Atchafalaya RestaurantOriginal FareHad a great brunch with friends. They were a little concerned about us bringing a little dog in a carrier but made a spot for us.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLittle gem in NOLAhad heard that this was a great spot but never tried it. We were late for our reservation and the staff was so understanding and extremely professional and got us accomodated relatively quickly. In a city where restaurants are top drawer, this one held its own. Food was fantastic. Had halibut with fiddlehead ferns and morels..spring delight! With the location in Uptown and ambiance of an intimate little place, I would go back in a heartbeat! great little gem and very well run.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was amazing! Introduced him to a Pim's Cup, which I feel Atchfalaya maked on e fo the best in the city. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I would recommend to any local or out of town visitor.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Benedicts!Fabulous brunch in a cool converted house - I had the Eggs Rockefeller and the hubby had the Duck Hash. Simple delicious!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways great food, ambienceAkso love the brunch live music! Warm friendly atmosphere and amazing food offerings.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and ambience wasThe food and ambience was superb. Our only compaint is that we were squeezed around small tables put together which was really not large enough to comfortably accomodate the number of people in our group.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely nightThis was a return visit to the restaurant and it was every bit as enjoyable. The friendly front desk, attentive service and obvious pride in the restaurant plus delicious food made for a wonderful dinner.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood GemI live in Los Angeles, but often travel to NOLA to visit my son who is a student at Loyola, New Orleans. The number of outstanding restaurants in New Orleans is ridiculous. It's always tough to decide where we are going to eat when we are in town. Never the less, we always save a night for Atchafalaya and we are always happy that we did. On this visit I had the spicy strawberry soup with a crab and avocado garnish. It was amazing. I went old school for my main course; center cut filet, fingerling potatoes and grilled asparagus. Outstanding. The restaurant is off the beaten track, but well worth seeking out. It is a true New Orleans gem.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFood doesn't live up expectations.Food OK but not worth the price. Ambience good.
Service great!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOn our final night in NOLAOn our final night in NOLA -- when, frankly, we were tiring of the richness of LA staples and craving something more refined and delicious but lighter, healthier, more thoughtful -- Atchafalaya was the perfect fit. We had a stellar meal, a great bottle of red upon the recommendation of our server, friendly, fun and well-paced service, and an overall perfect final dining experience in NOLA. Highly recommended.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely great! We found this restaurant randomly on Open Table and decided to try. We were not disappointed!! From the drinks to dessert, this place is fabulous. When we return to NOLA this is tops on our list!!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMbrunch fundelish...as usual!!!!

We were there for Sunday brunch and everything was outstanding, from the food and service to the music and drinks.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI'd heard great things andI'd heard great things and was not disappointed. My parents were in town for a visit and wanted some real New Orleans food and non-touristy ambiance and Atchafalaya nailed it. They loved it and so did my roommate and I. It's also so close to my house that I will definitely be back frequently. I see this as my go-to place for brunch in the future.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMEarned a special place in my heartMy family and I had an outstanding brunch here on 4/20/13! The staff was wonderful and very eager to accommodate my 80 year old aunt (who was in a wheel chair at the time). The food was amazing, especially the French toast (both types) & my fabulous egg white crab omelette & alligator sausage! Atchafalaya is permanently on my list of favorite restaurants! I will definitely be returning & recommending it to others who will be visiting NOLA!
E. Ervin4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMCharacter and CharactersOf all the great New Orleans restaurants, this one shines due to its character and characters--great people. No better local food, hospitality or overall experience, and that is saying an awful lot in this town.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food-good price-for lunchBusiness lunch was great. Client wanted a Cajun local restaurant and she was pleased. Building is rich in neighborhood originals. We were able to chat and have good food. Prix Fixe lunch specials offered soup, entree and dessert at very nice price. Portions are small, but enough for a 3 course lunch. Server was very good and provided local info to my traveling guest. Very nice experience.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe chose to share appetizersWe chose to share appetizers and sides, which were all quite delicious. The wait staff is very accommodating and efficient.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWow! What a great find! WeWow! What a great find! We went for Sunday Brunch & were excited/happy to see a make your own bloody Mary bar! That was fun!!! The food was way beyond expectation (although I had heard it was phenomenal). Each of us had something different so we could share & everything was incribly well presented, hot, tasty, & just plain old wonderful. The service was great, too.
Our only minus in all of this was the noise level. Love the idea of having a live jazz band, but we couldn't carry on a conversation at our table because the music was so loud (no fault to the musicians!). Just need to rethink the placement of the band...!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest brunch experienceI had the crab cake special with a poached egg and some kind of sauce. It was one of the best meals I've ever had. The crabcake was full of lump crabmeat and very little filler if any. It was crisp on the outside but not overcooked. The poached egg was just right. I wouldn't even let my husband have a bite! And the Bloody Mary bar was tons of fun - beautifully displayed and very tasty!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Good variety.Excellent food. Good variety. Prepared and seasoned well. Wonderful seafood selection.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperbVisiting from out-of-town and a friend recommended the Atchafalaya, since it is open on Saturday for lunch. We were delighted to find such a great find. Loved the Bloody Mary Bar. Will go back when visiting New Orleans.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to eat--shrimpGreat place to eat--shrimp and grits are the best in the city, maybe best ever.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat surprise in the garden distThis is a very cool looking building, and the interior is even cooler, not what I would expect in the garden district. Very inviting, not so fancy that you have to dress up, and the meal was top notch. Our server was quirky, but sweet and super helpful with accurate descriptions and helpful hints. The appetizers were all great, the entrees, very good, dessert was a little plain, but we only had one to share for a party of three, I would bet we just got a clunker. The staff was also accommodating, I added to the reservation size later in the afternoon by phone, but when we showed up we were shy of that number, and no problem, southern hospitality is a treat.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, great atmosphereExcellent food, great atmosphere and wonderful service.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! This was my second time having dinner at Atchafalaya. Delicious food and great service. The shrimp and grits was incredible. We got multiple appetizers and main dishes, and the only dish we didn't like was the gumbo - too salty. It's a nice romantic spot for a couple or swanky place to go with a group of friends for a special occasion.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect place for Sunday BrunchPerfect place for Sunday Brunch in New Orleans--festive live music, a bloody mary bar with 3 different varieties of tomato juice and lots of fixins, and a great menu. The Duck Hash was to die for!! Eggs Atchafalya was very good, but the fried green tomatoes they come served on were tasteless. Service was knowledgeable and friendly but a little slow because they were packed. I will definitely go back and highly recommend Atchafalya to locals and visitors.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to Sunday brunch andWent to Sunday brunch and all five of us LOVED the food and the Bloody Mary bar. What a find in the Garden District. There was jazz in the small bar and we were glad to be upstairs as it was quite loud downstairs. We enjoyed the music better being a bit farther away from it. This restaurant came highly recommended to me and I certainly would encourage visitors to New Orleans to get out of the French Quarter and enjoy this great little restaurant. Make reservations as the wait was up to an hour without them.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOff the beaten pathThe food is excellent. Some items have a French flair, others are are more local, and stll others are downright exotic. I highly recommend the Red Fish and the Frisee salad.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and special service--wAmazing food and special service--we were celebrating a special pair of birthdays and they made us feel great!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThis resturant is consistentlyThis resturant is consistently wonderful! We eat here whenever we are in town. The appetizer of Fried Green Tomatoes is fantastic. The Red Velvet Cake for dessert is so good I took an extra piece home. This is a must for us when in NOLA.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good contemporary dishesVery good contemporary dishes based on traditional Louisiana food.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding and authenticOutstanding and authentic and fresh. We had a group of five representing three generations and bi-coastal sensibilities and we all left happy and sated. It's worth the cab ride from the Quarter to dine at this beautiful former home.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've only been here for brunchWe've only been here for brunch but both times has been amazing and will now be our Sunday brunch before heading back north on all our future trips. The eggs Rockefeller are absolutely amazing! And who doesn't like a bloody marry bar!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSuper friendly staff and simplySuper friendly staff and simply the best gumbo I had in my three days in New Orleans! The only misstep was the dry cornbread served in their Boudreaux that disintegrated on any attempt to fork it! Otherwise, brunch was great. Gumbo for brunch - oh yeah!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a GemNice neighborhood restaurant, local people, causal with 5 star food, will def.go back.
would recommend to anyone who likes great food.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Easter BrunchHad a great Easter experience. Great friendly staff and make your own bloody mary bar. Good food.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAtchafalaya, Where NOcals GoAn out-of-the-way gem. Brunch was memorable in this camp setting. Poached egg dishes that you never imagined. An eccentric wine list and great Creme Brûlée . Did I mention superb servers?3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThoroughly enjoyed the meal.Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The owner and wait staff were very welcoming.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWorld-Class Local ExperienceBig call: We are from Manhattan, travel internationally and eat out every day - Atchafalaya is one of the best dining experiences on Earth. This is a kitchen where someone has gone out of his or her way to apply thoughtfulness and creativity to create a menu that while is rooted in authentic creole tradition, places emphasis on the freshness and flavors of the region's best local produce. The fried green tomatoes with lump crab and remoulade was unforgettable: nowhere will you taste tomatoes and crab so sweet, fresh and flavorsome, pan fried so gently in the tiniest drop of virgin olive oil. The velvety crab ravioli with a warm filling of shiitake, spinach and mascarpone, and smooth citrus buerre blanc sauce will have you licking the plate.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAtchafalaya is charming neighborhooAtchafalaya is charming neighborhood bistro with a first rate chef and staff.
