One course simply replaced a slab of plain uncooked tofu (with garnishes) for the delicious-sounding meat alternative that included homemade meat stock. And we did not even get a discount for the vegan menu. I would not change the cutlery for each course; this is not environmentally friendly and tends to interrupt conversation. Attentive service."

The total bill is just too expensive and once you've paid almost $400 for a couple you feel like you should have gone to the Brookstreet for a full night stay instead!"

The staff are very informative and very happy to explain all of the many parts on each plate. The wine pairing is interesting although not always to my liking...but it is a great adventure."

Le concept de ne pas savoir à l'avance ce que nous recevrons est très intéressant. Le service était hors pair, entre autres, le serveur décrit en détails chacun des mets qu'on nous offre. Très bon choix de vin aussi."

  • "The foodie in me could not have been more please.. I brought my boyfriend here for his 30th birthday and we absolutely loved the place. Our server was delightful and very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the wine pairing as well. So many flavours and such attention to detail!! We left some four hours later, more than content, and ready to recommend this to all of our entourage. Beware though: not for the picky eater... I would hate to limit the chef's creativity."

  • "The Good: -tasting menu was unique and varied -service attentive without being overbearing. -price reasonable for a multicourse tasting menu -Hits: Pablo Escolar, buttenut squash soup, lamb perfecly cooked, desserts (porcini ice cream!) memorable The Bad -in its attempt to be unique, execution was inconsistent -For chicken and rabbit course, the meat was dry/overcooked. At this level of restaurant, I expect the meat to be tender and moist -Squid Pro Quo, though a misnomer (it was cuttlefish) was not well balanced : extremely salty anchoivies overpowered the dish All in all, some good and some bad. I am curious to try it again, but there are other restaurants that are more consistent in Ottawa."

  • "We arrived and were seated in the quiet and casually competent ambiance of the small dining room, we were down to the business of enjoying a culinary adventure. The amuse bouches arrived - a shot glass of quail broth and thimble sized pancakes with a hint of lemon, creme fraiche and caviar, We had begun our 12 course chef's choice with one full wine flight and half portion for me the light weight drinker. The playful names given to each course starting with The Raw Deal - a luscious tenderloin carpaccio through to the1st dessert -Up in the Air an orange blossom balloon filled with helium - yes I inhaled and giggled -made serious food fun. Service is professional, the room lovely and quiet, the sommelier knowledgeable. delish"

I would recommend going with the wine pairings, as they are so well selected to accompany the courses - yes , all 12 of them. Our server was very knowledgeable, which is tough when there are so many details that go into each of the 12 plates - and presentation is superb. The choice of tableware is perfectly suited to the different dishes. There is so much thought and care that is taken - that you will rarely , if ever experience this kind of dining anywhere else. Kudos to you Marc Lepine and your team for the continuous devotion to your craft!"

Always beautifully plated with imaginative names, the textures and flavours were wonderful especially the squid and bison dishes. The service was very well timed and all the courses and wine pairing were described thoroughly. It is a small place so moving about can get tight and for me being short, I found my chair too deep and could have used a cushion for a back rest. Definitely recommend this restaurant for special occasions!"

As always, the service was amazing and the servers delivered beautiful plates adding the story of the its creation to each dish. The desserts were great - my favourite being the fruit helium balloon as the last surprise of the evening. The take away treat of chocolate cognac truffles were the best truffles I have ever eaten!"

The intricacies of every dish served were extraordinary and blended so perfectly in Your mouth, it was like a world class symphony was playing in it :) We chose the proposed wine accompaniment and we're glad we did despite the price. I could not afford do do this on a regular basis but for a special occasion it was very worth it. Thanks to the whole staff, You should be very proud."

  • "A friend had recommended me to this restaurant a few weeks back and said it's a must for anyone with a taste for great food. He definitely right about that. I brought my girlfriend to Atelier a couple days ago for our 2 year anniversary. It was a blind menu, 12 courses, with some freebies/surprises at the start and in the middle of the whole evening. If you're planning to take your love ones to Atelier, the only thing I will say is make sure to budget a full 3 hours because that's how long it will take from beginning to end, but it's all well worth it! The food was amazing. Our favourite must have been the Little Guys (a scallop dish that came our second). Great presentation, a ton of detail and a whole lot of flavours in every dish."

  • "Should be in the running for a Michelin star. We had a wonderful time & a glorious 4 hour food extravaganza. Go with an empty stomach! My partner's allergy was very nicely and discretely looked after. The service was impeccable, knowledgeable and discrete. Portion sizes were spot-on given the number of courses. It was our anniversary dinner, & this may well become an anniversary tradition!"

  • "Last place that was such an experience was an 8 course meal in Toronto by Susur Lee few years back. It was the perfect place to take my boyfriend to for his birthday and they even presented him with an inflated helium edible balloon. He was very excited with that and the rest of the guest joined in sharing that experience as well. Very small and intimate for small groups. Recommended max 4. We will be back for sure!"
