  • "With the fixed menu, you might think that you will miss out on your possibilities, but Assignments is always trying something new and they almost always get it right. The menu offers traditional fare but always something that you might have never seen before. I like ordering that item to take an adventure. The student chefs haven't failed yet in making me glad I did."

  • "I had not been to Assignments in some time. The food was just as I remembered...fanatastic. The server was unaware that they had Coke products available. But, we were sitting close enough to the beverage station for her to be corrected. I was disappointed that they no longer have a liquor license. It would be nice for them to at least have the license for people to bring in their own wine, if wanted. There was a large group from a nearby retirement community that took up most of the restaurant. Since they did not sit at one table, there were people just walking around to socialize during our meal. But, for the price you can't beat the quality! We will be back when the menu gets changed out; which is every 11 weeks."

Pleasant dining area, though outside of restaurant could use some work, at a minimum, have your art students paint a mural on the wall leading to restaurant, provided such treatment is allowed. Otherwise, some decorations and plantings would probably help. Overall a great dining experience!"

  • "Food has been excellent the two times I have visited for lunch. Dessert was the weakest of the courses both times. That said, the service is wobbly. The staff, though in training, seem downright timid and awkward, maybe they need a more rigorous primer course on the basics or simply to practice with each other more before going "live" on the public. I even had a drink dumped on me, thank goodness it was only iced tea, not hot or something staining. Twice I was also served the wrong hot tea- surely a culinary student should recognize a cinnamon tea as NOT Darjeeling, even if the bar service labeled it incorrectly. We will probably return, though I may stick with water for a drink, just to be safe!"

  • "Wonderful experience - thoughtful menu, very well prepared and presented, eager wait staff, appropriate portions - all students in the Culinary School at the Art Institute of CO. We had 4 courses, enjoyed each one, and did not leave uncomfortably full. Fresh ingredients - creative combinations. No wine list, so have a glass before you go. Support the students, school, community and enjoy a wonderful experience at the same time. As a Cordon Bleu graduate - I recommend Assignments for foodies. "

  • "Our first visit was amazing! Personable students serving and cooking. Ambience was appreciated in music and nice table settings with fresh flowers. We were surprised that the place was not packed, and enjoyed a table that one could watch the students cooking in the kitchen! Where can you get four courses for $21, and everything was cooked perfectly! We are going to try the other menu items in two weeks. What a find! The restaurant is ideally located about a block from the Broadway light rail, so one can avoid driving traffic, and continue to downtown for a night of fun."

  • "I was a student at this school so I thought it would be nice to revisit with a fellow classmate for my Birthday. The food was as good as we remember but the usual instructor was not there. I believe that Mr. Charles Anderson was the backbone of the experience and without his presence it just wasn't the same. A warm greeting at the door was absent. There was no attempt to highlight that it was a Birthday celebration and our promised discounts missed the check. Understanding that it is a learning experience, I have no complaints towards the students; they showed enthusiasm for the industry. I would still recommend this as a secret foodie spot to try, but I fear that the experience I once knew might not exist any longer."

The food is amazing and at $21 a person for 4 COURSES - you can't beat it. The restaurant is run by students, with instructors at the helm, but you would never know it. Professional, clean, courteous. These students REALLY love what they do and it shows. We've been here twice, the most recent time for my BFs birthday. I mentioned the occasion on my reservations and they brought a flight of desserts with a candle to celebrate. Wow. We plan on coming once every semester, when the menu changes. Bravo Assignments. I can't wait to come again soon."

I had to ask for more iced tea. I was charged for the second glass, which would have been okay except each glass was mostly ice."

  • "I know this is a learning school but I wasn't impressed with the service which should be excellent considering there are plenty of very young inexperienced servers in this industry who are fantastic. I never got my iced tea but it was on the bill. The appetizers were fantastic but it went downhill from there. I'm not a foodie so I'm not super picky but the lukewarm under-seasoned food was not to my liking. This restaurant is great if you're on a budget though. The price is right."

  • "Wonderful real-world environment for culinary students. We learned the proper way to spoon soup from a bowl and what the "right" side of the table you should put your finished plate. It's unfortunate that they do not have a liquor license - but we will return again without hesitation to try the remainder of the menu."

They prepared him a lunch to go at no charge for me to take to him. The food is always superb and the teachers and students are wonderful to get to know.   • "As this restaurant is affiliated with the Denver culinary institute, it is quite the unusual experience for a dining occasion. Have a tour of the kitchen and institute as part of your evening and your will find it informative and interesting. Too bad no alcoholic beverages are available to enjoy with your dinner..perhaps sometime in the future. A diverse enough menu to satisfy a range of palates..our table enjoyed the duck breast, mushroom soup, and pinwheels. The salad was excellent. For the entrees, most of us had the chicken, but others had the bass and scallops. The creme brulee was very good, but the apple tartlet was a little overbaked. A true learning experience for the staff and patrons... we had a very nice and fun evening!"

  • "The prices at this place are insane for the amount of food and the level of cooking displayed by the culinary students of the Art Institute. You'll feel like you're eating something from one of the hottest restaurants in Denver but paying half the price - creamy burrata, crispy skinned alamosa bass and sinful butterscotch budino that could stack up to any in the city. The dining room is a little outdated, but understanding that this is a non-profit, one can forgive. They have also discontinued their alcohol program which is a pity because one of the instructors has a great background in pairing. Still I would recommend it to anyone who loves delicious food!"

It is a delightful experience, and a true bargain. Close enough to downtown for a business lunch. No wine list, (sob!) but other than that, have fun, and have a glass after dinner at home.   • "Used to be a fun, unique dining experience. Restaurant seemed toned down, minimal ambiance, less inviting. The biggest difference was the lack of wine and other alcohol offerings. How can you teach students the importance of matching wine with food, and, how to serve wine? A significant part of their educational experience is missing. And thus an important part of my dining experience was missing, too! ."

Menu choices were great and plentiful. It is the top dining place when you wish a really delightful and adventurous evening out.   • "Interesting to see the working kitchen. The service was very uncomfortable with all servers seeming nervous and trying too hard. The timed placement and pick-up of plates was just awkward. We sat with finished plates for a long time until they could gather up four people to lift them at the same time. The food was okay, nothing memorable. It reminded us of banquet food, nothing really wrong, just not very interesting. Be aware that there is no alcohol, wine, or beer served. The price is nice, but I'd prefer to spend my dining bucks elsewhere."
