week menu. Too much amazing food going past our table! Oysters, Calimari, Scallops, Tuna...all perfect. Our server was awesome and the manager was courteous and knowledgeable. We will return often, now that we know about this hidden gem!

We visited during restaurant week in Charleston, I must say this place is a gem. Live jazz outside on the porch just made it all the better. One of us ha the RW menu; soup, short rib and the chocolate brownie. I went for the regular menu, fried oysters ( the best ever ) with house made sausage, then to the scallops ( fantastic ). We really did have a great meal and we look forward to returning many times. Thanks Atlanticville!

Overall, this was not the best experience I had during Charleston Restaurant Week. We did receive outstanding service from our waiter. The tomato basil soup had a tartness to it that was unexpected and not quite appetizing. We had to wait while the chef prepared a ranch salad dressing and we received an unexpected shrimp appetizer due to the long wait (much thanks!). This item was the best piece of my dining experience and it was not on the restaurant week menu. The thai pork tasted like bar-b-que and the collards were not to our taste. The dessert was fabulous (chocolate brownie w/vanilla ice cream)!

    mtpleasantgourmets
    Dined on 8/30/2012
Dan's entree with the duck was a little too salty. We talked with the maitre'd about it and he agreed. His fish fillet was fine, just the duck and reduction and potatoes. My steak and taters were excellent. We'll be back. It was our 43rd anniversary and we just have been celebrating there since we moved from Penna, 13 years ago. We don't plan to stop. Yes, we're older and salt is a real thing now with us but we'll stay away from the confit, honest. Your restaurant is still an A+ in our book and thanks for running my purse clear down to our car when I left it!(I was too concerned with my leftovers, seriously.)

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

Never miss going to Atlanticville during our summer vacation to Isle of Palms and have always had terrific meals. Very kid-friendly and accomodating to our 2 small children, while maintaining an adult, fine-dining atmosphere. Slightly disappointed this year when we inadvertently went on "Thai Tuesday". The pad thai, which they bill as their "famous" pad thai, was underwhelming to say the least--flavorless shrimp and chicken pieces in a bowl of rice noodles with a sticky sweet sauce. The satay was equally uninspired. Go on a day when you have access to their whole menu, and lean towards a local fish dish and you won't be disappointed.

We had a delightful brunch here after Sunday Mass on a day trip from Charleston, SC, to see Sullivans Island. The outdoor area was quiet. Had we known there was live guitar player indoors and lots of ecletic art of walls, inside dining would have been great too. We started with a pitcher of peach sangria....it was small but tasty. The food items were kinda "Southern with a Twist" and we liked everything we tried.

Wonderful food, very good service (Amy), but WAY WAY TOO LOUD. To escape the terrible acoustics inside, we sat on the outside porch, but the jazz duo was playing out there, and we could barely talk to each other. A quiet guitar (like Morgan Creek Grill) would be much more appropriate, and the food is good enough that music just isn't necessary.

We went there two nights in a row because it was so good! Tuesdays was Thai night with its own special menu so we wanted to try a 'regular' night. My daughter wanted a curry dish with mussels on the 'regular' night (not a menu item) and the chef made a special dish for her with a MOUNTAIN of mussels and green curry! Do not be afraid to give the chef creative liberties! He will not dissapoint! The desserts were fabulous! The whole staff made us want to come back every night!

We visit the Charleston area each year and tried Atlanticville three years ago. We now include a visit on each trip, if possible. Servers are friendly and efficient. I tried a swordfish special entree that was delicious. Others at the table were similarly happy with their entrees. The restaurant scene in Charleston is excellent, but Sullivan's Island and Mount Pleasant have many great choices of their own. Atlanticville is at the top of that list.

Thai Tuesday is my favorite night at a restaurant! The Thai food is the yummiest Thai food in Charleston and the seafood is so fresh. Our waitress was great and brought us out all three currie sauces to try and then brought us some extra dessert because we were one of the last tables there. She was also very knowledgeable about the wine list and gave us great advice!
