Food was innovative and perfectly balanced. Service was top notch. Chef made an appearance at the table, which was a pleasant bonus. Only negative is that our table was very close to others, and it was easy to hear their conversation, so it felt slightly less private.

Too much presentation - not so much food. The chef focused too much on seasonal presentation but half of the food presented were not even cooked. It made us feel that she focused too much on presentation (food comes on rocks, stones, tablets, etc. which, actually, doesn't give people a very clean feeling..) and not so much on cooking a delicious meal. I like her food much better when she was at Luce. The food was much more delicious, yet, presentable. I hope she can go back to her old way of cooking, if she wants to keep the restaurant open for the long term. For the kinds of price we paid we expected better cooked food.

This was the most amazing dining experience I've ever had.
I ate things tonight I've always avoided as being "too out there" and loved them all. The Maeda fish entree was to die for. The presentation was world class and the service among the best I can ever recall — knowledgable, professional, quietly competent. The rhubarb tea to close the meal was heavenly. We really enjoyed our table chat with Dominique (Crenn) — a true Iron Chef to me.
One of the assistant wait staff actually ran down the two blocks to Lombard St. to hail us a cab when we left (she actually looked like an Olympic athlete in a dark suit, it was a beautiful sight) — that just seemed to sum up the dedication of this place to their craft.

Amazing... again. Second time was even better than the first time. Dominique takes the difficult season of Winter and creates an incredible melange of flavors and textures that makes us want to return again and again.
