Diner Reviews
  • "Best restaurant in Myrtle Beach? I don't think so. Short staffed on waiters, as we were told. Took 20 minutes just to place a drink order. Kind of ruined it from the start. The drinks were very good, but it kind of ended there. Calamari tasted like it came out of a frozen box. Goat cheese salad was blah. Steak frites was okay, nothing special. French fries were limp. Flounder Oscar was bland. Crab meat seemed to be puréed on top of it. We won't be back."

  • "So, let me start by pointing out the good things. We started with the BEST oysters Rockefeller we'd ever had. The escargot was perfect, the mushroom cap adding something delectable I'd never tried elsewhere. We also tried the bruschetta, PHENOMENAL.The tomatoes and herb mixture was incredibly fresh and the goat chees was superb. We were all so happy with our apps we couldn't wait to dig into the steaks. So, now the 'low' point of the evening. My filet was very bland, as was my friends, literally NO flavor. The lobster accompaniment was also bland, and little tough. The mashed potatoes added to the disappointment with little to no flavor. Sad the one thing they are known for was bad. Our friend who ordered the shrimp and grits WAS pleased."

  • "Warm, relaxing atmosphere. Fabulous, friendly service. Fresh, flavorful food. The blueberry bread pudding with salt and caramel ice cream was to die for. Highlight of our trip through Myrtle Beach."

  • "My husband and I love Myrtle Beach for the golfing but hate going to these food chains or roadhouses that try and out do each other as far as the quantity of food they give you. Eating a 20 oz steak with a mound of fries is not our idea of a great meal. The food at Aspen Grille was wonderful and our waitress Brin did a great job recommending a wine based on the food we ordered. As an appetizer we ordered the Raw Oysters that came with homemade cocktail sauce. I was disappointed that they put a small teaspoon of sauce on each oyster. My suggestion would be to place the sauce on the side since I prefer to enjoy the taste of the Oyster and not mask it with the sauce. Otherwise the food was wonderful and we will absolutely be back."

  • "We are so glad we found Aspen Grille through Open Table because had we been deriving around Myrtle Beach we would have never found this restaurant, or quite honestly probably wouldn't have stopped here because it is in a strip mall away form the hustle and bustle of the strip. With that being said, the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted by friendly hostesses and a warm. romantic welcoming atmosphere. The wait staff was very friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. The Warm Goat Cheese salad stood up to it's reputation and was excellent as were the crab cakes and the Flounder Oscar. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to have a culinary treat at the beach."

  • "Not sure why this is not rated higher. We had the escargot as a starter, which was perfectly delicious. The tripper fish special was perfectly cooked. My sons had the scallops and the short ribs- also perfect and delicious. Would definitely return to this restaurant."

  • "THIS is FINE DINING. This was a flash back to MAD MEN. A singer who's VERY GOOD. Waitstaff that glide around the tables serving wonderful food. It's the experience that you do not find very often. The food was very very good. From fried oysters to fresh fish prepared perfectly One half of the restaurant is classy and the other half bar scene. We very much enjoyed it."

  • "Aspen Grille was exactly what we were looking for to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in Myrtle Beach. The ambiance was perfect, wait staff was outstanding. Menu had a great selection of seafood mixed with more traditional American cuisine, which suited our needs perfectly as my husband has shellfish allergy (making seafood restaurants suspect for us.) Located in the residential area of North Ocean Blvd, Aspen Grille is the perfect place to get away from the hulla-balloo that is Myrtle Beach. We typically vacation about 50 miles north in Oak Island, NC, but would readily make the drive (through Calabash) to dine at Aspen Grille."

  • "Aspen Grille is a favorite of ours. We are never disappointed in the food or service. Always greeted by friendly, smiling staff. We started with the crab bisque. Yummy! Husband had the filet and I had the flounder special. Both were perfectly prepared. We shared the brownie sundae desert served warm and also excellent. Highly recommended!"

  • "Great food, service and ambience. Unusual and delicious selections. Highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Note: the GPS indicates the wrong side of the road so watch for the small strip mall to find the restaurant."

  • "Exceptional service meets great food! Warm goat cheese salad was to die for & paired with scallops was perfection!! Great for my 8 year old too! Save room for dessert-the brownie sundae was yum :)"

  • "I had reservations for 8pm, due to traveling we ran late but was able to get reservations redone on a busy Friday night with no problems. once we arrived the greeting was wonderful and so was the service. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a intimate setting and wonderful food and service."

  • "We were a bit disappointed in the abundance of mediocre restaurants in Myrtle Beach, though admittedly did not have much time to research the area. We chose Aspen Grille because the wine list was very nice. Though not ocean side or grand in appearance, the inside was lovely, and there was excellent live music (piano/horn/vocalist). We were seated in a corner, where conversation was easily heard. Service was excellent, all around. I had the medium plate of grilled scallops, warm goat cheese salad, and oysters (for starters). All perfect. My husband had lobster tail and a pork dish with sweet potato ... flavors and preparation couldn't have been better, and portion sizes just right. A memorable highlight of the trip!"

  • "It was our first time and we really enjoyed our meal. The ambience was also perfect, there was a jazz guitarist. We would recommend it to all off the people from Québec, Canada."

  • "The food was fresh and seasoned to perfection. Fantastic service. Our waiter, Herman was very helpful and thoroughly familiar with the menu. He was also attentive without being obtrusive. Dined early (6pm), so that might account for the quietness as there were not many diners present. It was also a Tuesday evening."

  • "From the first moment we walked into the door, our experience was perfect. The only negative was, having read a review that mentioned the portions were small, we ordered appetizer, salad and full entrees. By the time the entrees arrived, we were all ready pretty much full. The salad special of the day was an arugula with fried oysters. The oysters were large and perfectly cooked. One more oyster and it could be an entrée. My husband had the filet and loved it. I had the Braised Beef, also very good. We would definitely return the next visit to Myrtle Beach."

  • "Whenever we visit Myrtle Beach Aspen is a must stop. This experience was no different although Sunday night there is no music (a disappointment). Big groups: ask for the Mafia Booth. (:-)>"

  • "Our table for two was quickly and happily upgraded to a group of 10+ with children on very short notice. The banquet room accommodated our small group perfectly. Service was excellent. The owner even stepped in to make sure our experience was everything we were looking for. Actually it far exceeded our expectations. The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for. Elegant and romantic. And thankfully our children were welcomed."

  • "Had a great time at Aspen Grille. Had the Caesar Salad, Filet Mignon (this was one of the best I've ever eaten), house cut fries, and their 10 layer cake for dessert. Every part of the meal was fantastic. The atmosphere felt very positive. The entire staff was very attentive - even the singer was going table to table, and she had a beautiful voice. If you are in town, I would highly recommend."

  • "We ate at Aspen Grille on Feb 22, 2014; we picked them based on the menu, and they exceeded our expectations. The menu is American, with a focus on seafood, some steakhouse influence, and some French influence. We were happy to see the local, low country influence in many the dishes as well. The scallops were cooked perfectly. The ambiance has a little bit of clubby steakhouse character, without being at all dark or loud. Very comfortable and relaxing for a romantic dinner or informal fine-dining meal with friends. Wine list is good, and invitingly priced. Service was excellent. They had a live keyboardist on the Saturday night we were there."

  • "In a tourist mecca like Myrtle Beach I was worried about finding a decent spot for my Valentine, but found this one through Yelp. There was a Val Day menu along with their reg menu. We ordered the special menu and were quite happy. The food was well conceived, prepared, and portioned right for a 4 course meal. The only minor complaint was the first course mini crabcake. The sauce was good, but clearly the cake had been in a warmer before we got it- it was good, but not great. The rest of the courses though were terrific and well prepared. We loved it all! All in all, it was a very positive experience and a place I'd recommend for anyone looking for something other than chain or middle of the road restaurants in Myrtle Beach."

  • "We drove to our beach house to Myrtle Beach, SC from VA with 2 other couples for a Valentine Day weekend. The food at Aspen Grille was very good, the waiter very efficient and the atmosphere was quaint and cozy. There was a man playing the piano which we enjoyed very much while we ate scallops, steak and seafood dishes."

  • "Went the night before Valentines to avoid the crush..the restaurant was nonetheless very busy..despite that service was perfect, meal was exceptional. I had the lamb, my girlfriend a filet and lobster special, both excellent. I am a professional chef by trade from the Pawleys Island area and this is my favorite fine dining place in Myrtle Beach. Chef Curry Martin is someone I trust and respect. The wine list is extensive and very reasonably priced on higher end wines. We had the Duckhorn Merlot at $90; the exact same bottle is $130 at the corporate steakhouse up the road. The bartenders are true veterans of Myrtle Beach and as professional as they come. Not to be missed if you're in the market for a great meal."

  • "The Aspen Grille was recommended by a neighborhood friend who is an excellent cook and is very particular about foods. So my husband and I got two other couples together from our neighborhood for Valentine's Day and decided to have dinner at the Aspen Grille. Everyone was thrilled with the menu options and the food was not only delicious but was served with a great deal of appeal. Our waiter was extremely courteous and frequented our table frequently to see how things were and what else he could do for us. We will go back. Great Experience!"

  • "While I might recommend this restaurant more highly for typical business dinners, I felt it was overcrowded and overactive for the ambiance needed for a Valentine's Day dinner. That aside, the food was good and the presentation OK, especially the white chocolate bread pudding. The keyboardist/vocalist was memorable."

  • "We will always plan dining at the Aspen Grill when we are in Myrtle. Ambiance, food and service are at the highest level. The menu is diverse and there are always dining specials that are wonderful. We know that we will not be rushed with the next course not being presented until all at the table are finished. Thank you for a splendid evening!"

  • "From the food to the service, our experience was flawless. I had the grouper, which was perfectly cooked and garnished with a lime-tarragon crime fraiche. My companion had the New York strip; she only eats red meat about twice a year and was not disappointed that she chose this occasion to enjoy it; it was perfect. Our server, Dee, was knowledgeable and attentive and we really enjoyed her service. The chef even came out to speak to us."

  • "Our night in the private dinning room was fabulous. The keyboard player was right outside the door. We enjoyed the music, but were able to talk in a normal tone of voice. The restaurant was ready for us, took our orders brought piping hot and yummy dishes. We ordered off the menu. The kitchen had no problem sending everything out together, on time, and piping hot. We felt very welcome and pleased with the venue, the staff, and the kitchen. We will be back!"

  • "We ate there during Restaurant Week and found the menu selections to be a good sampling of what is offered here. All of the courses were flavorful and the entree contents well matched. Our server was just outstanding-helpful with suggestions and warm and attentive without being too present. My only complaint is when I order a cocktail i like to have time to enjoy it before the food starts coming. Next time I want one I'll start in the bar and then move to a table. We certainly plan to return to the Aspen Grille and have already recommended it to our friends."
