Aspen GrilleWonderful evening!Last night of our vacation, we were lucky that the Aspen Grill was our choice for dinner. The ambiance was nice. We were greeted warmly and shown quickly to our table despite the fact that we were a little late for our reservation. Our server, Wayne, was fun and very helpful with the menu. Each one of us adults had a different entree and they all were outstanding, My Grouper dish was simply the best Grouper dish I have ever had, here in Myrtle or even in Florida. My wife really enjoyed the Mahi special with shrimp. My son tried the Hanger steak, which was really flavorable and tender, while my daughter had the 4 oz beef tenderloin, which she liked a lot. Chicken strips with great fries, Chicken parm, and a beef tenderloin for the 12 year old were very good. The martinis were just excellent and helped to relax us for the evening. We also prefer restaurants that use local and/or organic ingredients. Aspen Grille focuses on using seasonal, local produce and was delicious. We tried the house special martini--Myrtle Beach Martini ($11), tomato & mozzarella crostini appetizer, French onion soup, fried green tomatoes with crab meat, the hanger steak, 10-layer yellow cake with chocolate ice cream, and the German chocolate brownie sundae. The kids had homemade chicken strips with French fries. Everything was tasty, but our favorites were the hanger steak and crostinis. Service and portions were good. The bill was about $100. As our entrees, my wife enjoyed her vegetable plate and I enjoyed my scallops. With our entrees, we both enjoyed a superb rissotto which was flavored lightly with butter beans---very Southern eclectic. Starters were quite enjoyable as were the desserts. The wine list is quite nice. The sauce had a delightful bit of sweetness from honey. My food was wonderful! My friend had the scallops with risotto which was a little salty but still tasty. Overall the service was good. I have to say the atmosphere is mediocre since it is located in a strip mall. But the food and service make up for that. We were greeted with a smile & very friendly hostess. Our waiter was very friendly, helpful, & knowledgeable of the amazing wine selection. We started with the oysters & they were the best we'd ever had. I had the scallops, they were cooked to perfection & literally melted in my mouth. My husband & son had the shrimp & grits & they were out of this world. We finished with the carrot cake & were pleasantly surprised to find the center filling was actually cheesecake. It was a Sunday in Myrtle Beach, their slowest night, so there were not many diners. He was not customer friendly and although he did not ruin our meal it did take a little away from the experience. After enjoying a nice meal we let the waiter know had a coupon for a free desert without even looking he said it didn't qualify with the meals we ordered. We had just spent over 100.00 for our meal and drinks for 2 . He did nothing to try and explain. It was not the money the desert was only 7.00 it was the unconcerned approach taken by the waiter. They had a nice guitar player providing good background music. We enjoyed the house salad. My guest had the market fish special which was excellent. I had the sea scallops on vegetable risotto with fried spinach on top. It was outstanding. After reading all the reviews and checking out the website, we decided to make reservations. We asked for a quiet round table, and that's what we got. Wine was half off in the bar, and a nice brand to boot! We had excellent service, and the food was spectacular! I would make this a must, next time I return. The knowledgable staff presents the menu with enthusiasm and justifiable pride. Most entrees come in two sizes, medium and main. The smaller portion is perfect for my wife, who couldn't even finish it. It's also great after enjoying a generous starter. The menu offers a range of items for any taste. We had the short ribs and the sea scallops.
The food does not disappoint and the piano/singer combo was very enjoyable without being intrusive.

My son and his wife from Chicago ate there last week and raved about it so much that we had to try it ourselves. Everything was first class from the appetizers to the desert, a very generous portion (more than enough for 3 of us) of a 10 layer cake. They offer a variety of unusual entrees so it was difficult to choose one. Our group of 3 had different entrees after sharing appetizers and all were excellent. Our server was great, the hostess kept checking on us and the pianist/singer in the background created a memorable evening.
